I'm a struggling GTR owner..bought it and absolutely loved it when I took it for the first drive. Then on the third drive,my mate was running the car in RWD and gave it some stick and the crank key broke and the power steering wasnt going.$500 later it was fixed..then same mate took it for a drive to show his gf what my car was all about.Came back with oil light RED. Took it to the mechanic who said the oil pump was damaged..$4000 after installing new N1 oil pump,water pump (we did the labour ourselves in my mechanics workshop with a awesome gus help) and just paid for using the workshop which was $200.All the parts plus towing I hadta pay for..crank collar was also fitted plus new bearings. Car was running again...till we realised it was running slow..missing at times.Took it mechanic who said the turbos were gone:O Looked everywhere in NZ for stock turbos (as was the only thing i could afford) and hadta buy it off Paragon from here (SAU)..had them put on,took off all the plumbing myself etc just to save a little bit of money. Now car is running alright,needs new injectors and cant afford those..plus the amount of fuel it takes just puts me off from taking it out everytime.Now its a monthly driver..lol. So yeah maintaining them is hard..expensive but if you look after it well,it will serve you well.I've stopped looking for extra power (might just buy a PowerFC later on)but just focusin on making the engine run better like oil cooler,etc etc..

I have done a fair amount of research,read the FAQs sticky on here,and the relevant government agency sites and can't quite come up with an answer. Heres the story..I bought a 1990 R32 GTR track car (thats not registered in my country and can't be)and had intentions to further modify it and use it as a weekend track car. However my situation has changed and I have plans to move to aussie to work (hard work to modify the GTR as much as possible) as the lifestyle and weather is more to my liking.However I can't seem to find how id be able to import the gtr. Anyone got any ideas or I might have to leave the car behind:( i've found this section appealing but can't quite understand it.I've owned the car only 7months now. "Vehicles built before 1 January 1989 may be imported to Australia without restriction. An import approval is still required and the enclosed application from should be used. "The vehicle must be built prior to 1 January 1989 unless it meets the transitional arrangement below: If you made a financial commitment and purchased a 1989 or 1990 vehicle prior to 7 February 2005 you may apply to import your vehicle until 31 December 2005; but If the vehicle is a 1990 year of manufacture you may only apply on or after the month when the vehicle turns 15 years old, eg a vehicle manufactured in September 1990 can be applied for import in September 2005 provided there was a financial commitment before 7 February 2005. " Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there..I have read a little about those and really dont know how they work.Though I was surprised that theres a electronic cupercharger kit for sale for a celica thats part of the aftermarket air intake kit..its boxy shaped and real small (cant see no belts or nothing like those normal superchargers)and its fitted right after the air intake.And theres supposedly some power and torque gains from those but havnt been proven and ive never met anyone whos had them installed.Nor any other article that supports that product. Funnily enough..I was told by a mate (who knows his sh*t about supras) about electronic turbochargers which are a cheap option for power gains but can only boost up to 5psi.Anyone else head of them? Havnt heard much about slightly increased turbo response from installing Earth kits..like someone else said its just good earthing as time will wear away everything on cars..its just wise to install better earthing kits.There are some gains. Oh wow,ill be in that same situation in the next few months..planning to store my car for two years or longer..since I dont think I can import my gtr track car into Aus:( May I ask why its a good idea to remove the tyres?

Hey there Amanda,wow sorry to hear that something so bad has shaken you up.Its sad that we have to come across drivers like that who risk endaring themselves and others lives. Anyway I dont know about Aus..but here you can call the cops and report a driver (using the number plate) and the cops would look into it..make serious inquires if its a case of life endangerment by that motorist. So yeah follow Br3tt and Yo-Yos advice and call the cops and talk to them about what happened.See what they have to say. Hope they can sort things out.Cheers..

sorry off topic guys,but do you need to get a cert to have an aftermarket computer on your car? I know in NZ we do..the laws there seem so much more stricter though.

Hey there guys,ive done searches on SDU and on here (yes read the Rb26 dyno figures with mods sticky thrice!) and need a little of your help. I've got a R32 GTR (135K ks on the motor) with stock turbos running at 10psi. Mods are Bigger fuel pump (unknown spec) Larger cams (also unknown spec) ARC intercooler with 3inch HKS piping(handles up to 1000ps) Piggyback ECU full rollcage tein suspension (circuit spec) N1 oil pump and aftermarket crank collar and katimoto (or kakitomo..lol,dont remember the name correctly)3inch exhaust. HKS electronic boost controller (not plugged in) Im possibly looking for more power (if it wont cost too much) and found a pair of HKS2530s for sale..What would be the most MINIMAL mods to support those turbos(I plan not to run them to high boost to maintain reliability). I know for a fact the injectors would be maxed..so SARD 700cc injectors are needed.Possibly a powerfc?Or can I tune the piggyback?(dont know much about them)And would I need an aftermarket manifold? And would the gearbox need strengthening? (as ive read the 3rd gear becomes a worry with the car having more than 450hp) Anyway Id appreciate it if anyone could just offer some advice..

wow,have you got a R31 GTSR?..Im guessing so as you have the Rb20DET in it..is it the red top version?I heard those put out 450hp in race trim with minor mods. Got a R31 here in NZ with a RB26DETT for sale going for $13K cash!

Thanks R31Nismoid..ive read that already a few days ago and it seems really confusing.But read it again today and it cleared up some things.Dont like the look of those Garett turbos kicking in at around 5500revs though. Excellent read though:D

Hey there,my friend moved from NZ to Aussie to try and get a job in any economist or analyst jobs in Sydney.She hasnt got a degree..well she needs to get two years experience in either a economist or analyst job before she can get her degree(shes done all the studying required for the job). Im looking at the same amount of power in my gtr as well.Good to see someone else is in the same boat as me. Pnblight does the Garret Gt2560r 707160-5 have the same specs and spools at the same revs as the HKS2530 ?Just wondering because I hear HKS basically sells Garret turbos but with the HKS name,so want to know if theres any difference besides the names.. Cheers.

Lol..dont think your flame suit can protect you from shotgun pellets! They changed touring cars from turbos to v8s so the v8s can start having a chance at winning! Makes me wonder though if a NSX-R can beat those v8 touring cars..

I didnt ask him how much but asked why he was selling it (as I think he bought it a few months ago)and he said it was too much money to be tied up in a car.I did see it for sale on a trading site here going for less than $NZ250,000 so hm you probably need to rob just one bank:P

Ive got a 1000ps ARC cooler on my gtr and its perfect..boost does come on a lil faster.I love it! Dezz..that R34 Nur in your avatar..It came into work and I got to drive it..its breathtaking to see it in person.Owner currently sellin it:(
