more people getting packages....and just got an email from someone from GMH saying in the first 1/4 of next year their shutting down for 22 working days!! YIKES!!!! Penny its probably split and i'd guess that its a press in/press out job?

No mechanic here either mate trust me, just listen and learn as i go along! Not saying everything i say is right either! Ryan can come along and correct me if he thinks its not right!! Yer controlled the boost really well...The pop off valve was adjustable and thats how you controlled the boost!! The turbo just spun its little heart out!! Luckily this setup didn't last long beleive a few turbos and motors would've been lost along the way...Bare in mind this was the early external wastegate setups! Yes your reducing a bottle neck which means the RB series of engines runs more boost, but to make the wrx run full boost you need that restrictor in the hose..weird i know but thats how it works!! Having gone from running wastegate boost to now running fullboost its quite a weird feeling when you put your foot down feeling it control the boost (or at least thats what i think it is lol)

Ahhh not quite, some of the R E A L L Y early jap turbo setups worked along that theory (like on the FJ20's they had a pressure releif valve on the plenum and thats how you set the boost up!)...If you take the BOV part out and put turbo wastegate into it your spot on the money my friend!! Only thing the BOV does is vent the excess pressure outta the inlet system when the throttle is shut. Only reason i corrected you on the boost restrictor bit is i just had my 100000km service in the wrx done not long ago (you think its expensive on a skyline should try it on a wrx YIKES!!!) and the guy i got to do it had one before and we ended up putting the restrictor back into the line coming from the compressor housing cover to make it build the boost to 14psi! I know on the RB series you take that restrictor out to make it run more boost eh????

Meh AWD in the wrx kinda kills that equation though my friend, and the turbo setup in the DR is to linear even if i wind more boost into it (once i sort out the fuelling issue) i still don't rekon it'll be a wheel spinning fiend of a thing...It kinda reminds me of driving a SR20 on standard boost in its boost delivery...still 8 psi into a turbo designed to work over 16psi probably has something to do with that! Did you end up finding that rod??? Oh AI automotive eh...we've got a few managers/engineers that came from that place, seems automotive is a place NOT to be right atm! Shit champ, sounds like you've got as much to do on yours as i do on mine!! Pity i can't find anyone to rebuild my coil overs grrr!! Whats wrong with muffler?? Problem is the government in this state is run by an ex cop (rann) and all he see's places like this drag strips etc etc as is encouregment for "hoon" drivers so doubtful you'll get any government support for anything like this.... All great ideas in theory though, pity they can't see the response they get in otherstates for places like this though, all they wanna do is bring in new laws all the time instead of trying to fix the issues....cheaper that way

What a crock of shit that statement is...Does that mean that im a bad driver cause i own/drive a wrx?!?!?!?!?!? Usually i ignore your "general" statements but thats overboard. Actually thats wrong, if you take the restrictor outta the line it only runs wastegate pressure (7psi) it needs the restrictor in the lines to acheive the boost (in my 02 wrx thats 14psi pretty sure its around the mark for all of them) RIP to the kid who was killed as well, no chance of making that at the speed they were doing..I heard something about this on the radio yesterday on the way to work and they were saying about a wrx crash and the boot was pushed into where the back seat was and yada yada and i thought yerp typical media crap...Damn they were right, massive impact!
