  1. solenoids help the car go into gear and will crunch if faulty or worn (could be the issue but the gearbox light wouldn't come up for this. Its suspect an electrical problem. When you have a auto car and you put a manual gearbox in, if you don't change the ECU to a manual ECU and get rid of the auto one the car will go into 'limp mode'. The car is sluggish and cannot get over 50km\h. Its defiantly an electrical problem that your car is having because it has gone into limp mode. have a diagnostics test run on it (it my have just been a short and wont happen again).......
  2. It may be the oil pump .......... Rb engines like to break oil pumps. (not sure if the oil pressure switch will pick this pressure drop up) Also check all tubes and pipes for leaks and disconnections, the oil pressure light would turn on if this happened because there is a drop in pressure so it may be this. There the two best things too look at and fixing. I don't know why transmission light has come into it. (sure its transmission light?)
  3. What about Whiteline heavy duty blade adjustable swaybars front and rear with the link kits. Swaybars feel better than ungrading suspention! Also change all the bushes and strut braces. Pretty sure thats 2 grand well spent there. You would only have to do your links after that but to get all the links done cost well over 2 grand because there are so many in skylines. Build looks great
  4. sweet, my fully reconditioned engine is at 167kw with a pod and heat shield. But then again i dont drive it much now that i hit a wall because semi slicks are the devil!!! I agree with you for not getting rid of your car. Its still yours and going to be a turbo and everything will be the condition that you know because you have had the car for 3 years and its not to expensive so your thinking smart......As for brakes the NA brakes are fine you just need a really good pad (changing the caliper should be better but from what i have heard people say there is almost no difference with the turbo pads to the NA pads ) If you get good pads then the rotors are even more important and if you want to stay 4 stud you will have to order r33 GTST rotors from DBA but ask the engineers to drill the 4x114.3 hub bolt holes. It can be done because i work at supercheap and plan too get some nice 4000 series from them. Handling is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. hey guys. If you were to do the S2 conversion you would need to change -Hood -Headlights -Reo bar -Front bar -grill What about bonnet hinge? Front quarter panels? Also because its a r33 series 1.5 i never had fog lights (driving lights) so when i change to a series 2 bar does the car have to be re- wired ??? do i need to change the stalk to get the fog lights to work? I am doing this conversion as my M-spec has had a front ender and i can convert to a series 2 for $2500 inc brand new carbon bonnet with 4 tuff looking scoops on each side and a big scoop in the middle so its a definite and im going to make a tuff s2 Need help as i have all the parts to get on thursday but not sure if my series 1 guards are the same as series 2!!!!! HELP PLEASE
  6. its been done so much. My mate wants my spare rb25 parts to do it at the moment. Its alright but there is one problem where the oil galleries clog up easily. They line up fine but the drift r31 has gone through 2 engines because of this. I am thinking about doing a huge right up and attaching what is already in one of the sticky's about how to get N\A performance. Have a look at it because it covers a lot about he rb25\30 conversion. Your going to have to study what parts to use because i know r31 conrods can not go over 6500rpm or the will crack.... To be honest i just did a 2.7L bore and hone worked well with a full recondition.
  7. DON'T TIGHTEN YOUR BELT IF THEY HAVE BEEN DONE PROPERLY!!! Too many people do this and when you take the water pump out it will look like someone put a grenade in there, also it puts stress on your bearings in the alternator and then you will have to get new bearings for it, also your Power steering pump will start making a humming noise and you will have to change it. The owner before me had it done to my r33 before i re-built the engine and fixed all that. Just spray some WD40 on them at them moment because WD40 is not a lubricant ............. silicon spray is a lubricant. If you want to change the belts and its a r33 turbo model its 4pk 835, 865 and 925 and NA its 4pk 845, 850 and 910. You can get the belts form gates or something for a turbo no problem but the NA's have too be ordered for Nissan or pitwork as there the only company that make these sizes under the same brand name.
