Is It Possible To Have A 3" Exhaust And Still Make Power?
Harey replied to Mid_Nite_R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
2.5" cross sectional area = 19.63 cubic inches 2.25" cross sectional area = 15.90 cubic inches 3" cross sectional area = 28.27 cubic inches 3" < 2 * 2.5" 28.27 < 39.27 3" ~= 2* 2.25" 28.27 ~= 31.81 So if your dump pipes are 2.25" then I think the 3" decat pipe is fine. However, if the dump pipes are 2.5" then the 3" decat pipe is quite a drop in size. The only real life test would be to drop the decat pipe and see. -

+1 Except for the comment about the cat. I think the cat is very important. After all it is the second component in the line after the dump pipe. I think it is a lot more important than the mufflers. -
Yup gotcha fellers, I have never heard that one before Just trying to make the point that if I used this logic at my job I would be fired within a week. How can they get it so wrong for so long and still stand by it. Why will they not come out and say ok we got it wrong, the road toll has not dropped, lets do this instead.

How many loud exhausts have caused major accidents... I am not saying I agree with illegally loud vehicles but surely its not the greatest concern we have as a state. Although it is refreshing to hear that speed wasnt mentioned! Surely harley bikes and the like should get defects. I dont care if thats how it came out of the factory, its ridiculous. Anyone seen south park?? F*GS

From another article: Senior Sgt Clarke said that as of 4pm on Easter Monday, 139 cars were seized by police traffic - 117 due to no motor drivers' licence and 22 for hoon behaviour. "Holiday periods always seem to bring out the hoon in those who have it lurking somewhere in them,'' Senior Sgt Clarke said. 117 didnt have a freaking license!!! But the summary is the 22 hoon drivers over the entire weekend, and who knows what classifies as hoon behaviour. Surely the issue is the 117 people without a drivers license!!

Article: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/two-kille...o-1225848954838 1. A 60-YEAR-OLD man was admitted to hospital after being run down by his own car in a hit-and-run by a car thief. 2. A 19-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life after being cut from the wreckage of a head-on crash in St Albans. 3. THREE people were seriously injured when a motorcycle crashed into two onlookers in Victoria's east. 4. Head on motorcyle accident. Speed is not the primary cause of any of these accidents. And yet the cops line is: ""I urge people who are on the road today to think about that and just remember that slowing down will not kill you, but speeding could." Yes I realise there were 2 or 3 people caught doing well over the speed limit and I dont agree with that but surely its only one of the issues. Two of the accidents were head on crashes on straight sections of road. "It is believed speed may have been a factor in the crash." Are they serious?? Driving on the wrong side of a straight section of road and having a head on accident is due to speed?? Well I mean of course if neither bikes were moving they couldnt have an accident but how can they be this illogical Surely 3 of these accidents are primarily caused by driver error. I didnt know that driving at 10km/h over the limit suddenly caused you to drift into oncoming traffic...

Anyone Been Defected For Aftermarket Low Mount Turbo?
Harey replied to Harey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Mentions them on this page: http://www.digi-hardware.com/rb25t3hiflow.html This dyno is using G2 profile of the ATR43: http://www.digi-hardware.com/images/dynosh...3272rwkwrpm.JPG I believe stao is saying with the G3 profile, but I dont have a dyno for that. The profiles explained: http://www.digi-hardware.com/atr43.html Correct me if I am wrong stao. I will be calling you very soon -
If your bored, have a read through the comments on the herald sun site. Some of them are very good and some just funny like "Another incident a driver sat on my tail a metre away 80 k zone. Went to police at local. constable sitting down feet up on counter asked if I was on right hand lane.exclaimed she would have done same. I was on left lane. How can you explain my dismay." The word 'hoon' is just getting ridiculous, now its people using mobile phones while driving, drunk drivers etc.

unless the cop has xray glasses your hiflow wont be caught... its completely standard from the outside. -
Its all about power to weight. Thats another reason why the R32 would have felt faster, not to mention the extra 80rwhp . I think its also about expectations, I wonder if you would be happy with 350rwkw or still want more haha.

You will need to buy 2 nissan plug adapters as it uses a different plug type.

Anyone Been Defected For Aftermarket Low Mount Turbo?
Harey replied to Harey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah ok thats what I thought. What do you think about a larger 0.82 housing on the factory comp cover? Obviously technically its not legal but I think it would be pretty hard to spot. -
if you can get a copy of his dyno sheet post it up. by the WOW factor do you mean the sudden hit of boost by a larger turbo? not really sure what your after, it spins the tyres in 2nd from 4200rpm to redline lol thats what i want it sounds to me like 300rwkw is never going to make you happy. go buy a new LS3 V8 and turbo that

Anyone Been Defected For Aftermarket Low Mount Turbo?
Harey replied to Harey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I agree, my cooler and piping is all sprayed black. I had a cop shine his torch on it from the front and could not see it. I also have a boost tee that I sprayed black and he did not find that either. I understand this guy might not be that clued on but he seemed to know where to look straight away. Only thing though the standard comp housing isnt black so wouldnt that make it stand out? The other option is the PU hi flow with the larger aftermarket 0.82 exhaust housing, that way the comp housing still looks standard. I am guessing most cops would look at the comp housing to see if it has NISSAN on it and if it does fine. -

Hi, I am relatively new to the skyline scene and own an R34 GT-T. I have done all the basic mods and am ready for a larger turbo. It is 95% a road car. My previous car I went to a lot of effort to have it legal as it had a highmount turbo and was very obvious when you opened the bonnet. So my thoughts have been to limit myself to a hiflow turbo so that police cannot hassle me (exterior of the turbo is same as standard). I have been pulled over once so far and he shone a torch down to the turbo but I dont understand what he can possibly see from doing that. When I look down there I cannot see any part of the turbo. I would prefer to install an aftermarket turbo (garret or similar) but dont want to have any risk of police troubles. So my question is who has been defected for installing an aftermarket turbo in the factory location with all other stock piping etc in place? Any advice much appreciated!

thanks mate, i also need the screws for the pipe going into the airbox if you have any.

Lots more response is the simple answer. When quoting full boost by rpm, you need to specify gear as well as it varies with each gear due to load. A nicely matched GT3076R with 0.82 housing is always going to be better then a mismatched GT35R with 0.63 housing on an RB25. Geeze a GT35 with 0.82 or 1.06 is going to be quite laggy on a stock RB25! I would only choose the GT35R if I was going to use the 0.82 housing and shoot for big peak power figures.

Hi All, I am converting my car from pod to stock airbox. The previous owner gave me the airbox but he did not give me any screws or anything to fasten it down. Anyone have some lying around? I am trying to get nissan to get me some but they are struggling. Any help much appreciated! Happy to pay for em.
