  1. +1 for having the balls to chop up a perfectly good bonnet you realise that vent isnt drawing any air in, right? its just flat, and all the air will flow right over it. so the only real benefit is that some hot air might escape through it. but then being where it is, and such a small area, i doubt it.
  2. yeah i realise that all i want to achieve is to have the ambient temp displayed, using the front temp sensor, if its simple enough. doesnt really have anything to do with climate control.
  3. I know there's a temp sensor behind the front bar on the R33. I think it sends the ambient outside temp to the climate control ??? Is there some way to grab that reading, and have it displayed? Even if it's on a 3rd party display. I think the 32gtr (and possibly others) shows the outside temp as a standard feature.
  4. i think i see a boost sensor in the background
  5. in true ACA fashion, that test was pathetic and proved nothing but how their topics are chosen on the basis of how interesting the ad will sound. the test was done on standard unleaded for starters. the difference in mileage could easily be attributed to the car on the day. we all know that no two cars are exactly the same, even if theyre the same model. the difference between best and worse was soemthing like 8%. but then they decided to run 2 of the cars (why only 2?) on premium on the run back (BP and i think Mobile?). the difference there over the standard unleaded was 7%. lol. so the test was basically a waste of time and told us nothing about anything.
  6. take it out and stick in the farker's eye. and whoever reckons "mistakes happen, they were busy and forgot, no harm damn, bullshit etc". you're paying these idiots good money to look after your car. not the bloke's car next to yours. so if they cant keep their eye on the prize till the jobs done, then they obviously dont value your business enough.
  7. i dont think he's a cop, is he? are you ?
  8. i doubt thats a cat welded in. its probably a resonator ( a small high flowing muffler for noise/drone reduction). the flange to the left of the resonator is where the cat bolts up to
  9. just use that exhaust gasket goo stuff. it's only about $10 a tube. put it on the flanges and use a gasket as you did, and hopefully it will seal. if it doesnt, you'll need to find which face is warped and get it machined flat. well not even really machined.... you could prob do it yourself with a grinder and a steady hand.
  10. thank you joey joe joe
  11. ive got a related question. at idle (warm) my boost gauge shows the normal ~20 vac (psi gauge). on cold start when rpm is around 1100 it used to show less vac, like 15 or something, till the revs dropped, but now it sits on 20vac at cold start. not sure which of these is normal. the factory gauge shows similar figures. if i rev it at cold start, the gauge moves up accordingly. all other readings while warm etc seem fine. cold start and idle are spot on. no idle hunting, etc. which one of these readings do you guys get at cold start? 20 vac, as when warm? or higher. eg 15 vac?
  12. when i was using an xforce cat, my sensor didnt fit either. it couldnt go in far enough coz the deeper part of the hole was too narrow. i just drilled the hole through, and screwed it in. i wouldnt drive it with the sensor half in if i was you, coz if it does fall out, you're gonna have an exhaust leak through that hole. if u get really stuck, just block it up with a nut and leave the sensor out all together for now. it makes no difference anyway.
  13. http://www.pbase.com/melalicous/image/34444144 try that one. its a very average pic anyway
  14. HEY RETARD.....we didnt bagg out the starlets in the first place !!! get off your f**king high horse idiot.
  15. or hit that time of the month again
  16. lol STARLETSAUSTRALIA i drove a borrowed starlet around tassie for 10 days. i even helped the owner do an oil change, and i still dont know what the hell motor was in it.
  17. this one? http://k53.pbase.com/u36/melalicous/upload...4144.JMSR33.bmp
  18. i just filled up with BP ultimate. every pump was working, and price was 1.45.? which is pretty cheap. also drove past another BP and they had ultimate too. so whats all the fuss?
  19. replace the weird nissan ring-clamp holding the hose to the base of the resevoir and see how you go. that hose was always wet on mine. swapped it with a normal ring clamp, and its fine now.
  20. i've always assumed they were, but better to hear it from someone who owns one.
  21. nice write up man. the car sounds awesome and points to you for bravery. it takes some guts to be so open about your gheyness on a forum like this
  22. i'd lean towards saber rather than autogauge. autogauge have a poor rep with some of their other gauges, and as mentioned, even with the stepper version, its luck of the draw. so it doesnt say much for their quality control / standards. theres no point having a pretty gauge if its not accurate.
  23. my driveway is a bitch too. i can only enter/exit on one specific angle. it took me about 5 goes to find it when i first got the car. your best bet is to come onto the driveway as side on as you can as if you're parking horizontally to the kerb. then hook it so your tyre gets onto the driveway before the rest of the car follows.
  24. ive often wondered. what does it look like when u get that rubbery coating off and are just left with the black plastic thats under it? does it look decent, or pretty bad?
