    Import scene

Hey all, After a hiatus from Brissy and a bigger one from imports, I'm considering purchasing another import. In the 8 years I've been absent from Brissy it seems the import scene isn't what it used to be. Have the cops had much to do with the decline, or is it more just a cost of living thing/ other factors for most people? I've noticed some of the body shops and mechanics I visited are no longer around. I haven't had the chance to get down to Slacks Creek way yet, but does it still have a strong car scene going for it? Has the drop seen a reduction in spares availability and price increases?

    Price Rise

Most servos i've seen around leave it steady till wed. In the mornin its nice n "cheap" then on the drive home wam bam thank u ma'am 10 or so cents more. Even if it is $5 or so a tank thats still a beer in my belly and not in some rich knobs pocket

  17. i don't know if this info is to late for you or not but asian auto spares down in slacks creek have definatly got a heap of control arms down there, and i think i saw one engine cross member there to, shouldn't be to expensive they said $80 for a left hand control arm to me only a couple of weeks ago
  18. We had the car up on ramps, only real awkward bit was gettin the box out from under the car, we had to jack the rear a bit for the bell housing to clear. It wasn't to bad working on the floor, i found no problems reaching stuff or moving. Getting the box out we supported the weight on a jack, getting it in was a mix of on the jack and manualy holding, as we had to wiggle the rear side to side up n down. If you change the spiggot bush at the same time all you need is a scribe or really fine common screwdriver and just tap it on the outside of the old one to deform it and use pliers to pull it out. Putting the new one in we just used a socket to tap it in. But yeah all in all i didn't find it very awkward at all, who knows you might i don't really know
  19. Well its job over and done with now, thanxs very much to LTHLRB, mad082 and bogcock for there advice, few things i learned was that it is very easy to reach all bolts from the below the vehicle, to reach the upper most bolt on the righthand side (above starter motor) it is easy providing your left handed when underneth the car, and all in all it was a pretty easy job (compared to the last gearbox i pulled out)
  20. could have been, if its your car then you would know better than me and i had consumed copious amounts of jack before i saw it drive past

    Brake Pads

i payed bout 70 for fronts and 75 for rears on my R33, but thats with the R34 caliper other wise it was bout 60-65 for the 33 caliper they were just bendix advance, i think DB-1110 was the part number for the fronts most auto places can match them if you only know front/rear part number
