  1. mornin all paul can u get shitty small tyres as well? like 195s...?
  2. ah right thanks
  3. red17; does your EVC have fuzzy logic? or manual GAIN switches? this is what u can adjust to help boost come on quicker. if you increase GAIN this holds the wastegate shut longer, however if you turn it up too high it can cause overboosting. most people have gain around the 3/4 mark which gives a decent balance of quick spool-up and boost control theres a manual on the net about them as well, cos a few people here in perth have em and have had all sorts of dramas re-calibrating them from japan
  4. so what youre basically trying to say is tha bleed valves bring on boost earlier. please explain this einstein, (dont refer to zahos cos youll find hes actually saying that BLEED VALVES ON THEIR OWN WILL NOT BRING BOOST ON EARLIER) then why dont you call up top secret and tell them to take all the EBC's of their cars cos youve just discovered that bleed valves are in fact better. i dont think youre windows comparison relates to what we are saying dumbass. but nice try.
  5. i think youll find zahos' explanation supports what I am saying. why dont you try reading before posting. hell, why dont you try thinking before posting? limited experience eh? i forgot you needed a honours degree in boost controllers. the fact i have had EXPERIENCE with the 2 most popular bleed valves an EBC makes it possible for me to comment, whereas you seem to be simply talking out of your ass.
  6. and to think once upon a time SAU was a car club
  7. how does a cylinder leakage test differ from the std compression test?
  8. i am speaking entirely from experience. i have tried a turbosmart bleed valve - horrible GFB bleed valve - better, no spiking and constant boost blitz EBC - even better, holds boost, brings boost on earlier, and has electronic adjustment
  9. oxford spares used to hire them out or cromlins i think it is or if u go into ultra tune they charge basically nothing for a comp test
  10. you should be able to get it back, somehow... maybe whats with everyone having "Contributor" under their cars?
  11. think about the ways in which both solenoids increase boost. it is not possible for them to work in the same way. a bleed valves bleeds air away from the actuator line, which results in problems such as spiking and unrelaible boost control and EBC holds the wasteagate shut until the desired boost pressure is reached therefore bringing boost on earlier. the solenoids used in EBC's are not only electronically controlled but f better quality than in bleed valves and therefore can control boost more efficicntely fact: a bleed valve will not bring boost on any earlier fact: an EBC will, for reasons stated above.
  12. aidwan, id be lookin more toward the wastegate/turbo setup rather than the boost controller itself, cos if youre using the GFB valve it held perfect boost on my car.... and ive got an off-the-shelf HKS setup
  13. the engine would stall tho if the clutch wasnt fully disengaging... i dont know tho, doesnt really matter
  14. surging problems?
  15. oh god not another one. but yeh, take it to a paint shop. itll turn out alot beter
  16. it may not be hard, but the margin for error is very fine. ie its easy to make em look like SHITE
  17. haha dont paint sideskirts yourself, please its not a hyundai
  18. well im gunah put mine back on then... mornin shannon whys aidwan gettin rid ofhis side skirts? whys mackas turbo coming off? ive got boost creep too, can someone fix mine. crazy!
  19. mornin all paul: that question from yesterday was; is it safe to leave the cam cover off in case something falls in there and screws ya motor...
  20. a bleed valve is as good as an EBC? thats the biggest load of shit ive heard in a while how can simple, uncontrolled valve which bleeds pressure be just as good as an electronically controlled, dual solenoid valve? bleed valves are a piece of shit, and the only people who dont agree are those who havent yet used an EBC. can you please think before you type and not give people such bad advice
  21. 32s arent that hard to change, the biggest pain is that if youre nt careful fuel gets everywhere
  22. ah right so were talking more around the 170-180 mark then?
  23. higher? they are around the 150 mark for RB20DET, SR20DET, and RB30ET engines...
  24. plug gap should decrease with higher boost pressure ie 1mm is good for 8-10psi .8mm is good for 12-14psi and .6-.7 for anything over 1 bar also pay attention to heat range, nissan recommend anything from 5-7 on NGK plugs. (5=hot, 7=cold) sounds like a plug problem though, so just unbolt the intake pipe and coil pack cover and you should be able to get them out easily enough
  25. a bleed valve will not bring on boost earlier as it simply bleeds the air away from the actuator line an electronic boost controller will bring boost in earlier as most EBC's have a GAIN function, which holds the wastegate shut until the desired boost pressure is reached, rather than bleeding off the air... you need to bleed air away from the actuator line which comes out the 'top' of your internal actuator bolted onto the turbo (a picture may be of greater assistance) and for an EBC you will normally need a reading from the plenum, so just put a t-piece in one of the lines running from the plenum (preferably NOT the fuel pressure line) and make sure u have a boost guage before boosting the car, as the stock one is not accurate enough
