  1. yeh thats one rooted motor.... did you check the plugs for signs of detonation?
  2. im definately up for an MC day
  3. a timing controller aint gunnah help you control your injectors... the 910 is a good choice, and yes cam it does fit in the std bracket with a bit of modification. youve got to worry about low/hish impedance when looking at rx7/rx3 injectors. a mate of mine with a VL put these in his car, and just driving around for a few days before tuning ruined his engine as the injectors were spraying so much fuel it glazed the bores.
  4. thanks for that rob... personally i think the RB20 is a great little engine BUT put a decent size turbo on it and it dies in the ass. its horrible around the street and an automatic v6 commodore is quicker off the line. you do learnt to adapt your driving style to stay within the power band but its the main reason why i changed my turbo to a smaller unit. i think its a matter of balancing both things out, low down power is good, but useless if u have no top end to keep on going. but as many have said around the street you can beat low rpm power
  5. ull need a right-angled drill then use an ezy-out.
  6. take the turbo off the manifold and take it somewhere to have the thread removed would be the easiest option.
  7. Blitz ROMmed ECU for RB20DET Ignition and Fuel Map changed, came off a lightly tuned engine. Made 270rwhp with this ECU, boost, fuel and speed cuts all removed - Is a complete replacement unit for the std ECU. $300 ono email [email protected] or PM me for further inquiries
  8. fairly yeh but its an intermittent problem so a pain in the ass to diagnose
  9. checked timing - its at 5 degrees although every so often the car comes alive and its fine could it be a problem with the fuel pump installation? possily a bad pick-up?
  10. $150
  11. $350 PM if i win the auction
  12. the bosch 910 is also easy but rated at a lower 400hp. is internal and fits into std bracket.
  13. cancel me then i cant figure it out ill order on my own so i dont hold it up any further
  14. personally i would NEVER do that - you obviously havent needed to have ur car towed by one of them but it is actually quite handy to have towage points on a car
  15. get a radiator pressure tester and a torch pressurize the cooling system and get under the car and locate where the coolant leak is coming from. be careful u dont get too low on coolant - i had a similar leak which i was unaware of until the top tank on the radiator split and the engine overheated - nice
  16. it compressor surge as you let your foot off the throttle the throttle body closes, if the BOV doesnt vent away the air in the piping the only way it can go is back through the turbo and out the pod filter.
  17. with a budget of $1200 you could get a VG30 or rebuild yours small garrett and HKS turbos like the GT35 and 2530 are around the $2K mark
  18. dcieve: the one ive got is the one you want series 1 AFC - 5 adjustments over the rev range
  19. gts500 - thanks mate, i think ill make the trip out to bassendean!
  20. personally forget about the greddy plenum, the std plenum's design is very good and can support a decent amount of power. i would save and do the turbo next - but it all depends on what your plans are for the car in my opinion unless you are gunah run a rebuilt and strengthened motor at 4-500hp its not worth changing the plenum.
  21. yeh thats fairly slow you should be 6.x at least it depends on the car for shift times and launch revs, after driving and practicing for a while you eventually learn the best combination for your setup.
  22. firstly get a hold of a timing light, and hook it onto the loom sticking out the back of the coil pack cover. shine it down the front of the engine and line it up with the timing marks on the crank pulley housing. it starts at 0 and goes up in 5 degree increments. standard timing is supposed to be 15 degrees (BTDC) so then take a 10mm wratchet and undo the CAS bolts and knock the CAS anti clockwise a few mm's and then tighten up and recheck using the timing light. anti clockwise = advance clockwise = retard then take it for a spin on the road listening very carefully for pinging (however if u set it to 12-15 degrees it should be fine) if it pings retard it a little and there u go - timing adjusted.
  23. i changed it when i first got the car around a year ago but have had the injectors cleaned so thought i might as well do the fuel filter as well as it looks pretty crusty im not after a high performance one really, just a replacement. ryco list the z201 as their replacement filter for the RB20 was jsut wandering if there was another alternative eg RB30 fuel filter or VG30DETT fuel filter? so my question should probably read; is the z201 a stock replacement filter
  24. yeh ill try and scan the instructions...
  25. liz; yeh but hes always worn his shirt untucked or a shirt thats too smal with the collar up. aarons been whinging for ages but valere finally layed the smack down and he had to put on a red shirt. except he was too embarrassed to get changed so he put it on over the top hahaha how was drinks? would have been nice to go - i had a few when i got back to try and relax from probably the most stressful day ive had ever!
