  1. great !!! well i wont waste anymore time looking at that gauge
  2. hmmmmm...after careful consideration, i've come to the conclusion that i farken hate it !!!
  3. engine temp wasnt an issue, according to the stock engine temp gauge. more to do with the heat affecting intake temps methinks. re: bov. i have a full plumb back gfb. gives me no probs.
  4. and there you have it. the loose morals of western men
  5. no ctjet, i wouldnt abuse my car. the heat was abusive, especially in god forsaken western sydney, where i was forced to go, but really really didnt want to.
  6. k, well i feel a bit better now, knowing you're all suffering with me so you reckon the cold start problems might have been related to the heat. maybe from the previous day's heat abuse or something?
  7. lol great, take one skyline, some extreme heat, mix together vigorously, and you get one corolla. what about the stalling? my car always starts first go, i barely have to look at the key and it's rumbling nicely. but the last time (sat), i was cranking it over forever, and on the 4th attempt it started.
  8. This recent sydney heat has had an impact on the smooth/responsive feel of my car. Obviously 9psi boost has turned into more like 7 or 8 due to the heat, which i expected. I'm using the stock intercooler (R33 - 3inch full exhaust - pod - turbotech set at 9psi) The car has stalled on cold start 3 times on the 3 recent hot days, and the idle was playing up a bit while driving, dropping way too low (will look into cleaning aac valve soon). Also, the car seemed alot less responsive, less willing to pick up on demand, kind of running rougher. Never had any of these issues before the heat. Since it's cooled down again, everything seems fine. My question: Is all this related to the hot weather? If so, will a fmic fix this?
  9. no way. shop around a bit more. if you're taking your car to a panel shop for repairs, those guys know how to remove windows etc. if they break it, they replace it. never heard of them not taking resposibility for their work.

    It's A Boy!

and so you should be congratulations man.
  11. ok, either i'm a tightass and unaware of the cost of tuning an existing unichip, or that's alot. my unichip is also an older type, been in the car at least two years. boost control is not confirmed yet. there's also another small box connected, non descript, has no name, label, or markings, but has a harness that looks like its running to the ecu. anyway, looks like i better start shopping around. might consider an fmic before the tune. this recent heat has had an impact on the usually smooth and responsive feel of the car. (edit: car has stalled on starting 3 times in the last 3 days (previously always started perfectly) and the idle was playing up a bit while driving. is this related to the current hot weather?) besides 3 inch turbo back exhaust and pod, the car is stock (running 9psi which isnt a stretch since it was running that on stock boost). why do u say i'll need a fuel pump?
  12. so what did the tune cost you with Jim?
  13. I'll back that up. I used these guys for my alarm. Leon is the guy that did mine. He's quick, and can do whatever you ask. edit: and lets not forget well priced. very happy with his work.
  14. no. as long as they dont change your timing in the process, which they wont, and shouldnt.
  15. dunno dude. that's what i was told. but i'm still not sure if it's the case with my unichip. i'm guessing the stock solenoid gets the signal from the ecu to run a certain psi. i mean we know it can work for 5 and 7 psi. why not higher?
  16. what type of tyres have you got? sometimes its the tyres. weak sidewall tyres like nankangs can give you the shakes at high speeds. a guy i know put these on the rear of his xr6 ute and it was wobbling all over the fwy. he took them off the next day, problem solved. and that was on the rear.
  17. was hunting for a 300zx. drove like 10 of them. then one day at a dealership i took an R33 for a drive. ummmm enough said. the choice was easy. hey !!!! My cuzin tony has one ?????
  18. no other solenoid besides the stock one. there's no vacuum hose going to the unit. yesterday the tuner that looked at it told me these are capable of controlling boost thru the ecu, if it's been wired up that way. so i dont actually know if it has been. there's an extra box connected to the unichip aswell, not sure what that ones for. he suggested possibly fuel cut defender type of thing. just guessing at this stage. when i track down a reasonably priced tuner for unichip, all will be revealed. edit: the turbotech seems to be doing its job, so i dont think there will be any issues with clashing interest between the ecu and the bc. whatcha think ?
  19. did he tune a unichip for you? any idea of price?
  20. yep scarface
  21. are you referring to unigroup? you're not gonna tell us what they said, are you? central coast is too far. i just got back from penrith (hitman) in this stinking heat, that was far enough. lol. unfortunately he doesnt do unichip.
  22. look here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=2574594
  23. bad boys 2 "Why don't you try stickin' jou head up jour ass -- see if it fits" so easy.
  24. thanks Abo Bob (still cant believe you're neither of those things ). i will contact them. do you recommend these guys from experience? also, i was told these units arent too bad, and definately a step up from safc. has anyone had any experience with a unichip?
  25. hey mad082, do you remember a while ago i did the 'high boost on stock solenoid' mod and my boost went infinite? couldnt work out what happened. well today i found a unichip piggybacked to my ecu that i didnt know was there. lol. now from what i understand, the unichip intercepts afr's, timing, and possibly boost, thru the ecu. so i guess this may have been why it freaked out. i might remove this BC when i find a tuner for the unichip, and set the boost thru the ecu, if it's possible. but it shouldnt hurt anything having it there for now, yeah?
