Hi, My R34 GTT has been making a terrible whining noise which is louder when cold. It also sounds worse when turning the steering so I thought it must be the power steering pump. I checked the fluid and its at the right mark and there is plenty of fluid. Just dropped the car into my mechanic and he confirmed that its definitely the power steering pump making all the noise. He said it sounds like there is no fluid in there but there is?!? He wants to get it rebuilt for $340 as he was quoted $900 for a genuine nissan one from Japan and 10 days delivery time ouch! Anyone have any experience with these? Please help

Damn this thread is old but I just read it all so I am going say my 2c. One of the main reasons upping the fuel pressure is dangerous with standard injectors is that the fuel pump is put under more stress. If you have a look at the fuel flow of fuel pumps as the pressure increases the fuel pump flow decreases. If you are going to up the pressure on standard injectors I would keep it a moderate increase and make sure you have a good fuel pump.

Tuning Around Stock Gtr Afms/injector Limits

Yeah I have one from my R34 RB25 Neo, not sure if its any different?? -
The standard bov is a recirculating bov which means it is allowing some air out even off boost. In that way it is different to all aftermarket bovs. This means that the tune will have to cover this up. My tuner recommended keeping the factory bov as he said its easier to tune and normally ends up with a much nicer result.

Big Hp Intercooler Options? Overkill For 400Kw?

This sounds familiar, did I meet you at Status last wed? -
Listen to this!! +1

When you guys say direct fit you still have to modify the wiring loom for different connectors right?

Big Hp Intercooler Options? Overkill For 400Kw?

Was this under load? If not, it doesnt mean much. Without load the cat would have to be very blocked for it show up as a restriction. There was another thread about a car that was tested by free revving to have less than 1psi to redline and the cat still ended up being a restriction (ie more than 20-30rwkw). -
Thanks guys sorry I found out that they require new brackets and custom piping so would be easier to fit a blitz kit to my R34 GTT. Please close.

See below: Z32 AFM - Not required and will give no benefit until you go a larger turbo Sard 650cc Injectors - Not required and will give no benefit until you go a larger turbo Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump - Good insurance but wont affect the tune. X-Force 3" High Flow Cat - Really should have fitted this before getting it tuned JJR Bellmouth 3" Dump Pipe - Really should have fitted this before getting it tuned I understand your new to this stuff but spend some time reading. Look at the dyno results thread, there is 30 pages of results! You will start to see patterns of what mods are required for what power level. This thread is a must read: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/282082-nissan-skyline-r34-gtt-modificationtuning-guide/ If you put in some time and then ask questions, people will be a lot more happy to help you out.

Thanks for the info!

It is just running off the actuator, but the boost pressure before the intercooler looks perfect flat ~21-20psi. The drop down to 20psi after 6,000rpm is even there on Tao's car. Thats just the turbo running out of puff. The issue is the intercooler pressure drop as you can see I can only get just over 15psi into the engine. The previous turbo had exactly the same behaviour, I could not get more than ~15psi into the engine no matter how much I cranked the boost up even with a large 0.82 housing! I tried EBC's and they did nothing. Trent my tuner said he reckons even if you unplugged the hose from the actuator you wouldnt get anymore boost up top (previous turbo). I run a 3" fujitsubo catback exhaust which is very quiet, on my previous turbo it was restricting power ~5-8kw but to me its worth it so I dont get any unwanted police attention.

Hi guys, I am chasing a GTR intercooler in great condition thanks. Jeff 0400648813

Its a Trust Turnflow intercooler, although I bought it second hand so I dont know how old it is. It seems to be cooling quite well when you touch the end tanks, just seems to have a lot of pressure drop. Hoping to replace it with a blitz return flow one day.

All I did was have 1 fitting installed on the intercooler hot pipe if you dont already have one, then had a dyno run with the boost signal coming from the hot pipe. Then Trent plotted both the plenum boost and the hot pipe boost and you can see how the difference gets wider as rpm increases. Therefore, I would get a good result out of a better intercooler with less pressure drop (ignore the std turbo graph). -
Just had an ATR43SS-1 tuned last night by Trent at Status Tuning. Goal was a super responsive turbo that made ~250rwkw on 98 fuel, then ~280rwkw on E85. I only have the 98 tune so far, as you can see its very close to my goal with 244rwkw. The turbo is very very responsive, I thought as a comparison I would get a standard turbo comparison. I also had the boost plotted before and after the intercooler, as you can see my intercooler is quite restrictive and the gap in pressure increases with rpm. If I can get it to hold 18-19psi, I am sure I can get well into the 250's and maybe crack 260rwkw as Tao did. It has made street driving an absolute blast and it is 100% a street car.

Metal is better as it will last longer under high heat conditions etc. Less cells the better for flow, so 100 cell is better than 200.

Big Hp Intercooler Options? Overkill For 400Kw?

If your prepared to remove the intercooler and drop it in to a shop why cant you remove two sections of the intercooler piping and get some fittings welded on by a shop?? That would be easier for you surely! -

Geeze your really asking for another Ash spray arent you What I did was get a fitting welded to the hot intercooler pipe, then hook up a vacuum hose and a boost guage. Then you can compare before and after the intercooler. I understand you can also get pressure difference testers that have 2 inputs, although I havent seen one of those and not sure how to get them. -
Exactly, I wouldnt be giving it full throttle even with a lower pressure actuator! Use your right foot and keep it off boost.

My tune got delayed till wed so I will go fill up tonight instead.
