  1. Long as you guys don't 'service' people without lube* like someone did before, should be ok. *I don't mean automotive fluids.
  2. I'll join your fight in fact... http://www.vivagarage.com.au/nissan/nissan..._aeroparts.html Lookee here, R31House/Uras kit copies, even knocked off the images from R31house. Slack.
  3. Oh, awesome, well be sure to let us know when your next massive industry insider scoop happens on this one.
  4. Yeah I thought it was an interesting story when I read about it. One would think more info would have surfaced after a whole year though, surely?
  5. Lots of differences, but largely the above, plus the diff is different (smaller axles), trim levels are different, instruments are different...and so on.
  6. Where can I purchase one of those sarcasm detector devices? Will it work under XP? is there a wireless version?
  7. Oh rubbish, even Volk custom sizes are generally between $1100-2k a rim. Nothing like $20k. Volk, SSR, Work, AME and others will all do custom sizes within certain ranges. Not to mention Simmons, ROH.... That said the KWC range on Showwheels site looks quite reasonable. I can imagine with satin or painted centres some would almost look classy.
  8. Can I clarify this though, are we saying lookalike = counterfeit though, or copy badged as the real thing = counterfeit? Well I had no idea there was such a significant problem in Australia, I've never actually seen a true counterfeit item, i.e. one purporting to be equivalent to or the same as the original. Cheap copies or similar, yes, all the plenums, catch cans and such. But I gather thats not what you're aiming at. Of course I agree 100% that making an inferior product that is portrayed as equivalent or identical to the bespoke one is entirely wrong. Something I find intriguing is that plenty of the JDM companies surely had to have got their start in a very similar way to the counterfeiters, through copying bespoke USA and European parts. Heck, Nissan got itself off the ground post world war II building licensed Austins, and even the famous L-series motors have more than a nod to Mercedes-Benz designs. I suppose the innovation you keep referring to is the significant difference, there being a drive to improve upon the copy and consistently refine it which seems missing from the counterfeiters.
  9. Nice as the Nismo ones are, they aren't what I'd call flares, they're just body mouldings. I think the OP actually wants more track, which they'd be useless for. Love the car in the original post, flares or not, silver BNR33 with white rims is an epic win.
  10. Adam/"The tuners group", I'm not advocating BUYING counterfeit gear - I don't, I run genuine Nissan or quality aftermarket parts exclusively - I'm just sick to fvcking death of holier than thou twats prattling on about what a massive issue it is. And funnily enough, it all sounds redundant coming from someone with a vested financial interest in reducing their competition. As for datruthcometh...whoop dee doo. You know what, maybe someone should make a blog to thrash the idiot ricer Americans who mostly perpetrate the entire issue. End of the day, those who want/need/can afford quality will buy it, and companies with competitive structures and sound strategies will survive. At the same time, sideways cap 240sx and civic drivers in Buttf**k, USA will keep buying the crap. I suppose I won't earn any JayDeeEm points for this post but whatever.
  11. You know what? I'm sick of this propaganda crap. Compete or die.
  12. As the title states, set of 17x8" +18, 17x9" +35 Lehrmeister Stich rims. Some dish, 4+5x114.3 multifit. All centrecaps included. Will check caliper clearance tomorrow on my 33 4pots.No front tyres, camber worn 235s on rear pair. Neat fit for R31, S13, R32, R33 etc, both 4 and 5 stud cars. One rim has a gouge which is a little unsightly but doesn't seem to affect function. Wheels are 3 piece so can be repaired if desired. In Hobart. $500. Gouge on front rim; Also have Japanese Stern brand 4x114.3 25mm bolt on spacers, good condition, minus one nut, Nissan thread pitch. $75.
  13. Spotted a nice white 32 GT-R with regamaster rims, chapel street spec rideheight in North Hobart last week. Spotted 11nty billion R33 GTS-Ts.
  14. I've searched and come up with nothing... I have a S1 RS4, it has occasionally been 'jumping' out of OD at cruise. It seems to only do it late at night for some reason, after the car has been sitting for some time....At least thats the only time I've managed to notice it. Basically, it will rev up and down erratically as OD engages and disengages. With OD off, revs are constant, but this is not going to be very flash for economy. By occasionally, I mean this has mostly only happened once in a blue moon, not a daily or even weekly occurrence. Any ideas? Its in for service soon, will have all new fluids for the box, attessa units etc and all systems bled and suchlike, I'm hoping that may sort it. I'm also wondering whether a low-speed, light throttle stalling issue (again, intermittent) it has may be related, as its almost like its staying in OD lockup even at carpark speeds when theres light/no throttle opening.
  15. Another testimony for these, we got some into the bike shop (Appleby's) and even on mountainbikes, on rough terrain, the vision is quite clear and overall good quality. Top bit of gear.
  16. Fair enough. Just trying to help. Good choice on the Tamiya one. My gripes with the kerbside fujimi and aoshima ones aren't just about the lack of detail, its also in deformed proportions and such they have. I buy from HLJ or hobbyworld because I've had nothing but grief from shady Hong Kong ebay sellers. Yeah, $10 buy it now...$50 to ship it...In a brown paper bag with tape over the end, and labelled as a gift to avoid duties... Bought 3 kits from Honkers, 2 have been crushed, one irretrievably, got sodomised on shipping costs each time, took weeks to ship each time...Never, ever again. In contrast I've had 20+ kits ex-Japan with no problems.
  17. Forget ebay. http://www.hlj.com is what you need. The Tamiya KPGC10 kit is by far the best. It has full engine and chassis detail ; aoshima and fujimi kits are kerbside (no engine detail, rudimentary chassis), and the interior and exterior detail is also primitive. However, of course its easier to get those (aoshima, fujimi kits) in the racing versions. There is a ~$75 transkit to turn the tamiya kit into a race version... Searching KPGC10 on HLJ.com gets you... http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=-2&fr...chpage=top_page The Hakosuka kit I'm working on which is posted further up this page is the Tamiya GT-R kit; although the flares, chin spoiler are custom, wheels/tyres by Aoshima, and the engine and oil cooler from Fujimi kits.
  18. If you're sick of the GT-R breaking and costing money, you're barking up the wrong tree with vintage Skylines.
  19. Just Cars , and now Shannons, are AAMI. Same people, same offices, your correspondence has a different letterhead and thats about it.
  20. Just noticed Aoshima are doing a reasonably limited run of 'export version' C110 240K GT model kits. Correct decals, grille, lights, photoetch bits etc for the export cars I gather. 2 Door - http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS04324 4 Door - http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS04325 Pretty neat and somewhat unprecedented release!
  21. FWIW, my R31 sedan (aussie delivered, GX trim, 5 speed, with 30l of fuel) was 1280kg on a weighbridge, my HR31 GTS coupe with the same fuel load, same weighbridge is 1440kg!
  22. Any experience with Nistune?
  23. Looks good Ryley. Where are those pics, Devil's Kitchen?
  24. So, what insurers can we consult who are not AAMI affiliates? JustCars can blow me for that very reason, as can Shannons now they're allied to those pricks. I need to insure my car soon, I'm 26 years old, HR31 Skyline GTS; and my missus needs to insure hers, but thats a whole other kettle of fish, being its both a Stagea AND she is currently on her L's, P's later in the year (she's 26, late starter, I'm not some cradle snatcher!). I've had bad experience from both sides with AAMI and their stooge companies, so I want an insurer for both that has NOTHING to do with AAMI or the parent group.
  25. Are we going to have a thread every time someone runs out of talent and bins one? Honestly theres going to be eleventybillion of the darn things and they'll be getting wiped out pretty regularly.
