Another 'which Exhaust?' Question
mark32gts-t replied to NRV155's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You probably wont see any gains from just adding a cannon onto the stock exhaust. The size of the exhaust piping, the type of bends used as well as the cat converter determine how free flowing the exhaust is. Even adding a cat back exhaust will probably only see a small gain if any. If you dont have the funds to get a turbo back 3" exhaust and a new cat start off with the cat back and then as you get the money add a 3" dump/front pipe and then a better flowing cat converter. Thats the way I have gone, I picked up a mandrel bent 3" cat back exhaust a couple of months ago and am about to add a dump/front pipe. Then in a month or two want to get a 3" metal cat fitted when I have a spare $400 (gotta love christmas) -
Hey ppl. My new dump pipe from just jap came yesterday. I am going to North QLD for christmas so wont be fitting it till early January. Some pics below. I'm thinking while I'm replacing the pipe I might do the o2 sensor at the same time, seeing as tho it has probably never been replaced and may aid in better fuel economy (even tho I am getting about 450kms from a tank with city driving, which I am generally happy with) . I'm either going genuine nissan or an NTK one from Kudos Motorsports in the Classifieds section on here. Anyone have any suggestions on what o2 sensor to get? Cheers and have a good christmas

Bad luck man. You will have to have a look at the engine manual to determine what sequance the bolts need to be torqued in. As well as the recommended torque. Depends what type of gasket you are going to use, either metal head gasket or a cheaper composite one. If you plan on making more power go with a metal head gasket, will be more costly tho. From what I know you dont use any gasket material when replacing the gasket. Most head gasket manufacturers recommend not using any gasket material. Just need to make sure the block and head surfaces are clean. Get the head shaved, can get them done for around $60.

Clean Line - It Sucks Not Having Water To Wash Cars

cheers simmo. and I agree with Col-GTSX, I would think if the car was really dirty it would scratch the paint using waterless spray wash. -

Clean Line - It Sucks Not Having Water To Wash Cars
mark32gts-t replied to mark32gts-t's topic in Queensland
I don't think there is anything wrong with tank water. It does depend on where you live tho. All the polution and shit that is in the atmosphere often comes down in the form of rain with a not so paint friendly pH. But I don't think brisbane really has that problem. The tank I used has a pump on it anyway which has a filter to remove any crap from the water. Its not my tank so thats why I dont use it regularly to clean my car. -
Hey everyone, just finished washing my car. Seeing as though it doesn't get washed very often anymore due to water restrictions I thought I should take some pics of how sexy it is. even if it is is pretty much a stocker. And before you call the city council it was washed with tank water which was filtered through a pump. not massively keen on doing it but I figured it cant be much worse than the recycled water they use at car washes these days.... makes me sad knowing it probably wont be washed for another couple of months.

Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
mark32gts-t replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey guys, I am in the process of cleaning some RB20 covers and then painting them. Sanding them back, not to bare metal but enough to give the paint a good base to stick to. I bought these covers and they aren't off my car. One of the hose fittings was rusted and I planned on removing it and putting my good ones in once they have been painted. It took me a little while to figure out how to remove them, they turned but didn't appear to be coming out. So I drilled a small hole on the inside of the cover, through the baffle on the inside and knocked the fitting out with a mallet and punch. I have also degreased them and washed them out. But will be cleaning them again once completely sanded back and then taping them and giving them a final clean with some wax and grease remover before painting. My question now is will me having drilled a hole in the baffle make any difference to its purpose??? I presume it is there purely to prevent oil from being sucked out and to only remove vapour???? any thoughts would be appreciated -
They are for stock R32 gts-t wheels, tyre size is 205/55/16 i think

As topic states, need new tyres pretty soon and any recommendations would be appreciated. I am looking at spending around $160 per tyre. As many people say you cant trust tyre shop guys. Most of them just want to move stock. Cheers

Very Very Very Anooying Problem With Boot...
mark32gts-t replied to tyaos's topic in General Maintenance
Had a similar problem in my 32, when ever i'd wash my car (when we could still use water here in QLD) the left tail light would fill up and spare tyre hole would be slightly wet. Luckily it hadn't started rusting. Just removed the tail lights and re-sealed both of them. Solved the problem. Hopefully yours will we as straight forward. Removing tail lights is pretty simple. good luck with it -
the readings on each coil stays constant, but when I put the tester terminals together the numbers jump all over the place. What would this indicate? Cheers
-
what meter would you recommend? where would I go about buying one? still dick smith/tandy just not a dick smith one? Thanks
-
I tested the resistance of my coils today using a dick smith multi-tester. From the manual the resistance is meant to be 0.6-0.9 ohms. Mine read from 1.3 to 2.2. I'm not sure if I had the multi-tester set to the right thing. So here is a picture of the setting I used . Is this the right measurement? It seemed to be the only logical one as all the other resistance settings read the wrong thing. ie they weren't in the 0.0 reading. Maybe its time to fork out $500 on new coils from nengun. Does it look like I've used the right setting? Cheers

hey sky20det, as patto1234 said what HID globes did you get? They do look heaps better than the stock globes.

how much would a compressor weigh? I just did a aus post calculation, to send a 10kg parcel 20cmx20cmx20cm from brisbane to perth would be $30.75. I dont think a compressor weighs close to 10kg. so $30 would be ample I'd say -
cheers from me too

would a ring spanner fit in there? undo the clip and put the wire through the ring spanner hole??? although the clip might be too big to fit through the ring spanner... give it a try anyway

I have this same problem, my lights point very far down. I've seen in the GTR manual you are able to adjust them. but the picture isn't very clear and I cant see what has to be adjusted. could someone post a picture for us? Would be a great help. Cheers

usually an oil temp gauge requires a sending unit to be placed somewhere that comes in contact with the oil. You can buy these oil filter sandwhich plates from justjap for $30 , then the sending unit from the gauge gets screwed into the plate itself. Here is another diagram from the autometer website . go to the instructional download section on the site and have a look at some of their instructions. it really depends which type of gauge you are using, mechanical or electronic. they differ a little...

here is the diagram for the air/fuel ratio. it may be different depending on what gauge you have.
