Sounds good but back to back on the same dyno using the same correction factor etc. -

Hmmm cant remember saying that. Your setup has a few more mods too RIPS aftermarket plenum and ARC super induction box. -

Please re-read "Trent showed me Joeyjoey's dyno using the same correction factor that he uses for Tao's dynos and it made 268rwkw". -

Cough Cough Trent showed me Joeyjoey's dyno using the same correction factor that he uses for Tao's dynos and it made 268rwkw. It only makes 280rwkw when you change the correction factor... Plus Joeys result is full boost at 3500rpm, not 3200rpm like your dyno shows Dave. When using the exact same dyno the SS1 on my car made 244rwkw and 20psi by 3200rpm. The SS1PU fits very closely to the SS1PU ~270kw and 3500rpm full boost and the SS2 very closely to the 3076 280-300rwkw and 3800rpm full boost. -
Do you know what boost it was running before with the rb25 head? I guarantee a crapload more than 18psi.

I think the SS series of Hypgergear turbos are the best, their response is significantly better imo. For that power level I would choose the SS2. People have made 300rwkw using the SS2 on 98 fuel on around 20psi. I personally wouldnt choose the ATR43G3 on a standard rb25 as it doesnt have the best response. Its not the injector size that gets you better fuel consumption but the spray pattern I believe. If its not a neo then you can use nismo 740cc injectors which are very popular. -
Woops yeah the "It must drive like a pig off boost?" was directed to the thread owner and the "NYTSKY 9.5 compression is what I would go for too especially with E85 fuel, that car must be mental!" was directed to you. 9.5 CR would be awesome off boost!
-
Great post GTRNUR! Wow compression ratio of 6.5 thats crazy! Who designed this engine? I personally would want the person building the engine ideally to be tuning it or at least in contact so the tuner knows how it should be tuned. This is far from a standard engine build and not the sort of thing you should just be booking in for a tune (with someone who doesnt know the engine) and dropping it down. It must drive like a pig off boost? NYTSKY 9.5 compression is what I would go for too especially with E85 fuel, that car must be mental!

Wow that SS3 result is pretty crazy 326rwkw and 510Nm of torque at like 4100rpm!!!! Its super responsive for that power level.
-
Thats obvious that using a huge turbo like you have now to only make ~450rwhp is not a good thing. You would be much better off with a smaller turbo that would make the same power with a lot better response. You have a choice either you change to a smaller turbo and make the same power with more response or you keep troubleshooting and chasing the big hp that your turbo is capable of. Big power is not just a matter of bolting lots of parts together and presto, it takes lots of troubleshooting and trying different parts to see what works on your car. You really need to find a tuner who you can talk to and say look I want your advice, I want you to troubleshoot to see what is holding it back and you are happy to pay. I mean after all the $$ you have spent on the parts you may as well put some decent money into the tuning and troubleshooting. If the 3 local tuners are not coming to the party then it may be worth taking the trip to Brisbane as mentioned above.

Nah I thought the SS2 had a 3" front? Dangerous territory mentioning to sarge about relocating his afm which would mean more custom piping and some custom wiring for his afm The other way to go fellers is to get a more responsive turbo like an SS1 or whatever. It much easier to make 250-260rwkw. The more peak power you shoot for the more restrictions you will hit and have to resolve. Its very common for the first time you change from a stock setup to not make the power it should. Almost every setup has something that needs to be tweaked or changed. Then once you have the flow sorted you can throw any sort of turbo on and get the full results like Tao's car.
-
I assume this is in response to Hanaldo's setup. I think its out of complexity. This way he can get it running and then later move the afm to the cooler piping and then stick on a 4" pod
-
Haha tough week mate. I think we are just all keen to see the SS2 do what it should. Shouldnt have to change the intake pipe if you remove the AFM?? If the pod wont sit in that location (where the afm would sit) just get another bit of pipe in place of the afm and then bolt the pod onto that. Yeah it is frustrating that you cant get anything off the shelf, as you said every other part you can. See mine below, its just a 90 deg ben with 2 bits of pipe welded on, some rubber hose and some clamps. As you can see I stuffed up the first location of the pcv breather haha.
-
It depends on what was done. I know SS8_Gohan had a place make him one for $350 that included 2 x 90 deg bends on the exact angle and location that hooked up to his standard airbox with both the ports connected. If its just for a 90 degree bend and 2 fittings then yeah thats VERY dear!
-
The ultimate would be one that bolts straight up the standard airbox so you have the option of airbox or pod.
-
Nope SargeRX8 keeps whinging about it... I bought the 90 deg bend for $20, then two separate lots of $20 to weld the two fittings on, then some pipe and hose to connect so all up prob $80. Was thinking about making a few up and selling them.
-
In your case Sarge, you had excellent results (in both power/response) on 11psi but then adding boost from there did not gain any more power. Therefore I would lean to a flow restriction, a manifold leak would show up as a bad 11psi result as well. As it flows well up to a certain point and then cannot get any more air through.
-
Is it more laggy? Does it feel less powerful overall? Does it sound like the turbo is running really hard? If so yeah I reckon a leak somewhere. If its not, then I would be looking at the boost controller.
-
Different cars right with different setups? Would need to do a direct before/after comparison on the same car.
-
For R32 and R34 I agree but for an R33 there a number of complications I believe with getting a nistune setup running well.
-
I think thats an overreaction! Its only the release of the condensation isnt it?? It just drops water on the ground. So if there is a hole burnt in it, then either the water will drop out the hole that was burnt or in my case the water is dripping back inside the passenger feet area.
-
My dump pipe is also close to the air con drain as in it has burnt it. Does this explain why I am getting some water dripping on the feet of the front passenger when the aircon is on?

+1 to make sure you have enough fuel delivery and then just enjoy Trent went to the effort of providing both E85 and 98 maps so I can switch back. I think its been over 6 months and I havent switched back to 98 once. Even when I go on longer trips I just throw in the boot some jerry cans full of Caltex Eflex. Cant go back now!
