R34 GTR Cd is 0.34
-
Just off the top of my head I would assume it would be quite reasonable, but I will check on it to confirm, but as the R34 was designed off the R30 I would think it might be quite good as I said. Cheers, D
-
Humble apologies my dear friend, but my wind tunnel test results don't differenciate between an EDR, KHR, RMR, or any other derivative, because I guess at the end of the day THEY ARE ALL R30's or have I got this wrong to Whilst I'm here does anyone know why the 2010 GTR has a slightly different Cd to it's predecessor? Cheers, D

Want To Use A 1970 Gtr For Wedding Car
Ghostrider replied to AAA34T's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
There is this one too! And it is not the real deal, as I have already enquired. http://www.importmonster.com.au/view?url=http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k132502234&thumb=http://f3.auctions.c.yimg.jp/img233.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/5/3/8/1/zakkakanm-thumb-1297906797344193.jpg&title=44%204%20GTR Could be the same car except for the blue sticker on the front. You bloody old fart ......... cant you read either lol

Nobody got any ideas???????? I find this amazing! Just imagine the McLaren F1 has a worse Cd than the R30! The R30 has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.27 The 2007 GTR has a drag coefficent (Cd) of 0.27 The 2010 GTR has a 1/100th of a point better Cd at 0.26 and is the slipperiest Nissan ever built. To put this figure into a bit of perspective, the R32 GTR has a Cd of 0.40, the R33 GTR 0.35, 280ZX @ 0.385, 1983 Z31 300ZX has 0.30, 1989 Z32 has 0.32, G37 Infinity coupe has 0.31 and both 350 & 370Z 's 0.30 Cheers, D

C210 Coupe For Sale On Ebay
Ghostrider replied to NightMonkeyII's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Hey Ricky, Good luck with the 14's, I'm curious what you can get from your 308 C210 that weighs 1273kg. My auto MX83 Cressida at 1420kg fitted with 4.0L 1UZFE 32V Quad cam alloy V8 run a 14.709 at WSID and then I was happy, because no 5.0L brock dunnydore ever went that quick on the 1/4 (400m) The day I run the 14.709 I had an 195 HSV dunnydore against me and he was one really pissed off owner. lol Cheers, D -

That's interesting, because every one I have found on Yahoo & enquired about through Import Monster has a L series in the front. -
Yeah! me too, just curious about the RTA and how he got on with them? Also club plates as one of my PNV's comes due next year, but not the one I want to put on them. Cheers, D

Ghostrider replied to AAA34T's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Sad for sure, but I'm told getting one complete with original S20 engine would be every bit impossible to get out of Japan, as Nissan has some sort of register keeping track of every single engine number. Cheers, D -
Well guys I might be throwing a spanner in the works. I currently have a 2001 Jackaroo 3.0L Diesel for my tow car rated at 2500kg braked capacity with an Hayman Reece Receiver Hitch and have been looking at replacing it with an M35 Stagea. I just contacted Fast Fit Towbars in Sydney (02) 9569 4217 and put the question to them. They tell me they have fitted towbars to the M35, but with a max capacity of 1200kg braked. It would be excellent if I could get up to about 2000kg, so if anybody finds information above 1200kg, I would be very interested. Cheers, D

Has anyone really wondered why our R30 Skylines slip through the air so well? Drag, down force, design etc all go to fuel efficiency, but do you know there is only one (1) Nissan with a better drag coefficient (Cd) than the R30 Skyline. Cheers, D

Geez mate, your garage big enough to fit 10 cars in it? Cheers, D

Had My First Spin Out, Scared Me Shitless
Ghostrider replied to RobertoB's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Ok, I have done my share to shoot you down, but let's just look at some facts? You claim to be doing 60kph around a slight bend in 5th (OD) and with a little acceleration you lost it and did a 360 spin??? Well I now invite everyone that has looked at this thread and or made a comment to Google Harbour St Cockle Bay Sydney NSW and have a look at the road this has allegedly taken place on. That is of course if the stretch of road is not well known to you already. There is nothing that resembles even a slight bend as such and I drive this road about 6 times a week in up to 14.5m stretch coaches & hummer limousines. It is also an 80k stretch of road and in a coach we go through it as near to flat out as we can to get up the ramp onto the harbour bridge. At best it is a set of 2 very lazy curves that requires next to nil turning of the wheel to negotiate. The worst bit being at the start in front of Imax Theatre, but that still isn't a bend. Your car weighs about 1370kg, max power of 184Kw @ 6400rpm, max torque of 294Nm @ 4800rpm and @ 60kph your engine is doing about 1550rpm. Now some others may correct me if I'm wrong, but your car isn't coming onto boost till somewhere near 2500/3000rpm which suggests to me you stuck your boot in it to do what we do in heavy vehicles to get up the ramp and hence when the boost kicked in you lost it and went into a spin. That says driver error, inexperience in the car & in the wrong conditions, nothing to do with oil on the road as you so think we should believe. At the end of it all the person behind the wheel is responsible for how the car/vehicle behaves on the road. Drive to the conditions........ ease on the power and you will probably find driving your Skyline much more rewarding like most of us do. I don't think your thread is telling quite the truth????? Anyway, that said, if you feel the rear end step out, the easiest fix is take the foot off the gas and let the car correct itself and most defensive driving courses with tell you exactly that. As Duncan said, you can do a lot worse than joining the car club, as under normal conditions these cars handle quite well and you can attend the many outings they have to help you learn how to handle your car to it's potential. If you read your owners handbook, I'm sure it will say something like 5th gear (overdrive) is for 80k and above! Cheers, D -

