Do you still have the part number you bought them on? My parts list does not list them at all. Thanks, D

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I might be taking mine off the DR trackstarr and try fitting early series mirrors so I don't risk breaking the later model electric mirrors playing Fangio. I probably have about 6 spare doors I can look at, so I'll look tomorrow and so on. I'm surprised they are not available ex Japan, but I guess everything for these cars will be in the same boat eventually. I'm looking for a 3.9:1 R200 diff too, open will suffice as I have 3 x 4.11:1 LSD's I can play with. I'll reply if I'm successful. Have you tried glueing them in situe with something black. Cheers, D

Come on guys I see your there lol
-
Is this what we're looking for?
-
If it's what I think your talking about, "the triangular parts the mirror mounts to" ??? The early parts are now out of production, along with the filler piece and 2ndhand is the only way for these early front fender mounted rear view mirrors. The later model items are possibly available but I need to know exactly what I'm looking at. Cheers, D

Can you drop a picture to pinpoint exactly what your looking for please Steve? Cheers, D

Wtb Standard Dr30 Turbocharger
Ghostrider replied to D-limo's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
Depending on how much you want to pay, the 280ZX turbo's in USA come up on Blax240's auctions reconditioned. They are identical in everyway to the non intercooled FJ20et turbo with .63 rear housing. -

I think he wants too much money for this, after all it's only pipe your buying and secondhand as well. MAG86 recently bought a similar stainless system for about half of this and just because it says it's Kakimoto, doesn't really mean it's worth this much. Cheers, D -
Effective Bonnet Venting For Turbos
Ghostrider replied to DJRIFT's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Something I took particular notice of in Adelaide was the bonnet set up on the Winfield (Godzilla) GTR of Terry Ashwood's. It sure looks like it is spaced slightly UP at the front and I can only assume that's to get more cool air into the engine bay. As Duncan said, spacing the rear is a rice fad and also give a great outlet for oil to the windscreen if the motor lets go and then you can't see sh!t. Cheers, D -

Effective Bonnet Venting For Turbos
Ghostrider replied to DJRIFT's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
For what it's worth, I have done this to a standard metal DR30 Iron Mask bonnet for similar results to what you want. Simple physics is that air flows over an vented object creating a low pressure area under the vent and therefore sucks the air out of the vents as it passes over the top. When looking at the picture, the 6 front vents sit very nearly at the front of the engine and rear of the radiator. This is designed to increase the air flow through the radiator & intercooler and disperse the heated air out the top. The vents/louvers circled sit just above and slightly to the rear of my high mount and is designed to take the hot air away from the turbo. I'm also using an turbo sock on the exhaust housing and a ceramic coated manifold. Where are you in the island state? HPC in Melbourne are or have been experiencing problems with the coating flaking inside the manifolds and last I heard they are no longer coating inside prior to the turbo, thus trying to eliminate engine failure due to bits of ceramic breaking away from the manifold. I'm in Sydney and the best place I know is Comcoat at Granville NSW and a manifold will cost you upwards to $250.00. Cheers, D -

Maybe some others could add to this list of pics, because there were lots of cameras getting used on the day. I have seen on the big screen some very good pics of some of the cars, so please add to the list to make it more complete. Cheers, D -

Let's just put a few things straight! I am NOT unhappy, I'm thrilled to bits, that I won the class, especially when on the day before, Friday at 1.00pm I lifted the covers off the car to find it was black from diesel exhaust soot collecting under the car cover over the 3 days travelling to Adelaide. That's something I will never do again, cover a car in transit. If it wasn't for MAG86 and his mate Chance and their efforts to help clean up the car with the assistance of a sh!t load of Bug & Tar Remover, the car might not have been presented at all at the show n shine. I am very grateful for their help and assistance. As it was I was washing the car at 10.00pm that night at the motel. As for announcements, the entire table I was sitting at, including MAG86 heard nothing other than the 2 R30 awards already spoken of, but coincidently we did hear R31, R32 & R33 awards announced that nobody was there to collect and the presentation table was bare after the track awards were done. The uncollected awards were on the 2nd table to the left & behind the microphone and dias. You forgot SVD class and have I got it wrong when I say it's GTS R31 as well. As Rob Ward said, it was very disappointing that some recognition by announcement wasn't done regardless of wether they were there to accept or not. At least everyone at the presentation dinner would be aware of the awards won on the day and some of what I said earlier might not have been said at all. Some of the comments made by judges bewildered me a little, like freedom to choose between stereos & owner's manuals????? The way I got it was that if a car had an after market non vintage stereo system (CD/DVD/MP3 etc) fitted, yet had the original owner's manual that car would be awarded max points for that section as standard, as opposed to a car that has standard option radio and no owner's manual, would also receive max points in that section. How can that be??? What happens then to the car that has both, the standard vintage radio system & original owner's manual??????????? Why should not that car have the wood over the other 2 in that section????????? I thought the Show n Shine was a fantastic event and the attendance of over 100 cars was outstanding and haven't seen a turn out like it since my Hillman/Humber days. The presentation of the cars was great, showed that some owners were maticulous about their presentation & preparation, just a pity there was so many white ones that they couldn't be broken up and mixed about more, but that's how the cookie crumbles as it goes. Cazz's GTS 145 was stunning, it's presentation was superb on the SVD mat, but if I have been informed correctly, it should be after the dollars that were thrown at it. Cazz also made the comment she thought Stephen King's Series 1 HR30 was a stand out and was marginally better than mine, which was an interesting opinion, as Stephen thought the exact opposite on the day and has asked me to procure parts for him to make it a little different the next time we meet. Stephen thought my presentation and condition for it's age was outstanding. Other than the black C110 coupe, I thought the sound of triple DCOE's on the white sedan was brilliant, just a pity more diligence wasn't paid to the detail of the overall presentation of the car. I am looking forward to the 2012 event, so that I can show off both of my Paul Newman Version Skylines and my DR30 track car. I'll be a bit longer in the tooth by then, so I might have to co opt an apprentice to do some or all the track time in the DR in my place. I made my comments on how I saw it and it sure looked like it was biased in favour of R31's, not on wether or not I was happy. I have quite a few pics of the cars that I will download later. Cheers, D -

106 cars at the Show 'n' Shine on the Saturday and 60 track starters. If Ravenoak is talking about the black C110 coupe, in my opinion it should have got "Car of the Show" but there was no such prize or plaque, which should be corrected in 2012 along with other STAND OUT anomalies. The classes were Prince, "Pre 1986" and then R31, HR31, R31GTS/SVD, R32, R33, R34 and Others. Plaques were awarded to Winner & Runner Up for Standard & Modified to EVERY class except pre 1986? There were 8+ R30 variants plus 2 C110's yet only 2 plaques and both of those were for STANDARD vehicles. Can't help but notice the bias towards R31 variants??????? Maybe in 2012 we could have MR, HR, DR and Bastard in all variants??? The best R30 standard class was my factory version KHR30 Paul Newman Version and it was the best standard variant in the show and not just by my opinion. Runner up was Rob Ward's MR30 sedan, with dedicated LPG, turbo, Haltek ignition, 17 inch wheels, commodore front brakes, disc brake conversion rears and 205+ Kw at the wheels. Standard????????? You work it out! But! There were only 2 awards for all pre 1986 variants and no modified class, so runner up had to go somewhere. If there was a modified class, the black C110 would have won hands down, lay down mizzaire and should have gone on to win best car of show, BUT IT DIDN'T? -
