  1. Why would it not be legit? You can buy an early GT-R for 7k in japan, just gotta look, and it mightn't be perfect, but generally from what I've seen Km's aren't too bad, and most don't have any accident history. Double the dollars, should buy and awesome car, which that is. Alsom the buddy club p1 VS R34 rims, maybe thats because you can sell R34 rims for more than P1's cost new-The buddy club's were like 550-600 each last I checked. R34 rims are getting up to 3500 with tyres cheers, floody
  2. I think a company called steve cramer products is the ohlins importer, I might be wrong, but they used to do the motorbike stuff I think , and I'm sure I heard they were now doing car stuff. Ohlins, just for your info mick, are one of the most expensive/BEST quality brands of shock absorbers in the world. They would knock bilstein, koni, tein, tokico etc for six in terms of quality engineering. That said, I am surprised they are leaking? but eveything wears out I suppose. cheers, floody
  3. Yep, I want to go to 5x114.3 on my r31 (aussie). I understand I'll need import front struts for the brake calipers, but I'm at aloss on brakes themselves? Can I run r32 type m calipers and front disks? What hubs? will the r32 ones fit? and then what about wheel offset-apart from clearance for calipers, will it change the offset, with the bigger discs, different hub assy etc? could I redrill R31 hubs? I would just be redrilling the rear flanges, dunno bout disks and calipers there though. Oh and what offset are R33 gts-t stock 16" rims, stock GT-R R32 rims, and gts-t r32 rims (but only being 6.5" I dunno if I want them)? Mainly the fronts I'm worried about, anyone able to help? cheers, floody
  4. well my 8.3 ish 0-100s translate into roughly low 16 quarters on the gtech. is that any help? cheers, floody
  5. Targa Tom, are you driving the R32 GTS-T entry that I saw on the news here in tassie a couple of nights ago? cheers, floody
  6. How exactly does the RB25DE and RB26DETT inlet manifold stud pattern differ?Could I get a diagram with measurements of thse anywhere? is it just one or two studs that could be relocated, or is it more involved than that? I just think the RB26 throttles and plenum would be useful in a NA performance application, they might be expensive, but its gotta be cheaper than a DCOE manifold and 3 dcoe TB's. cheers, floody
  7. Sorry menios, I just got the impression you were saying that the pendulum motion of a rally car was caused by it swinging out of control side to side- e.g that if you hit the brakes the car always just swings around on its own, without having to do anything with the steering-, which we both know, unless it was an extreme rutted gravel road, would be a symptom of pretty average chassis setup. I mean, regardless what rally car you are running, awd, rwd whatever, it should pull up fairly straight and true, unless you don't want it to (e.g setting up for a bend) ? right? Anyway, sorry mate, its just your post was a *little* unclear. I must say, you're the first rally driver I've come across who hadn't heard the term scandinavian flick before So tell me so that I can do it properly, in a rwd car, to set it up for a bend, with the pendulum technique, where do I do my braking? cheers, floody
  8. "In the world of drifting and rallying"? do you have anything to do with rallying? ever met a rally driver? scandinavian flick is the most common colloquial term they use for the left/right/left (or vice versa) flick technique, to set the car up into a slide. It is not done because the car is all over the place with locked wheels (though they might be locked up), its done to set the car up on the right attitude for the corner, and its more efficient than yanking the handbrake, a clutch kick or most of the techniques touted by the drift(rice)boys. Also think about the physics-unless there is something wrong with the geometry/axle location of your car, braking hard will not make it sway side to side down the road, unless there is some outside factor. Ok that done, so is this inertia drift you speak of a method of making a car slide through artificially inducing instability under braking? through weird suspension setup, excessive front end dive or adverse brake biasing? Someone once said- "drift workshops- you mean you pay them money to make your car handle like shit?!?" cheers, floody
  9. NA or GTS-T? e.g are they 4 or five stud? cheers, floody [email protected]
  10. I would like to have 6 trumpets poking out, but really a nice plenum/intake tube such as the gt-r setup is a better option-I want the car to still be relatively quiet*, and not to suck in small birds, kittens etc. Now I figure if the breathing side is opened up with the six throttles/exhaust/cams, and I go to town on having the crank machined (knife edged, balanced, and maybe lightened, as well as nitrided) then it should rev somewhat harder than 6400 when asked, right? A big factor is whether the GT-R plenum and throttles would be a plus or minus performance wise-I'm willing to assume they would flow better than the long runner/single throttle setup, but I'm not sure. And, as I asked, does anyone even know if they fit? *IN terms of quiet, it would be getting a 2.5 inch exhaust, with a good cat, and some kind of NA-cannon style exhaust (tanabe style) with a nice, restrictive baffle fitted for the street cheers, floody
  11. Holy shit! well If I could achieve 100hp/litre I'd be stoked, but you reckon 280hp is achievable? mad! Of course I'd also like to run the thing on pump gas so the standard compression would have to stay, and I want it to be pretty streetable (only got one car )so I might aim a little lower than 280hp.....I didn't realise they made that kind of power stock, so I'm conservatively thinking, maybe a goal from about 230-250hp would be relistic, if its still going to be street driven.Anyway, cool, thanks for the input Nismodified. Anybody know what kind of RPM the rb25de bottom end (stock crank, rods, balancer, pistons) can handle on a regular basis. I'm not going to scream its head off on the street. Are the GT-R throttles/plenum a good idea? I was mainly thinking that, second hand, they would have to be cheaper than say EFI Hardware's dcoe style ones, and a custom manifold. Of course I don't even know if the bolt patterns match up? cheers, floody
  12. I'm considering a few engine options for my r31, with the idea being for street driving, with supersprints/trackdays as well. I am thinking, RB25DE, with good extractors, exhaust, mild cams (step one or something),a bit of headwork, and maybe GT-R six throttle intake/injectors, good cold air setup, Haltech computer. Also would like to balance the bottom end and raise the rev limiter a bit, run a real light flywheel too. what sort of power do you reckon I could be going for? I want over 210hp at the engine. cheers, floody
  13. I always thought that inertia drift was just one of the "dorifto names" for the old feint drift ttechnique. If so then yeah, for a right turn, flick it hard left, then flick hard right, as the weight is about to transfer get the tyres loose and presto, sideways. Its the only way I can get the rear out predicably with the meagre power of my rb30e, aside from late drift coming out of a Corner. It would be the best way to link multiple left and rights, which you can do by ,in essence, over correcting so that at the end of the slide through bend number one it flicks into a slide through bend 2. Its the same physics principle as when you get over confident and under skilled and start whiteknuckle fishtailing down the road when you over correct, you know how the car flicks right uncontrollably from the left etc when you are not in tune with the controls? you are trying to do this in a controlled fashion. cheers, floody
  14. The White's had a monumental crash in rally tas recently I believe, dunno if they'll be in targa or not? All the N1's in the world can come down to Tassie, but I really doubt Richards will lose while he is still breathing and entering targa! barring crashes, mechanical failures of course. Its a wonder porsche don't just sponsor targa, its already tailor made for the bloody things. I'd love to see a GTR take it though. Also like to see the GTS-X that runs get up there in the modern classics... cheers, floody
