but look at the 294nm of torque @ 4800rpm in R33 compared to 380nm @ 3000rpm in MPS...not that i would choose one over my R33 but its quite impressive

Stock as they come...Only thing i have done is put a MP3 Player, Sub & Amp hehe Tyres are Bridgestone Potenzas r16 205/55 i think about 50% tread Oh...i did let tyres down to about 22psi (from 33psi) also

What do you guys find is the best launch technique? I found that lower revs (2000-2500rpm) dumping it with a bit of axle tramp/hop & bog was better than higher revs (3000+rpm) slipping the clutch or just dumping with a little bit of wheelspin controlled by throttle

oh & also without air filter panel felt alot more throttle response but also noticed it blew a bit of black smoke when i backed off ie running a bit rich...when i put panel back in still blew a tiny bit of smoke but barley as much? why is that?

Well here is the story...I have a bog stock R33 S2 GTS-T Manual *4Door Sedan* Anyway my mate has a R33 S1 Coupe running 14psi, front mount, full exhaust with a split dump & was going to run his so i thought i would go watch...anyway i never planned on racing as i finished work late but he called me & said there was not much people so i took my helmet & rego just in case...when i got there was was not many cars lining up to register so i thought what the heck. Correct me if i am wrong but specs for a R33 Coupe say 14.7 for a stocker down the qtr so i was thinking since mine is an odd 40kg heavier being a sedan plus i had a full tank of ultimate which i filled night before plus i have a sub in my boot etc that i would run a low 15 or at best a really late 14 First pass was a bit nervous & stuffed up & it bogged down a bit after initial axle tramp but to my suprise i got a 14.6 with a 2.2 60ft & 95mph...i was like what tha f-ck? thats awesome 14.6.PDF Next pass i took my air filter panel out of box to see if it went better. Again off start i bogged down again but only just & it squatted nicely off the line but missed my change from 3rd to 4th & hit limiter for a second or two & was amazed to pull a 14.3 with a 2.0 60ft & 96mph 14.3.PDF 3rd pass gave a bit too much off the line & spun & only did a 14.5 with a 2.3 60ft at 96pmh 14.5.PDF Last pass totally stuffed it...bogged on take off & then went from 2nd into 5th so did a 16.1 hehe with a 2.3 60ft 16.1.PDF Anyway i was totally surprised & I reckon on a colder night with newer tyres less fuel & sub etc out i could pull very close to a 14.1 What do you guys think & what have other stockies run before?

Last night at runs brand new MPS 6 straight from showroom did a 14.2

well suprisingly no...not even when Dick was driving it....they have put alot of effort & technology behind this to make it as good as possible with a FWD setup

Enquired about MPS 6 way before it came out then when 3 came out they sent me some brochures etc & there was this code & a link to site which was a car game where you had to race around track & they log your time & did not think anything of it then yea then a few weeks ago i recieved an email telling me i had won this & to choose a session...there were loads of people (were 3 sessions x 2 days) so guessing they chose top 50 or so times...not sure

i have a stock r33 manual & i reckon it would leave me for dead off the line although i would still rather my car ;-)

Makes sense as it AWD but we did not get to do a take off really as we would start in pits so all i can say is that driving in general the 3 felt quicker & more responsive than the 6

yea Sydneykid they explained all that about how it cuts throttle etc but it does def work especially around the track...good thing tho is that you can take it off so then you would have 190kw all the time & could wheelspin all you wanted

I was lucky enough to win a day at Oran park & got to test Drive the new Mazda Turbo range around the track including the MPS 3, MPS 6, RX8, & new MX5...then get taken by Dick Johnson in MPS 3 for a hot lap First drove RX8...interior is awesome & handles beautifully but was disaappointed with the performance...i know its a rotary & you need to rev them but it feels like the diff gears are for the highway Next i drove the MPS 6...Loved the throttle response & felt quicker than the RX8 & def handles well but not sure if i like the AWD feeling (used to Rear) & also found the gearstick positioning awkward as i felt like i had to reach forward & down to grab lever Next was the MPS 3...first i will say i thought this much power in a front wheel drive was crazy & that it would just wheelspin & understeer...I WAS WRONG!!! This thing is nuts...as soon as you touch the pedal its throwing you back in your seat...although you can get it wheelspin it barely understeers & shat all over the RX8, MPS 6 AWD in handling & performance...This thing hits peak 380nm torque at 3000rpm & pulls all the way til redline then launches hard into the next gear. This car although nowhere near the quickest is prob one of the most fun cars i have ever driven...you could drive it out the showroom straight to the track no problems whatsoever!!! I then got taken by Dick in MPS 3 for a hot lap...let me tell you when you are out there you think you are tha sh it & a good driver til you hop in with someone like Dick...its nuts...i loved every second of it as i was getting thrown left to right as he hammered this mazda around the track & this car def is a little rocket & i got to see its full potential this time around next i drove the new MX5 which is quite diff to the 92 1.6L & 98 1.8L which i have driven...actually feels like it as some go but more a sports cruiser than anything Overall was an awesome day & id say MPS 6 is good for a sports family, MX5 as i have said above, RX8 good for posing & the occasional straight line squirt & MPS 3 is just awesome all round although would not like to drive it in the wet with stability control off Anyway look forward to others comments but this car is def the best FWD car i have ever driven & a def if your after a hot hatch in my opnion

I have manual a r33 GTS-T Stock as a rock & on average i get about 400km out of say 50L (65L tank)...seems to use about a qtr per 100-130km depending how you drive

can i bolt up a 3" high flow cat straight up to a std 2.25" exhaust or not possible?