  8. after series 2 gearbox surround in the interior, whats its condition like. I'm after perfect-almost perfect as im reconditioning my interior. Cheers, Andrew
  9. 1). Umm, to gain power you need a heat shield and cold air intake, the exhaust wouldnt do anything the cat and extractors are all that needs to be done to NA's if you want value. 2). All range in sizes (length) Apexi are stubby if your after a small one. If your a P' plater its "illegal" but i have had every cop that is not a highway patrol fine with it. Reason being NSW ask for the pod filter to be enclosed in a heat shield too make it legal for street use. The cops see it like that and are fine but the highway patrol just say take it off and then drive away. Yes people do put pod filter in there stock airboxes. 3). No, not necessarily. you could have filter paper wrapped around your intake hole and it would still change how much air is being taken in. 4). Yes, if you make yourself a heatshield and cold air intake with the pod in it and had the stock airbox and highflow panel you would be looking at the same setup for a NA. There isn't enough induction to create an actual strain on how much air flows through the filter on the NA. Thats why turbos and pod filters will atleast make there difference, you wont get induction sounds for it. If my foot is flat to the floor and i get to 5000rpm i can hear a sucking that sounds pretty weak. Id compare it to like 10% the induction volume of a turbo To be honest, it will have no performance difference. Its up to you if you like the stock look or a pod filter look.
  10. HMM just re bored my GTS4 engine out too 2.7L. Anyone who can grab this for $700 would be getting a pants pleasing deal NA 4WD works well together.
  11. Was there too, it was great. HAHA sure feels like its your eyes shabe but there 120Db+, they are actually vibrating the sound barrier.......sweet Also found out that each pipe coming out the engine release's 300kg's of pressure which was hard too believe. Ill be going again
  12. cheers mate! =) yeah i ask my friend who builds computers to make me one that is not the biggest in power but the fastest for games. The RAM and graphics card are not large but are faster than the larger cards and RAM out at the moment so its my gaming computer and not just some computer that's unstable. It gets marked tomorrow but i dont get the results for awhile but ill defiantly have it on the 3dmark06 ASAP. (probably a week) only coast me $1700 to make this computer + $400 for the case i made. Ill came it back and put it on the skyline haha
  13. yeah it has done this before about 2 months ago when i used headlights. Didnt do it since then and i have driven heaps with my headlights and tonight it didn't do it...... It is a brand new engine but the wiring is original 171,000km Alternator was taken from a mates skyline with only 38,000km. i also took the engine with wiring harness and lots of bits. even the exhaust manifold with a O2 sensor on it. My sensor is old and rusty and i should have swapped it when i did my engine. Anyway, no progress on the idle as i did stop tonight a few times and it just was normal, i knock it into neutral just before i stop and it idles at 1200rpm and then when it completely stops in neutral it idles at 700rpm so it was being normal tonight. Unlike last night staying at 1500rpm without budging.
  14. Hey guys, i was driving today and had no problems with my idle what so ever then tonight i drove off and tuned my headlights on and when i came to the traffic lights i was doing 1500rpm while sitting there, i looked to see if i was just stupid and had my foot on the accelerator but nope. I took off and then it happed at the next set of lights so i reved to 4000rpm and it droped back to the normal 700rpm. I took off an came to a set of lights to see it was doing it again! i took off and before i came to a stop this time i stayed in 4th and when 5km before stopping and i could go under 1500rpm, down too like 500rpm but i came to a compleate stop and held the clutch in so as not too stall and it jumped up again!!!!!!!!!! (nothing mechanical is stuck if i can get under the 1500rpm while driving :S ) I got home in the garage turned my headlights off when it was stopped in there and was doing 1500rpm and soon as they went off it went to 700rpm. Electrical problem most likely seeing as i could go to 500rpm while driving if i slowed right down in 4th....... i dont know where to begin looking on the r33.....
  15. haha yeah man my teacher is like well seeing as you just relate the whole Design and technology questions that we do to cars do your major as a car thing so i did this. Umm it doesnt work but i have a fan that fits in the intercooler piping so i might do it when i get it back from the markers........the pod had to go on there so it could have a car theme lol its the lightest thign i could think of.
  16. i bet you its the HDMI cable. Just take it to a shop and ask them if they would plug it in for you, they did it for me and the cable was broken from new and appearently they get 1 in 5 back.
