  1. PS how much are you getting the sm4 P & P for?(PM me if you like) Their seams to be only one distributor here in NZ, he has quoted me $2,650 plus installation/tuning costs.
  2. on topic. the autronic cdi and some mercury coils would be the bees knees (without going to an M&W cdi lol). That combo is going to cost you near on 1400. (get the coils from ur local motec dealer) I agree, but you still have to run wasted spark. Numberous people say its not good, any may more say it fine. I personally have tryed it and found I had to reduce my spark plug gap from 0.8 to 0.6 to stop missfiring. I wasnt impressed and switched straight back to std coils. Wasted spark with 500R CDi would be a different story altogther id imagine, but as u say the cost is getting a bit out of my league. (when i first posted this thread a mate had one for sale cheap... but it has now gone I be running RB plug and play SM4 which comes with 6 channel multiplexer. The easiest option for me is to combine this with some splitfires if people think it will do the job...?
  3. Id perfer to go the splitfire route without an amplifer as it is much cheaper. I know they will be fine up to 350rwkw but if I go further in the future - say 400rwkw will they still be fine or would I be better off with a different ign system. I want to do this once and do it right... the cheapest way possible. cheers rob
  4. Ive just finished my RB 25/30 build and plan to run a Autronic SM4 ecu. Aiming for 350rwkw as this stage. Im not sure what the best road to take is regarding the ignition system. As far as I see it I have 2 options: 1) Replace problematic coils with splitfires and hope they run well for ??? years. 2) Buy a Autronic CDi unit and associated coils.A far superior setup however, as far as im aware the 500r has only 4 outputs so have to run wasted spark. Which is not ideal? Any ideas or alternatives would be appreciated. rob.

  6. Yeh I was looking for a decent GTR head for about 4 months here in NZ and found nothing suitable... One was 2.4K!!! Unfortunately im pretty committed to the 25 head as i have the intake and exhaust plenum/manifold well under way. SK could you help out with some of my questions... ive numbvered them just the way u like it Just to clarify 2. Can I use some reground rb20det cams to get rid of the vvt and allow adjustable pullies 6. I have top feed GTR injectors and a custom fuel rail, but the injectors dont sit in the rb25 (side feed) holes very well... is there a seal i can use - see pic. Thanks for the help rob.
  7. Hi I have read a lot of the last 247 pages and searched as much as I can but still have a few unanswered questions I was hoping you guys could help me out with. Im putting the rb25/30 standard bottom end engine in a r32 and gonna use a TO4z turbo. The car will be used for track days, tarmac events, and the like. So here goes… 1. If (can) I use a RB26DETT d-jetro power fc. Ive read its been done before but with what sensors? I’m hoping to use my rb20det sensors and loom. 2. If I use the d-jetro will it control the VVT solenoid in my RB25DET head? If not, can I remove the vvt pulley and cam and use a RB20DET cam with adjustable pulley. 3 If I can I would probably get it ground for longer duration and higher lift, I think SK recommends 264 – 270 duration – but what is the max lift I can use without having to machine anything. 4. Will the PFC run high and low impedance injectors? 5. If the vvt cam is removed can I supply the oil for the cam bearing via the vvt solenoid hole? 6. How do I get top feed injectors to fit an rb25det (side feed) plenum. Is there a seal or o-ring I can use? Thanks heaps for the help. Rob.
  8. Ive found a nice orc twin plate clutch and flywheel on ebay for my rb30det, problem is its off a 300zx. Will this fit my rb30 and rb25det gearbox ??? cheers.
  9. Thanks for the info guys, im limited to 95ron as im in NZ, and they dont seem to give a stuff about the quality of fuel the give us... are octane boosters worth using? I realise 400rwkw is a bit optimistc, but its been done here many times before, see R.I.P.S skyline. SK, i was planning on using a GTR head with standard cams and maybe adjustable gears, with a CR of 8.3 to 8.5... sound doable? What A/R and trim T04Z should i look for??? cheers
  10. Im looking into building a approx 400rwkw RB30 for tarmac events, track days, and street use. I was wondering on the best (performance and value for money turbo, and wastegate size). Alot of people recommend the GT35r, but they dont seem to make the numbers? and that is confirmed by my rough fugures on the compressor maps (i could be very wrong). I would prefer to use garrett as i can get them reasonably cheap - oh and i dont want to run to much boost, over 20psi say as i only have access to 95octane gas. Also, is a 38mm wastegate suitable or do i need to use a 45-48mm size bearing in mind the later is generally twice the price. cheers rob
  11. will u sell the head seperately? what would it cost to send to NZ cheers
  12. Hi Im interested in the whole kit but i live in nz. Is it possible for u to sent to nz, and if so how much will it cost? Let me kno what your lowest price is. cheers rob
  13. Keen for lower lip, will pay $150... depending on how much to ship to NZ. Let me kno.
