Stopped By Cops - Requested For Epa Compliance
Harey replied to ihtasham's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The rules vary significantly depending on which state you are in. I know QLD is quite leanient in comparison. NSW requires you to get a free IM240 emissions test and then an engineers certificate. VIC requires you to get a full ADR37/00 or 01 emissions test which costs ~$2k each time even if you fail then an engineers certificate, plus there are only 1 or 2 places that do it (VIPAC is the main one). -
its an rb25det

Yeah but the PU high flow has a lot more lag and when it hits is a lot more sudden then a SS1PU turbo. It does have the stock appearance from the front of the turbo but the street performance will be heaps better with an SS1PU. The PU high flow has a large 0.82 rear. 280rwkw sounds like a lot on 98 fuel with a high comp standard engine?? I would limit it to around 250-260rwkw on 98 fuel and then with E85 you have the extra protection from the high compression to push it further.
-
Sorry mate might have been a bit harsh. To avoid wheelspin then you actually want a smaller turbo like an SS1.5 which comes on really linear and smooth. I have 265 wide semi slick tyres and cant spin them with full throttle in 2nd gear (E85 and 280rwkw). Whereas I had a larger ATR43G3 turbo before and that made the same power ~280rwkw but that would wheelspin in 2nd because it was lag and then a sudden hit. You do want to make sure you dont choke the engine with a tiny turbo/housing but the SS1.5 wont and you will only need very low boost to make 250rwkw.
-
Mine starts identical on both E85 and 98 whether cold or hot. Although Trent from Status has tuned a heap of cars on E85 so has had a lot of experience with it. But the point is its definitely possible. My mum borrows my car and hasnt mentioned a thing lol
-
From results on Stao's car they both had similar response except the SS1.5PU goes on to make 15-20rwkw on less boost. So the answer to me is the SS1.5PU in every way. Pity I bought the SS1 before it came out lol.

Ah yes i see haha. A mate and I used to own turbo commy V6s (yes flame on lol) and he had a stock ecotec with 9.2 compression and a GT3076 0.82 turbo. Car was fantastic made between 250-280rwkw depending on tunes and was super responsive. Then he blew that engine and had a forged one built with 8.0 compression as per the advice of the guy building it. I said thats stupid but he trusted other guy more than me . Car lost a lot of response and struggled to make 250rwkw with the turbo running hard. I told him that he needed a GT35 and lots of boost to get the low compression engine in its element but he didnt want to loose more response. He ended up getting over it and selling it. The higher the compression you can safely run to make your power level taking fuel into consideration is what I reckon is the best, especially for a street car. Then I read about people putting turbos on stock M3 engines that are 11.5 compression with E85 with crazy results.

LOLZ how did you come up with that turbo?? That turbo would have full boost a fair bit over 5000rpm. Why not run a GT45 turbo on 0.2psi... As birds said, you want something much much smaller. Either a highflow or an SS1.5PU would be my choices.
-
Will you be running E85 with 10:1 compression? Off boost would drive a lot nicer too with the higher compression.
-
Was it super responsive with the high compression ratio of 9.5?
-
Any change of a bigger dyno? cant see anything If you attach the full size it will shrink it down for normal view then you can click on it to see the full image.
-
Apologies I thought you were unaware of the rb34 kit and had just noticed the rb32 kit. Why would you choose the rb32 over the rb34? Cheaper? Rev higher?
-
But pretty sure the ACL pistons are not forged.
-
Pity they are only 8.5 compression, I would be interested in 9-9.5. My car only runs E85 so I would look at ~9.5.

Is Anyone Running Deutschwerks Injectors?
Harey replied to Hadouken's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nismo only make 480cc injectors for the neo engine. Yes you can fit other EV14 injectors but you need to do wiring modifications etc. My tuner would only fit drop in injectors that require no mods. So then I would have had to fit them myself then get the car towed there (1 hour drive) so it could be tuned. For someone that wants a large drop in injector they seem to do the job well. -

I have the 800cc ones for my neo rb25 engine. No issues so far, running 280rwkw on E85. -
I see your RB32 and I raise you an RB34: http://spool.directfusion.com.au/spool-stroker-kits/spool-nissan-rb30-stroker-crank-kit

Another Jeff with an R34 GTT with Hypergear turbo haha A quality tune is absolutely essential!! I drive for an hour to get to Trent at Status.
-
Exactly so just pull the airbox and intake pipe off and have a look at the inside of the front of the turbo. Take a photo and post it up here.

From what I have heard very little change to idle, very little loss of low down power but a lot more midrange and some more top end. Most results I have seen are around ~20rwkw peak power but more in the midrange. How much does it cost to get someone to fit them?

Definitive Guide To Building 300-330awkw Gt-r
Harey replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Great result!!! I dont think that power figure is too high considering your nice fresh engine with cams. -
Well it sounds like they didnt get the ecu tuned to suit and if I didnt have to get the ecu tuned I wouldnt get a dyno done either. It is interesting though as for a street car 0-100 should be very important. I know some people were discussing times a while back. Wheelspin for a 9.4 second 0-100??? Its a good improvement from 10.5 especially with so little changes but its hardly fast lol

The head gasket comment by the tuner is rubbish, the standard nissan head gasket has been proven to huge power with aftermarket engine builds. Lots of tuners prefer them over aftermarktet metal ones. I understand if your tuner is worried about the standard engine overall. Does he have much experience with skylines? A lot of tuners that dont are hesitant to boost it too high as they are not aware of how strong they are. Give it hell as it is for a few months and then take it back and demand the boost be raised
