ummm....isnt magnatec synthetic? edit: maybe its castrol edge thats in there now. all i remember was it's a castrol synthetic oil. anwyays, so nissan genuine, not so hot?

My mechanic wants to use the genuine nissan motor oil. i thinks it 7.5w I'm not sure about the quality, and how suitable it is for a 110,000km motor. Currently i'm using castrol (edit:) edge 10w. Gimme some opinions please. Thanks

Fair enough. In my case it was caused by over tensioning.

thats a load of shit. i had a gates (blue) belt put on. it was noisy, i took it back the the retard who fitted it and told him to re-tension it. problem solved. never took my car to him again. belt has never made a sound since.

Went in with 170.2rwkw@10psi, left with 182.2rwkw@10psi (3" exhaust + pod + r34smic. everything else is standard). There wasnt even that much room to move, coz the unichip had already been tuned obviously by the previous owner, or whoever. So he played with the afr's a bit, and also scrapped the existing timing, and started from scratch. We did about 12 odd runs, till he was happy. He discovered i had a boost controller module on the unichip, so we replaced my mbc with the standard solenoid, and he set that up too. But we were still running 10psi, from first to last run, so the gains arent from extra boost. I actually forgot that you had recommended against them. Only just read that bit again now. I ran into them by accident when getting my mate's 6litre SS chipped. I spoke to the tuner, Con, and apparently he has a shit load of experience with unichips. They were one of the largest unichip agents, back in the day. Anyway, i'm happy with it.

SUPER BUMP Just wanted to update this thread. If anyone else was looking at getting a Unichip tuned in Sydney, try C&V Performance at Caringbah. http://www.cvperformance.com.au/ They did a great job on mine, at a fraction of the costs mentioned above. These guys definately know their shit. They can tune anything for you. ANYTHING. I'm impressed with their work.

the trims? u mean the horn cover? if its the 3 spoke, the horn cover just pulls off. then loosen the main nut, and pull the wheel off. its a bitch but it will come off.

apexi - hks - greddy will cost the most. a bit too much if you ask me. autometer gauges have a good rep. $100 off ebay? i use a splitfire gauge and i'm happy with it. rrp under $100. avoid autogauge and other cheap chinese crap. you'll doubt their accuracy anwyay, defeats the purpose

all you need is a decent boost gauge. dont trust the stock one. and theres nothing wrong with the turbotech boost controller. mine showed flat 10psi on the dyno. as good as any electronic one.

plus that's the price you would have paid for one in tokyo in $AU. not in australia. i would think a new nissan murano (for example) costs more here in $AU than the same model in japan. see what i'm saying? edit: what ^^ he ^^ said
