are your carbs a matched pair? adding carbs from one car to another or mixing and matching can be a real nightmare to get running right... it might be worth your money getting em synched properly and then getting it tuned. the only time i have ever heard someone complain about carbs is when they were not factory fitted ... once their set right they will stay in tune for a long time (at least webers do) theyre should be a few places in melbourne that specialise in carbs.

Which Is A Rev Happy Engine?
MrAnderson replied to sloutch's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
how rev happy an engine is has nothing to do with the displacement... its a function of the borexstroke ratio...and to a lessser extent the cam profiles...how reliably it does it comes down to how strong it is. generally a short stroke motor will be more 'rev happy' than a long stroke motor - but it will sacrifice this for torque.... thus the true answer to the question is go and do some research on the bore stroke of all those engines and then look at where on the rev scale they make peak torque and power and also what the rev limiter is set at...... and r32line - the reason for the difference between the 4cyl 2 litre and the 6cyl 2 litre is generally because they have spread the capacity of 2 litres across 6 pistons - and chosen to keep the stroke short - compared to the 4cyl its (prob) a very different borexstrok ratio... ps ... also changing the gearing ratio will effect things allot.... an old trick is to drop in a shorter ratio box, while you lose some top spead you have better acceleration and a somewhat 'revier' car to drive -
i hope you dont use net banking! theyre logging your keystrokes

Anyone Have A Small Turbo They Don't Need Anymore?
MrAnderson replied to Deluxe's topic in South Australia
make sure you get a proper turbo carby of a wreck or similair - youll spend forever trying to get it to work on a normal carb - and even if u do youll prob lean out and pop your engine -
you can also decoke your engine (thats what they used to call it back when it needed to be done every 30k) by simply running it on the highway for a bit - add some injector cleaner as well if you want.

do you get austudy? assuming your car is in good nick - why sell it? just drive it less?

How To Clean Spoked Wheels.
MrAnderson replied to The_Bazzanator's topic in General Automotive Discussion
at work we use this nasty green sh*t called 'G101' - it eats brake dust for breakfast, and as long as you dont leave it on their it wont eat your paint... just dont get it in your eye 'DE gogles dey do NOTHING!!' hehe -
exekiel what are you using to stop detonation? you say your using pump are you also using methanol/water injection? sounds like allot of boost for 10.2:1

my 2c - i hope your body work is straight - black is prob the hardest colour to get right... a mask and spray with some proper prep might get done for 2k.... i dont think people realise how much work goes into preping a car right...this is where all the cost is. i stripped my car myself, and reasembled it myself. basically everything off except the front door windows - everything else off and it was 2.5k at mates rates (i had some panel work and rust done as well) was from a gold silver to blue silver - heres the before and after... you can get good results not using 2pac (mine was sprayed) but 2pac is longer lasting

Removing Very Light Scratches Off Paintwork?
MrAnderson replied to geno8r's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
just be carefull when you do it... 1.minimal elbow grease - small amount of cut and light pressure - you would be amazed how quickly you can f*k your paint 2.do the entire panel in an even manner - other wise you will end out with a visible faded area. luckily your car is white! white hides all -
i found this torrent the other day - no need for an emulator like MAME - just load the .iso and install...reliving all my arcade memories - this was such a sweet platformer http://www.mininova.org/tor/326998

im sorry for your friend but i really cant understand how someone would hand over 1k$ to someone who they have only talked to over the phone without at least investigating ways of making things safer - such as - registered and insured post or cash on delivery.... unfortunately u just cant trust people
-
interesting thread. wouldnt the afm be a intake restriction compared to a map sensor? that could account for minor power difference
