  1. engine came to a grinding hault last night literally had to tow the poor girl home, so i pulled it out and pulled the engine apart this arvo was wondering if anyone new what the crank code 05u stamped on the counterweight is...... the engine is an rb25 which was fresh from japan when bought over and fitted to the s13 i have allready found hks cams in it and forges were found when i pulled the engine down, a quick search on the net points towards gtr crank but i cant find anything conclusive, does that code mean its a rb26 crank or am i dreaming. thanks all
  2. is there anyone that knows exactly what has to be done to make it work
  3. is it possible to run a series 1 rb25det on a r32 ecu i only ask because the 25 is in a s13 and is allready not using the few things like the speed dependant power steering and the vct has been removed from the engine there is also a few other bits and pieces that were removed. in short is it possible as i would like the option of a cheap remappable ecu
  4. yeah im all to familar with the reset procedure did it basically every time i went out driving with the auto ecu, the manual one has made a huge diference for my rb
  5. i bought the car with the onversion allready done. and yes the car did run ok with the auto ecu but the manual one is an improvement 100% just general driving it was a lot smoother and more responsive. something for you to try arkon is next time you do a conversion use the auto ecu first then slap a manual one in see if you notice any difference between the two, well it worked for me so im happy i can tune the safc now .
  6. put in a manual ecu this afternoon runs heaps better no more dying in the arse totally at about 4500 5000 rpm only getting alittle rich and retard due to the higher boost level (time to tune the SAFC i think) for all those out there who buy a auto engine and loom for a conversion if you put a manual behind it go get a manual ecu in my case the conversion in my s13 was done by someone else and they used the auto ecu and put a manual behind. so in short you can use a auto ecu without an auto but it doesnt run properly.
  7. i have an safc just havent got it tuned yet i would like to get everything right before i put it on the dyno
  8. im looking for a series 1 rb25det MANUAL ECU must be a manual ecu please, preferably in brisbane
  9. thanks mate might explain the big hole i fall in at about 4500 might try get my hands on a stock manual ecu
  10. can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the auto and a manual standard ecu for an rb2det i know that series one and two are different due to the igniter coil but the main reason im asking is that i have an auto series one ecu running in my s13 rb25 which runs a manual now, will this be causing any dramas that i havent come across yet. Do they come with different maps? or anything along those lines.
  11. please put me down for: 1 X EBC 1 X Hand Controller 1 X Connecting Cable thankyou
  12. pretty easy job if you alittle mechanically minded only thing id suggest is crc or wd40 the bolts before undoing them you dont want a snapped stud and also when refitting the banjo bolts for the lines besure you dont cross thread them on the way in, took me alittle over an hour to have mine off and back on
  13. well the standard solenoid went on tonight went for a drive and well im just as suprised as everyone else will be it holds 7psi to 4500rpm clicks over and then only spikes to about 11psi then settles at about ten pound i still hit a small amout of rich and retard along the way i think due to the cams but still held ten all the way to 6500 rpm in third at full throttle. 2nd gear is abit more harsher and hits rich and retard with a spike of about 12 or 13 psi but keep in mind, i am running the stock dump pipe again, no spliter no bellmouth just the stocka i have the BATMBL on its way so hopefully it should clean up the rest of the small spike but either way it doesnt continually creep up like it used to
  14. sound is very much like lifters especially if its gone now it would point to lifters, would of most likely been a lifter that had not pump uped properly change your oil and filter and check the oil that comes out for any sludge or chuncky bits which may be getting caught in your lifters. little tip get your oil nice and warm before you drop it dont bother doing it cold, take your car for a good drive first.
  15. will most likely be the rocker cover gaskets at the back leaking and dripping down. best way to go about things to be sure is clean it all down with degreaser and and then check it daily to find the fresh leak then you will be able to tell were exactly its coming from.
  16. dont get one off ebay they are crap and will crack and fall apart and are just plan shit.
  17. i am after the standard boost solnoid and all other little fiddly bits that go with it preferably in brisbane please
  18. very interesting jazza i may have to get my hands on a standard solenoid i dont have one as the motor is in an s13 now, not sure on the the RWKWs it puts out havent gotten the SAFC tuned and dynoed yet but with the mods i have (see first post) i wouldnt be expecting much over 200 if that, oh yeah and i do have a FMIC too
  19. cameron are you running cams in your engine
  20. after cuttiing up my ebay pipe i cant see how it was flowing at all. the wastegate pipe was so restrictive were it plumbed back in it had a huge ridge for the gas to hit very poor quality all round dont buy them people they are 100% shit
  21. pulled that old dump pipe off tonight was going to chop and weld a bigger wastegate pipe on that was until i noticed the big crack forming around the wastegate pipe weld, i reckon i had about a week left before it blew itself off. moral of the story dont buy any hks copy dump pipes off ebay. i could still use it with some fresh welding and new pipe but the BATMBL is on its way . will see how that goes.
  22. you may be having the same problem as myself. i started a thread about 2 days ago under the title "boost creep" some may be related to your issue so have a read
  23. yeah sonunds like the most logical answer to me, wish me luck, ill go get a decent dump pipe.
  24. dont say that i was thinking a bigger dump pipe might fix it, im thiinking about putting on an external wastegate, if i cant get the gas i need out an external gate im pretty sure im stuffed.
  25. yep thats the one not xs power but looks like it, looking into getting a batmbl dump or ces if not the chop and weld might be on the cards