You might be best served finding a needle in a haystack for your wedding fella. Only 2 good ones or even suitable cars in this country & both are in Victoria as best I know and to get them to Sydney for a day might cost you more than you're prepared to pay. If it's a classic Skyline you want as a wedding car, I would suggest you rethink your choice of model and maybe one with 4 doors. Cheers, D -
Had My First Spin Out, Scared Me Shitless
Ghostrider replied to RobertoB's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Mister "Kellogg's" makes very good licenses so I hear often and I see here is just another example? With over 4000000 k's under my belt, I can honestly say I have never done a 360 spin ever and an open forum like this is not the place to tell the world you have. I know exactly where you were, travelling along Harbour St behind Cockle Bay Wharf and you're lucky you weren't cleaned up by a couple of govey buses and or bounced off the concrete barriers, because it is barely 2 lanes at the best of times. As 1 said, what were you doing in 5th gear at 60kph in the first place? Any driving skill, even that needed to qualify for the Kellogg's brand license would tell you it's the wrong gear by about 2 or 3 in a 5 speed box. Lots of things could have been the reason for this and one not suggested is tire pressure? If your rear tires were low in pressure your grip capabilities decrease dramatically in dry conditions and you were in the wet. Any tin pot no namr tire should be capable of keeping a reasonably competent driver in a straight line in wet conditions and probably there lies the answer? You are probably not a competent driver and worse driving something with 185Kw in front of you. Try getting some experience before you want to be an idiot next time??????? That's my 2 bobs worth. Cheers, D -

C210 Coupe For Sale On Ebay
Ghostrider replied to NightMonkeyII's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Well I never did a V8 conversion to a datsun, but when I was a mad racer back in the 70's I had a 2.0L MGB motor in an Austin A30, a mate had a 289V8 in an 105E Anglia, another put a 327 Corvette into a Rover 100 and I remember the 2.5L Buick (orig Rover) V8 going into a Morris Minor & an MGB. All handled pretty well except the Anglia, but it went like a shell in a straight line at Warwick Farm. What I have done in recent years is a 1UZFE Toyota V8 into an MX83 Cressida and that car was physically 30kg lighter over the weigh bridge than with the 7MGE straight 6 in it. Power was up to 195Kw at the fly & all the engineers wanted was upgraded front brakes from the donor car, so I fitted LS400 (276 x 28mm) rotors up from std 256 x 20 and the single 60mm piston caliper. It handled quite good to with help from King springs & Koni shocks all round. Probably the best touring car I have ever had! Cheers, D -

Yes! I can do that for you. Do you have a preferred or would Skinny Dog Freight be the go? I could probably get it on GTS if you like?? Cheers, Dennis -
I have for sale 3 x Gearboxes complete, all in very good condition plus 1 x R33 GTR V Spec Gear Set. The R33 V Spec is currently gearbox minus shifter & transfer case and has shot synchros. I want to keep the front housing for an FJ conversion and am open to offers on the gear set. The HR31 RB20DET Gearbox is complete and I'm looking for about $400.00. The Z32 300ZX Gearbox is complete and I'm looking for about $700.00. These gearboxes are very nearly indestructable and very similar to R33 RB25GTSt gearboxes. The T5 Gearbox is complete with shifter and is off an Z31 300ZX Turbo, but with the right bellhousing it will also fit Holden, Ford & 280ZX. I'm looking for about $100.00 for this T5 box. All items are in Campbelltown area, out in Sydney's south west. Please call Dennis on 0406142529. Thanks.

There is a red MR30 sedan getting about with a P76 V8 up front. Last time I saw it was at Wakefield on a track day and it handled like a pig. It didn't last long as I think it ran out of brakes and didn't get round a corner or 2 lol D -

Options For Front Struts And Brakes For C210 1978
Ghostrider replied to Peter C's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
As R34 says, fixing the stock front end is by far less expensive than going down the modifying track. A set of springs will cost between $200 ~ 300.00, no matter wether they are King's or custom made and the replacement strut inserts, the sky's the limit. You might find a/mkt Ultima inserts fairly cheap on fleebay but they wont control the new springs unless made to factory spec. A Monroe GT130/GAS replacement is a cheap upgrade from stock, adjustable Koni's would be my recommendation but cost is the element then. It all depends on your budget and the purpose you want the vehicle for? Cheers, D
