  1. Hi All, I would like to get a metal intake pipe made up on my R34 GTT before I fit the larger turbo. Can anyone recommend somewhere good in melbourne that they have dealt with? Am I looking for an exhaust shop type place? Preferably on the East side of the city. Any help appreciated.
  2. They are very popular on the xr6 turbos. I think they have quite different injector pulse widths or something so require a bit of extra tuning to get right. If you want more info jump on an xr6 turbo forum they have tonnes of info on em.

  6. Oh wow its not tuned yet!! I agree with other people here, spend the cash on a professional tune. A tune will greatly affect the response of a turbo. It will be worth its weight in gold. I think its unfair to give Hypergear bad feedback without a proper tune.

  9. Im not commenting on the overall responsiveness of the turbo, but I could imagine somewhere near 1000rpm difference in lag between 1st and 4th gears.
  10. Because the stock turbo intake is being used it will need to start at 2.5" or 60mm (turbo end) and then increase to 3" as quickly as possible.   11. The 480s will be fine for your 98 power level but yeah if you go E85 and really push it you may be on the edge. Other options are the siemens deka 60lb injectors which are very cheap but require wiring modifications. There is a thread on here about it. Another option is the 650cc SARD injectors (but very pricey): http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...at=0&page=1 Everyone raves about the nismo injectors, spray pattern etc.
  12. Lag will be less in higher gears. This is because there is more load on the engine in higher gears. It wont be the same in every gear. What gear does it take till 5000rpm to hit boost?
  13. There is no such thing as a Walkinshaw VE E2. He has a VE HSV E2 with a walkinshaw upgrade kit consisting of aftermarket parts. Quote from the walkinshaw site: "Few can claim to know Commodore and HSV cars like Walkinshaw Performance. Therefore, if it is not the factory HSV exhaust, and its over the db limit, it is illegal plain and simple.   14. Of course speed is a factor, if cars didnt move there wouldnt be any accidents (although I am convinced some people would still crash). If someone was drug affected and ran into a tree at 100km/h, I would say the fact they were affected by drugs is the major factor. I would say speed was a secondary factor and not the cause of the accident. I know lets get drivers on drugs to slow down so when they crash its not quite as bad How many accidents are primarily caused by speed, this is my question. Some of the articles I have read suggest less than 10%. So whats with all these ad campaigns about speed being the issue. Have we just assumed people will be on drugs and drunk and we should limit the damage by slowing everyone down??
  15. joejoey etc uses 550cc nismo injectors on his R33 with E85 at 320rwkw, i think he said the injectors were running at 90% duty cycle. I know you cant use these injectors, but just for an example. So do you mean 270rwkw on 98 and 290ish on E85?
  16. Yes what you are saying is correct, if you are never going to go for more power then you are better to run injectors at 80% then 50% as it gives you more progression. Whether you would notice or not is another question. I have never heard of nismo 600cc injectors to fit the rb25det neo engine? Can you post some info on these and where they can be obtained.
  17. Just to make sure everyone is aware only the compressor cover is factory. The exhaust housing is larger then normal. So to 95% of inspections yes it will pass as standard, however it is possible someone very switched on could spot it. Also, comparing the dyno sheet so far to a genuine 3076 is not quite equal. Yes it has a very similar top end but the bottom end is quite a bit less, yes even if you take into account the turbo wearing in. I think its still very impressive and I have ordered one, however I dont think it should be sold as "equal to a genuine 3076".
  18. Except I would say 90% or more of people would be also installing larger injectors at the same time as a larger turbo. Also when I spoke to Tao he said that it needs a good harsh run in of the turbo, ie boosting it pretty hard. How can you safely boost a turbo hard thats not tuned?? The only conclusion I can see that makes sense, is get a full tune done initially, drive it hard for 200km and then get the tune checked after that.
  19. Did you not read the thread? Yes there are occurances of people doing stupid speeds and causing accidents but the point is its under 10% of the causes to serious accidents. And yet the police would have you believe its 90%! Noone said that speed wasnt an issue, but its only one of the issues. All the ads at the moment will have you believe that if you drive at the speed limit you are safe, what a load of crap. I want to see the % of accidents that are caused by unroadworthy and unlicensed drivers.   20. I dont understand this. I am guessing most people will be using new injectors so a tune will have to be done just for the car to run. So are you saying get a quick tune done while the turbo is new. Then get a full tune done after 200kms? Can you please describe what you mean, I have read it a few times in this thread but still doesnt make sense to me.
  21. What size intake pipe is required for the PU High Flow 3576? I am assuming because it has a factory comp cover that the factory intake pipe is fine?
  22. Just to clear up your statment Tao, you mean dyno tune it straight away. Then get another dyno graph done after 200kms and it will show better response. There is no need to dyno tune it again.
  23. By idiots do you mean people choosing to be silly? Not sure if people veering onto the wrong side of the road are choosing to be idiots. I think its either they literally have no idea or they are bored and loose concentration. Either way I dont think they are choosing to be silly. This is my point, is the main problem people having fun and doing silly things on the street? The accident figures seem to suggest it is not. None of the serious accidents over easter had anything to do with "hoons". And yet it seems to still be the main focus. I mean the hoon squad were talking about that drunk lady who ran into someone and killed them while she had a baby in the back seat. How in hell does that have anything to do with the word "hoon". Maybe she was driving a GTR but I am guessing not. Yes some people do silly things on the street for fun but I think its only a very small fraction of the serious accidents. Why do they not come out with statistics on the % of serious accidents caused by "hoons"... because its only a small number. Good ol scapegoat
