im throwing in the towel, i cant fix my car so im gunah have to pay someone. i need to know the best RB mechanic, not some poof in a performance workshop who can install bleed valves. i want this job done properly, at this stage it looks like a head gasket leak.

the gasket itself costs ~$100 from nissan theres probably about 2-3hrs labour involved in the change

well its gettin worse still bubbling through the coolant, and ive got no ****in idea whats goin on. invited over a mate whos a mechanic @ toyota and he has no idea

if youve got no programmable ECU's or anything then theres not alot of point getting it tuned. as far as timing goes, you can set that yourself, get hold of a timing light and make sure its at 20degrees btdc (i think thats what it is for an RB25) when u say tappits do you mean lifters? RB engines have hydraulic lifters and they can make a bit of noise. unfortunately they cant really be repaired without alot of work. you can dull the sound a little by using a thicker oil... the other thing which could be ticking is either an exhaust leak, or the injectors may be noisy. ive heard a couple of SR's with noisy injectors but its probably nothing to really worry about

yeh jump on the dyno and find out what its really pulling... from there u can figure out whats wrong (ie if youre losing 20hp or 80hp)

or bcos ive had the head off and the entire cooling system apart and it wouldnt bleed out in 15mins... ive replaced the overflow return hose and the radiator cap last week. im hoping its still air in the system. if its a gasket leak im hoping a re-tension will sort it out... fingers crossd

if the gasket is leaking, then exhaust gases will run through the coolant. this is the basis for the testing mechanisms most workshops use sydneykid; i did yeh. i only bled it for about 15-20mins so theres a chance its just in the system (hopefully) so in my case i would knock it back to 22ftlbs then tighten to 75ftlbs?
