The car is here in Perth, you can see it and touch it...the auction grade probably doesnt matter. If you are happy with the car, then purchase it. If you are suspect then maybe get an independant workshop to give it a once over (small cost for piece of mind) but keep in mind that its hard to tell the condition of every part in the car. Turbo/gearbox/diff etc may let go after you drive it for a week or so but thats part of the risk of buying a secondhand car...it sucks but it happens....it can happen with anything with moving parts. Get the car checked by a mechanic for all mechanicals and for further piece of mind get the car on a wheel alignment machine to see if there is any major damage from a previous crash. Also, you didnt mention what sort of car it is or the KM it has traveled. Maybe with a few more details a few members here can tell you what to look out for. eg Coilpacks at 60-70000km, clutch anywhere from 80000-100000km depending on how it has been driven, radiator around 120000km, 100000 service due etc etc etc Gtr's tend to spin bearings around 100000km? Very few imports are 100% perfect. All you can do is look at it as hard as possible and if you decide your happy with it, buy it.

If you read the proposal for the bullsbrook burnout pad, it to will have times you can go, and times you cant....so dont think it can be used as a spare of the moment "im bored" thing to do. As for track days and licenses being expensive....look at how much we spend on our cars. $3k for shinny wheels, $3k for new turbo, $1k for intercooler, Couple hundred for guages, $couple grand on aftermarket front bar and cf bonnet, $2-3k for engine management and tuning etc etc and the list can go on. Why is it deemed expensive to go club racing. $40 membership (once a year), $88 CAMS license (once a year), Event entry $75-150 per event. So if you do 6 events a year (average 1 every 2 months) then its around $1000 a year to get out on the track where you can drive the car hard, improve your own driving ability, realise what your car can and cant do and fosuc on improving it. Nothing better that making changes to a car and see the lap times drop. There is no skill in sliding around a corner on the street or doing a burnout or racing away at a set of traffic lights while risking soemthing going wrong and ending up with what could be a very fatal crash with people who are innocent and just trying to drive and go about their own business. Greg, this is no means at go at you personally or your comments, its just the other side of the fence.

Exactly! To make it work the owners would have to charge people to use the pad, and people wont pay anyway....thats why we dont get too many drivers to the ttrack days.

Even the motorplex has public liability insurance. Youll also notice they must have a certain amount of staff there, plus Ambulance and fire vehicles etc etc (also staff have to be trained in certain areas etc) Not to mention Andra being involved so those fees/licences need to be paid for and issued.
-
I think its up to the owner of the land to ensure public liability insurance? Would be very costly though so probably wouldnt happnen if on pvt property. In the event iof a big incident (crash, injury or death) the owner of the land would be 100% liable.

LOL Its funny coz its true!!! KE55 Corolla FTW! However it did have twin carbies I traded that for gemini's You fiond somewhere to LEGALLY do burnouts and ill come give it a go!

My boss has 12 cars or so. Is he expected to remember when the rego is due on all of them incase the DPI has a 'clerical delay'? Considering he cant remember what he did yesterday it might be a problem hahaha
-
They wont get off the 'hoon band wagon' while there are complete dickheads like Kurt from Mandurah who brags about it and clearly shows no respect to law enforcement. There is always going to be that minority though. Why does everyone not go and get a race license and get out on the track. I personally never get impressed by a burnout...but to see some good laps times at AHG or Wanneroo etc, then those times improve....that impresses me (both car and driver)

This is true. A few months ago i was driving a car not owned by me, a highway patrol car was in another lane and as it went to pass me, it slowed, pulled in behind me and pulled me over. I was informed the vehicle was owned by an unlicensed driver and i had to produce my license etc to show it wasnt me. I think the whole no rego sticker is a good idea...however i think DPI might need to get their system in order first. Im sure im not the only one who has looked at the sticker on the window and then had to ring up for the paperwork as it had not been sent yet due to 'clerical delays and errors'. With out the sticker, i imagin alot of people will not know when its due. Also when i drive a customers car on the road, what happens if it turns out the vehicle is unregistered? I guess im the one who gets the fine?

No matter where it is, it wont work....especially since it has the support of the police who will 'supervise for safety'. While i think its a good idea to have police support, i can see them coming down hard on people there the very moment some hero opens his mouth or does something stupid or damages a car due to 'recklessness' etc....which will happen. I think its a great idea to do this and have it out away from suburbia but i dont think it work and it keeps police busy and away from other stuff that may be needed urgently in the area and the Ellenbrook police are limited in numbers as it is already. Just my 2 cents

Burnout pad in Bullsbrook= Fail.

Public cruises can be an issue due to a minority of hero's showing how cool they are by spinning the wheels at every take off etc....or prooving how tough they are by mouthing off at the police who attend to see whats going on. We do SAUWA members only cruises....good bunch of guys all driving Skylines (with the odd Stagea, silvia and 350z), no hero's and no problems from the boys in blue. In fact on a members cruise if that was to happen, the person involved would be told to leave immediately!

In the past i have taken broken studs to Mr Mag and places like that who can normally match them up. I believe Coventry's sell studs as well and as long as they are on display at the store you go to you stand a chance of finding a match. If you rely on the parts monkeys at the counter of Coventry's store to match it up for you, it will probably be deemed too hard and they 'wont have anything to match' etc coz they cant be bothered.
-
Can the seller not supply you any documentation to show it has been registered? If not, id say walk away or you may end up buying a 'track car'.....not that that is such a bad thing

I would go Bilstein over Koni in a Skyline. I have the Bilstein PSS9 coilovers at the moment. There is 1 kit left and if another forum user doesnt purchase them soon, they will be available. D2's, i wouldnt touch them. Id rather waste the money on beer than cheap china suspension parts. Super Streets are also very good, however with the exchange rate at the moment, they will be close to $3000 mark.
