  1. ok, thanks mate. I was told that all RB20 gearboxes (which are the same as RB30E, RB25DE) only come out with a mechanical sender in the R32, where as the same gearboxes in other cars have an electrical sender and apparently you can change the senders in em........but I'll post on here if that works out!
  2. I'm not too sure on the finer points like how to tell wether it is a VVT head or not. Maybe the rocker covers have a bump in em like other vvt engines but I'm not sure. I think if you use the VVT head's, you have an issue with connecting an oil pressure line and an ECU issue......I think. Have a search through these forums if you haven't already as there's a lot of info on RB30's as I found out when I was looking at it before.
  3. Does anyone know if the rb20 gearbox (in any vehicle, manual or auto) came out with an electric speed sensor? Or if any other RB gearbox came out with an electronic speed sensor? Or if any electronic Nissan speed sensor will fit into an rb20 gearbox? The reason I am asking is because I need my silvia speedo is electric where as the rb20 gearbox had a mechanical speed sensor in it.
  4. The rb25de non vvt head is the one of choice if you go with the 25 head option. I've seen the 26 head on 30 blocks but they cost a lot more than a 25de head. I've heard that complete rb25de's go for $1200 and when I asked my local import wrecker how much it was for a 26 head it was some extravagant price (I forget) but it was more than double the cost of the complete 25de engine. Other people on this board will now a lot more than me but I'd imagine that the only benefits of the 26 head over the 25 would be better flow characteristics and the individual throttle bodies. Also, I've seen rb30e's out of skyline's and commodore's selling for $150 in the paper. Hope this helps.

  8. Do the Cefrio's that came out with RB20DET's (I think they were A31's) have the same brakes as SR20DET equipped S13's?
  9. Sydneykid, What do you reckon would be a good price for rb26 crank and rods? Is it possible to use the rb20 pistons with the rb26 rods? What's the availability like on getting the rb26 crank/rods? Thanks Brian

  15. Do you know how much I would be looking at for a custom t3/4 turbo? Would I have to supply my old housing (and if so would it be a suitable one [rb20]) or do you pay and they supply everything?

  17. If you don't mind me asking, how much would one of these turbos set me back? Do you go to a turbo shop, supply the specs and they make it for ya or do you have to supply a base turbo to start with which they modify?
  18. What do you guys reckon is the max boost you can run on: VG30DET (early 300zx) turbo's and RB25DET (R33) turbo's?

I know it's possible to add 1 or 2 extra injectors in the supply if you have aftermarket management but was wondering if it's possilbe to add a whole 'nother rail when you want extra fuel supply with lower flowing injectors, instead of wasting your old injectors. So you get the same total flow capacity you want but with another 6 injectors.
  21. The stock injector's --> are they top feed or side feed? and whichever sort they are, is it possible to just add another fuel rail with the different feed injector's if you get a custom plenum? So instead of upgrading your current ones, you just add a new rail with 6 new ones giving you a larger capacity overall without wasting your old ones? If this is possible (I'm getting too far ahead of myself), would you need aftermarket management for this? or would a tuned stock rb20 ecu be able to handle this?
  22. Thanks for the advice. Actually starting to get into moding my engine now. If I got a bigger turbo, maybe a t4 compressor on a t3 turbine, what boost could I run upto before the chance of stock internals braking?
