  1. ok i now have a R34 SMIC & a turbotech boost control set at 9psi...what you guys think i will run now since i did a 14.3 bog stock?
  2. As the title/subject say whats a 'safe' boost to run on a R33 with a R34 SMIC but std dump/exhaust? As of last night it is currently at 9psi using turbotech Cheers Noel
  3. fitted turbotech last night...feels like a new car!!! First pulled it apart & put flat side of spring to ball bearing...then wound it in til screw just put pressure on spring...on car this was 6psi holding all the way to redline wound it in a bit more til i got to just on 9psi & it stays there but bleeds to either 8psi or just under in higher revs depending on which gear...does not spike at all except if say i knock it back to 2nd it jumps a touch but nothing crazy one question why does the boost bleed off a touch in higher revs? (FYI i have left restrictor in original line)
  4. Received, seems Australia Post magically found it, & it showed up at reception once we enquried about it. All good its here now so now i can go and play ;-) Also my turbotech does not have a little pin hole in it...in the original thread for these i saw a few others also had no hole & one was even told its the new design...is this a problem or is it all good? Cheers Noel
  5. Its been sent but Aust Post dont know where it is...Mark is chasing it up with them
  6. Ok installed gauge on weekend...I put it where the ashtray is supposed to be...Just took it out, cut a bit of mdf to fit then cut out hole in middle for gauge, stuck some grey carpet that i had lying around on, put gauge in mdf, it hooked it all up then pushed mdf into space & presto i now have a boost gauge in a legal spot...will post pics when i take some. Only drama i had was a tiny one where T-peice did not fit original vacuum hose to inlet but i replaced this with left over 4mm hose that i had used instead of the clear nylon tubing that comes with gauge & was all good
  7. Got a Speco boost gauge but dont want to use clear tubing provided plus need more Will be tapping into vacuum line where stock gauge reads from...do i need 4mm or 6mm? Cheers
  8. seems like a good idea...how do you attach to pump?
  9. Not sure...will let you know how install goes...hopefully tonight after oz tag if its not raining that is
  10. quick question regarding install comes with a long length of clear tubing which you attach to rear of gauge then run into engine bay, then there is a short lenth of a larger size tube which you attach to t peice from vacuum line...should i just use the smaller sized tubing all the way or buy some more tubing the same size as t-peice & run that all the way into cabin then use a tiny amount of the clear tubing just to attach to rear of gauge? Thanks Noel
  11. I have not installed it yet (im at work) but If you mean right now whilst its in the box? yes its on zero
  12. ordered this tuesday http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...32&hl=speco received this morning...very fast service
  13. Legend! that's exactly the information i was after...I might take it out then as i dont want to run much more than 7psi since i have stock dump & exhaust & I heard that the minimum boost with a turbotech is around 8-9psi but i am guessing thats with the restictor still in place. Cheers Noel
  14. so u left restrictor in place? what boost you running & how does it hold in re to creep/spiking/tailing off in higher rpms? cheers
  15. i heard if you take it out spool up will be a bit slower as wastegate creep increases...makes sense in re to std form via solanoid bleed but using turbotech should not affect this as it will be restricting flow itself thus decreasing creep just as brass restictor does correct?
  16. Ok I have a bob stock R33 GTS-T (only mod being recently installed R34 SMIC) I have a turbotech boost control & a boost gauge on its way to me in the mail & will be installing asap Since car is basically stock i only want to run the std boost level (7psi) but all the time instead of the 5/7psi via the solanoid (which i will bypass completely) Anyway i know there is a brass restrictor in the line from IC piping to t-peice My question is should i leave this in or take it out? as turbotech is a kind of a restrictor itself I have heard to get std boost using a turbotech you need to have screw wound right out & it is JUST hanging on so with restrictor out wouldn't it mean i would be able to screw Turbotech in a bit more thus being a bit more secure & stable & accurate? Also re boost gauge...Is it simply a matter of putting a t-peice in the top vacuum line coming from that little black box on firewall on drivers side & bobs your uncle? Cheers Noel
  17. Just bought one of these http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...32&hl=gauge so happy i held off from ebay hehe
