  1. Have to agree... You're not gaining much anyway, the SR20 is a good engine, mod that up Unless you have an older 180, in that case swap the CA18 for an SR20
  2. Its basically just a shock absorber similar to the dampers in you suspension. Its conected between the top of the engine and the body of the car. It stops the engine from vibrating as much and stops it twisting on the engine mounts due to high levels of torque. It does this through vibration isolation, which basically means that when the engine is vibrating more due to it getting closer to its own harmonic frequency, this vibration is absorbed by the damper and not transfered to the chasis. Below is a picture so you get an idea
  3. I hate it when people don't have respect for other peoples thing You can easily replace them, check this out http://www.justjap.com/parts_nbadges.htm
  4. Check out this thread. Just about all the answers are there for you http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=33407
  5. Have to agree with you here man. The Hamann F430 is awesome. If I had the money, I'd do this for sure! Want more pics? I got plenty
  6. Give Kermit on this forum a PM. I think he can do just about anything with aluminium
  7. I have a Marshall one. Don't know any specs. Hope that helps
  8. I would have to agree. Kermit did my exhaust and after seeing it, my friend wants him to do the same to his wrx. Will tell him to give subaru a call and then let you know kermit
  9. How about try learning from your mistakes. Keep it to the race track, that way you wouldn't be in this predicament. Besides, if you just snub off the SS, it would probably piss him off even more. Just give his car the once look over and make out like his not worth the waste of petrol. That really gets them fired up :laughing-smiley-014:
  10. Cold air intake will make a difference, as R34GTFOUR said you can notice the difference between driving at night or during the day. This shows that there is obviously a difference. Don't get confused about why you want cold air. Its not because it will keep your engine cool. As R34GTFOUR also mentioned, its the density of the air you are looking for. The more air in the engine, the more power you get out. That is the whole concept behind turbos. To force more air in and get more power out. To say that a lot of air is rushing into your engine bay is not really that true. Yes, air is coming in, but if you're going 60km/h, its coming in alot slower than that due to the fact that there is no way for the air to easily get out. This means it has time to heat up before going into your engine. That is why vented bonnets are often used. They let the air coming in the front force the hot air out the vents in the bonnet. One of the reasons why modded cars in mags don't have CAI is because they have high mount turbos with large pipes that take up a lot of room. In many cases there simply isn't any room for a CAI. On top of that, when you have that much power, your car will be crazy either way, so why struggle with it. For a stock car, I wouldn't bother. Rather spend you money on a high flow panel filter such as K&N etc. Hope this helps
  11. Hey Kermit I've got a friend that saw my exhaust and loved it. He owns a WRX and was also looking at getting a cat back, 3" same as the one you put on my R33. I was wondering if the $550 deal was still going. He still needs to get a muffler and also find out whether adding the exhaust will void his warranty, so he isn't looking at doing it right away, but definately in the near future.
  12. That's an awesome job! Now you've got me rethinking my design Might take me a couple of weekends to put it all together. I'll post up some pics when I'm done
  13. Cool, thanks for the advice Might start some measuring up and designing this weekend
  14. Hey guys Just needed some advice... I want to rebuild my boot so that my sub (12") fits into the right hand side of the boot. I want it moulded in so that it can be as out of the way as possible so I can utilise the rest of my boot space. Atm my boot is half filled with a sub box. What I was wondering is, if I do the moulding with fibre glass, what is the likelihood of it cracking. I want to build an MDF frame and make the fibre glass mouldings around it, but I'm worried about cracking the same way fibre glass bodly kits crack over time. Is there a better way of doing it or should I not worry about this. I figured that with the extra rigidity of a good frame, this may not even be a problem. Any advice or previous experience would be greatly appreciated
  15. The main difference is between series I and series II. Series I's don't have airbags where as series II's do. From what I understand this does change the boss kit. You can get HKB boss kits for $80 from AutoBarn. Just let them know what its for I got mine there for my '93 model R33, and it fits perfect.
  16. You just had to spoil the surprise, didn't you! I was going to watch this space, but know I now the ending. What an anticlimax.
  17. If you're looking at getting a GTT then you won't be getting an LCD screen. They are only on GTR's. You'll either get the three guages or nothing. I'm not too sure what determines guages or no guages though. Good luck with the search.
  18. Good luck in the search This will give you a lot of info on buying a skyline and what to look for: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=35129 If you're looking for a service manual, I can point you to one too. Just send me a PM and let me know
  19. Give Kermit a call from these forums. He does all sorts of custom work. Not sure about manifolds. He made my exhaust and he's work is very proffessional. Check out this thread. His contact info is there... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=141182
  20. This is not a sensor. Its a vacuum valve. On the stock exhaust there are two outlet pipe. Only one is open. As the revs of the car get higher, the second opens up too. Not sure about turbo models, but I know that this is the case for the N/A R33's. I only found out when my stock exhaust got ripped off for a 3" mandril bent exhaust with 5" outlet Since you have a non-turbo (assuming cause of you user name) the exhaust will be loader than the equivilant exhaust on a turbo. This is because the turbo effectively acts like another muffler. I would say get a silencer that you can just plug into the outlet of your exhaust. Thats what I've done. Haven't had any trouble with cops and its a bit quieter in the car too.

  22. I know just how you feel man. I owned my R33 for 3 days when someone keyed mine. Right outside the front door of my work too. What really sux is that they didn't just key one panel. They went right down the passenger side from the front quater, through the door and onto the rear quater. All right throught to the metal. Could have killed someone
  23. Is this an R32 or R33? 1993 was the change over year, but given the price I'm going to assume R32. Insurance will depend a lot on whether its a turbo model or not. You have said GTS and not GTSt so I'm assuming its a non-turbo. This means your insurance will be around $1.2k, if not more. (Based on what I got for my R33) You should rather put the car under your name anyway. This gives you an insurance record and means that your cost of insurance will come down with a clean record. Timing belts are better done by someone who knows what they're doing, so rather get someone to do it for you. Its not too expensive. If you are taking a financial risk, then don't do it. Skylines can be very expensive and the last thing you want is to have to sell it cause you can't afford to keep it. To give you an idea, three months after buying mine, my water pump died. Just one of those things that can't be predicted. If this happens to you, you need to have some extra cash to fix the problem. Consider all costs including servicing and petrol as it adds up fast. Remember you have to put in Ultimate (98 RON). Its gonna be up to $1.50 soon. Good luck, let us know what you end up doing R33-GTS
  24. Gotta love the chaser This is what I'm looking at getting in the next couple of years. The chaser will be me daily driver and my R33 will get turned into a drag/weekend car If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get your chaser for and who did you import it through. PM me if you like.
  25. I'm sure all of you with N/A skylines are in the same boat. I really want to do a 5 stud conversion. I found this on just jap... http://www.justjap.com/parts_nhubs.htm and was wondering if anyone has tried one or know which one to get. There isn't a specific skyline one, but they may be some what universal. Any info would be great. Also, how do they exactly work. Are they effectively a spacer with five studs holding onto your four studs. Cause I don't really like that idea, or do you change the whole this. The picture is confusing me. Cheers
