  1. Mate, don't buy a series 2 bar cos it wont fit perfectly with your S1 headlights. They are significantly more expensive than S1 bumpers. Go and visit a few import wreckers and make offers on S1 type m bumpers because as Al said it will suit your car best. I don't trust aftermarket copy/fiberglass bars as the fit is often shit and fiberglass tends to crack and shatter real easy
  2. I only get the occasional tailgater. I just make sure I am in the leftest lane and then slow down. It was really bad in the R34 GTR as we would get people tailing us for up to 20 minutes, those wanting to race and even people trying to take photos while driving. Just a thought. Maybe a lot of the hate at tailgater's is misdirected. Could some of you guys be driving in the right hand lane below the speed limit or driving at the same speed of cars in the lefter lanes? I do a fair bit of freeway driving in inner Melbourne and people blocking the right hand lane are at times more dangerous than irritating as cars looking to overtake have to snake through traffic to get around the pace car in the right hand lane. This seems to be an attitude of problem with Australian drivers as so many refuse to keep left and overtake on the right. I was in London a year ago and their freeways move so much better simply because people keep left and by law must overtake on right resulting in the slow cars in the left and those who want to lose their license in the right lanes.
  3. Its a marijuana reference. Some people smoke cones (where you place your pot/tobacco mix on the bong) in cars at ovals/carparks etc. I thought it was quite funny actually
  4. Spotted "THRILR" on high street in Ashburton today. I was in the silver 33 that passed you
  5. Im pretty sure there is no such thing as a series II two tone. Must of had a series 2 front end conversion on a series one car
  6. Gave a wave to a fellow SAU'er at BP near corner of high street and glen iris road as my GF ran in to grab maltesers. He was in a white R33 with aftermarket front bar, front mount and rims.
  7. Spotted a midnight purple R34 GTR with Nismo rims at BP on High Street opposite Glen Iris road at about 11PM last night. Have seen this car a fair few times now on high street around this area over the last 6 months
  8. Will do my best to rock up to this meet. Sounds like its gonna be a great turnout
  9. Spotted a nice clean R34 GT-T at Zagames car park in Holmesglen yesterday arvo. Was white and had Work rims but otherwise looked pretty stock.
  10. My father and I used J-Spec to import a R34 GTR about a year and a bit a ago. Craig and Ben were excellent to deal with and it was money well spent. Wayne at GT Auto did the compliancing and we were only too happy with the result. So yeah I would recommend both J-Spec and GT Auto
  11. Yeah that was me. Had to grab a text book from the bookshop.
  12. I got a stock R33 exhaust and would be interested in a swap. I'm in SE Melbourne
  13. Spotted what may be the same Murchie LP640 BBGTR saw 'briskly' driving down chapel street and then turning into dandenong road heading city bound late (11.00ish) on Sunday night. How is the exhaust legal because it was quite loud? Also spotted a black Ferrari 360 turning from Chapel street into dandenong road heading outbound at approx 4.00pm yesterday. It also had a loud exhaust that I wouldn't call legal
  14. I'm in Glen Iris. Would prefer a midweek meet or Saturday day meet as I study during the week and work weekends. I miss almost all club events because I work weekends but I am up for anything on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and maybe Thursday evening
  15. My family has owned 3 Skylines: 2001 R34 GTR 1997 S2 R33 GTS-T (202rwkw - Basic mods) 1997 S2 R33 GTS-T (255rwkw - Quite heavily modified) Main weaknesses i have found so far are: - stock clutch on R33 (needs changing at around 200rwkw) - stock turbo on R33 (needed changing 1 month after raising boost) - interior build quality on R33 (generally not bad however bland and prone to rattles) - expensive parts and maintenance on R33 & R34 - stock suspension on R33 (was too soft and needs to be upgraded) - MFD screen on R34 (sometimes would have a red line down screen when first turned on) - tyres on R33 & R34 (good tyres are needed to fully exploit handling, particularly R33, and get expensive especially with bigger/wider rims) Strengths include: *Diffs and gearboxes have been rock solid *Stock engine internals will reliably handle heaps of power *Brakes are strong with good pads but can be prone to squealing *So many other things I don't have time to mention
  16. I work on Chapel Street and late last year was pulled over by plain clothed cops in an unmarked white VY SS commodore. I see them around every weekend and they seem to be mainly interested in drug related activities as they are always hovering around Windsor station and will often pull over and have a ciggy next to the car and watch what people around the station are doing. They also occasionally seem to pull people over. (I witnessed them impound a car doing a burnout in front of Windsor Station) I wouldnt be too worried but I have been pulled over by a dude posing a cop before. I got pulled over by a dude wearing thongs who showed me no ID and just abused me for speeding. I thought I heard a house/car alarm going off and then looked in the rear view to see a mid 90's Toyota Landcruiser with blue and red lights on the bull bar. After abusing me for speeding he told me to "f**k off" and left. It was only at that point that it all clicked and I realised he wasn't a real cop because: - he had an old 4WD and not a late model car/4WD - the siren sounded like a car alarm and not a police siren - he had no uniform or ID - didn't ask to see my license - he didn't fine me for speeding just abused me for 5 minutes. So yeah beware if you see an older model black Landcruiser with a odd sounding siren trying to pull you over.
  17. nice and tidy. Well done
  18. I wanna see pics of the new rim and tyre package on the car
  19. I have almost the same rims as Jake33 and I only have issues very occasionally on full lock and my car sits pretty low on tein coilovers. As long as the car isn't massively dumped you should be right.
  20. That does look like a cat back exhaust. Make sure it will actually fit your car. I would recommend getting a 3" split dump and front pipe aswell as a high flow cat. This will make a much more noticeable difference plus if you intend to do any more mods your gonna need to upgrade the whole exhaust not just the cat back
  21. Count me in. I will probably chuck my car on the dyno too. Hopefully will have the actuator upgraded by then for a consistent 18psi
  22. Giggity
  23. Here are mine. Aren't located with practicality in mind but they do light up a nice blue colour which matches the Alpine head unit nicely. ***Woops didn't read the first post. GTR's will already have my style of gauges covered
  24. Why not get a Trust PE2? - Has a nice deep note and doesn't drone at all.
  25. Congratulations on the new ride. It looks very clean and straight. One of the best GTT's I have seen. I reckon they look so much better without the Nismo kit or whatever the factory option is.