  17. This is the case i built for design and technology. Its changed heaps from this: I preped sprayed. Pretty much did everything to this case except the laser cutting. Everything else like the design and screen printing of my artwork and measurements were all done by me but i just did a huge 80 page A3 folio so am not in the mood for talking about it, haha. Tell me if you like it or not... case: Custom Motherboard: MotherBoard Intel i7 ASUS P6T (X58/supporting Socket 1366/DDR3 2000/CF & SLi) CPU & CPU Cooler: Intel Core i7-920 (2.66 GHz/8M/D0/4.80 GT/45nm) LGA1366, CPU Cooler Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 (for i7) RAM: Desktop DDR3 Ram 6GB Kit (3x2048MB) PC12800 1600MHz G.Skill F3-12800CL8T-6GBPI 8-8-8-24 (i7 ready) Monito: None good enough at the moment Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 260 OC 896 MB HDD(s): 1 TB Seagate OS Used: Windows 7 Peripherals: G19 logitech (eg) Keyboard, Mouse
  18. i guess everyone has pinpointed it for you. You will find Newcastle and the central coast police have a fedish for p platers with imports It all comes down to where you live after all i have been pulled over 3 times in 1 week once, i get on average 1 cop every 2 weeks on the central coast. A cop the other day in a green highway patrol car pointed at me (WAS WEIRD, i was pulling waiting at a T intersection, i just gave him the weird eye and drove off). My car has a stock body kit on it aswell with 17" rims that are a black and red mesh design. It looks good but not riced. I have not been fined and every time they check my car and walk away saying its fine. Drive safe, keep your car clean ie. dont rice it up or bodge jobs, dont drink drive, obey all laws on the street and be nice to the cops.
  19. a straight pipe from behind the cat with a 5" tip muffler ...... yeah that's pretty loud! The police will hunt you for that.
  20. i had bad fuel economy, i was getting like 300km to my 65L tank....then i built a new engine and im getting 450km around 80km zones and less (central coast driving). On the highway to Newcastle i put like $20 in (i use Vortex as my fuel) and it took me there and back so im getting about 600km to the tank on the highway. I guess you will have to write a list of everything you change when you build a new engine because there are many possibilities, my GTS-4 is a 1995 model so its 14 years old and my injectors were pretty clean but the plastic clips on them were starting to decompose..........good luck finding the faults.
  21. If you want to make them look amazing get glassylite, its about $40 www.ebay.com.au You get some sandpapper 2000grit and 4000grit, a polish, some papper towels and this little bottle with about 4ml of somthing called nano sealant. Its got instructions and stuff and it a easy job. Took me 40min for both lights and they came out exactly the same as stock lights, just rips all oxidization and the rest off and the nano sealant unlike other techniques to clean lights, set on the lens as a protectant for 3 years. Probably best get that if you want to clean them like crazy.
  22. ill get a list of whiteline swaybars and links (price and part numbers) TEIN springs and KingSprings (price and part numbers) Supercheap have a crap selction of shocks since whiteline discontinued the r33 shocks so i can get you a quote on (price and part numbers) Ill list all the part numbers and see who is the cheapest suppliers and postage is $8.95. It wont get me introuble this way because im only giving you the cheapest price not the usual price or the (against company Policy) cost price way.
  23. recommend DKNE extractor or coby (Depending on budget, DKNE suit and are a better build but cost $150 more) Custom front pipe Custom high flow cat Kakimoto Type R exhaust system (They came out with a 70mm system for NA r33's about a year ago and its a really good note and legal) And there you go, a brand new system.
  24. R32's are not all the same. If you got the water pump from a R32 GTR that would be ok the rest are slightly different. The R33 and R34 are the same water pumps, Doesnt matter if it comes from a NA or a R34 GTR it will still be exactly the same. Also stagea's have the same water pump. The N1 GTR blocks have a modified water pump which flows better and that fits the block, bit of a rip for $450 though.
  25. more info? When its cold my line starts up on 1200 and drops to 700 once warm its just the 'choke' mechanism. If it happens when its cold and only cold then its to do with the tuning or an electrical fault If it happens cold or warm then it can also be mechanical.
