  1. its finally done now, some 50thou pistons sitting in my block and all my reconditioning done. ill be putting extractors and some other bits on and making sure it "purrring" good i am told, geez my uncle sure does like this car truthfuly he said most difficult car ever just because its a gts-4. the invoice i have up is how much it cost which is good and he did the best ive seen and i dunno if its just because hes my uncles mate but hes a good mechanic, especially sourcing those sets of pistons the bill is pretty good seeing as the work this engine needed after the bottom end was warped. everyone post up about prices and such and in a week or two ill try get my car together in the spare time and get photos on here of the build and finished project to come. worst bit is i am doing all the labor here to save money but lose time. con is my uncles name and its in running writing so its hard to see, its $1904 original price of pistons were $1400 alone but were found reduced from Nissan
  2. mmm yum-eh, yeah i didnt look at the picture in detail but if you have red GT badges thats turbo spec and blue for NA, i gathered the word badges on this post was the GT ones.... series 2 also gts-4 and a SUNROOF!!! thats a good combo. Not a fan of sunroofs but who cares because its a cruse mobile yeah 70,000km just seams to good to be true these days, mine was 170,000km and it had been wound back sooo much. so much the engine broke. my interior was perfect too!! so its a hard pick a good engine but you have such a clean looker there CONGRATS on it and start your posts on SAU P.S. i got my bill for my engine rebuild everyone ill post it up on my thread
  3. haha four seasons glow in the dark tube is the burnout oil id say to be good
  4. i got a gts-4 so i wouldnt go through tires, it still does burnouts ( last time i check it was no smoke because it was wet but it held it for 5 seconds and i had rubber on my guards and dont forget im Mr effed engine here. I want to see what it can do with 50thou pistons in it ) P.S. i did do this on my property which is all uphill in the wet but its a gts-4 so thats really good for it ) also you cant do burnouts in rental cars. They are modified to not do a burnout and ive had a go in a xr6 NA which can do it and the hire one didnt just like every other car
  5. seriously its going to be the clutch or gearbox. THE SOUND IS A DEAD BEARING!!!!!!! thrust bearing probity auto or manual i guess its got to be the same component, that is if were are getting that noise that we all say we have. someone take phone and record it. my car has no engine in it at the moment because of mods so i cant
  6. changing the clutch and all components of the clutch soon (after my 50thou rebuild is back together in a week ) so ill soon be able to see if it helped me or if its a problem that nothing to do with manual and auto differences. it might be the cat r the muffler because there relatively close to the gearbox to be mistaken because its just a crazy noise =\
  7. ........its not a belt problem its a power steering problem. i couldnt say what it is because i cant play with the car but it would be the pump or even simple as power steering fluid the screech and then chirp makes me think its your pump and therefor the belt slips for a second tricking you into it being a belt
  8. mines doing the same aswell and its a r33 like all of you, i sware it comes from the gear box........ i think it is bearings somewhere that are worn down? the sound and where its coming from sounds like a bearing, are all of you getting the same rattle from the gearbox thats really deep at 1500rpm and once it hits 2000rpm its more of a quiet tin rattling sound then stops after 2000rpm. anyone confirm that they think its bearings now
  9. you have a non turbo skyline. four doors can have 5 stud, its all non turbo's that have that feature. Your car is a gts-4 so your brakes are defiantly different and when you go to Autobahn there just going to think its the braking system for a gtst or gts. If you would like i could look up the part number on the work computer on saturday for bendix brake pads for a gts-4, i have one so i was going to look at the pads i need anyway as there going soon. do you have ABS you also be another question??
  10. none... the fact is what they cant see does not exist, keep your car stock looking in the engine bay because the only mods you can do (i mean get away with ) are internal because they would never look and cant see through a engine the only thing that would give it away is sound like lumpy cams and other parts that give distinct sounds when changed. keep that engine stock looking is all i can say if you dont want attention.
  11. when we get the pistons we have to see what they are like apparently they are CR 10:1 so we are not saying measurements at the moment, once thats finalized ill get all that sort or stuff up in this forum. i need a head gasket but..... now for all of you to send your advice and locations of head gaskets , im thinking of Cometic Head Gasket 1.3mm - ( what the bore size equals )
  12. yes as i thought series 2 is just some random tiny grille with the chrome 'S' so thats easy to put behind the only confusing thing is chrome 'S' with a grille red 'S' with a grille and its in a GTR style not the dead stocker grille with the chrome 'S' just confuses me where the red 'S' grilles came from as i usually know all the differences in the series from back to front, inside out
  13. serious? i know series 2 is chrome on the hood so if the red one is series one what is the chrome one on the grille with 3 bars running landscape??
  14. well to get the pistons as forged it was a lot of money that would not make a money to ratio match in power it was like $3200. (not worth the money) 40thou was big enough for the 25DE but again i was happy with the 50thou buy. My uncle will be boreing out my cylinders and all that as hes done lots for skylines so i have good trust in his years of experience that like he said "should be purring real nice soon" so basicaly you will be paying x3 more for forged pistons ive worked out.
  15. hey guys, i have a nismo grille and have taken that off and brought a series 1 grille with the chrome 'S' on it to badge it i know series 2 have the chrome grille on the hood but ive also seen a red 'S' badge on a grille not similar to the stock one but in its place, it looks like a gtr grille with out the badge and a red 'S' is i guess the way to describe it red__S_.htm
  16. yep i get free four day paddock passes so i figured i should use them but im only 17 so i cant stay in a hotel or camp ground without a adult so i went saturday at 3:30am!! with my mates dad. best stories on the way down about him being the guy who ordered and put the tires in the pits for the mark skafe r32. Hes head of Nissan mechanics now.....so he just gives heaps to my mate and me about seeing new cars and stuff everytime we talk cars. the drive down was short to it was only 2 and a half hours (almost no cars no red lights) from the coast but the trip back up was 4 hours. got some good video's of the race from my phone and it was only 10m away from the cars so the 2mega pix factor dosnt really mater. highlight of the day was the mini coupe with the roof but at the A pillars and pulled back to get a driver out it was extra mini
  17. they are made from the standard material and are $900au
  18. hmm seeing as i was just at bathurst i have this thing for coming into corners really fast anyway i would have to agree because i did wreak the other engine, not from speeding just my high rev addiction. news update on this, just ordered pistons from Nissan Japan 50thou!!!! will keep up to date when i receive these pistons because there is slight confusion, apparently they are r32 pistons but they typed my vin and chassie numbers in and its the ones recommended so its a gamble at the moment.
  19. i have the exact same car ....... and i couldnt tell you the answer haha its at supercheap auto on the Icat computers, ive seen it in bendix brake pads which i know people have grudges against supercheap but bendix are good. go there and ask if you cant get a answer andthe price for bendix are just under $70 or a set for rear or front, keep in mind it will probably be a special order. maybe suspension and brakes forums if you dont want to go there and want to sit down looking for it
  20. oh its mine i brought it from a auto skyline that had a hit. I sussed it out and the owner was old family man so i didnt see him going out and racing haha and he didnt cause the crash and i didnt need much from the engine just the internals that are the same as a mannual which is almost everything. i brought it opened it and its so new i dont need to change the bearings or anything, so what ever parts need changing in the good old gts-4 will be done. except for maybe the exception of ACL racing rings which my uncle is strongly recommending and i want ACL racing big end bearings........ as you can see im wanting to stay rb25 as well because the response would be nice, seeing as im getting stainless steel air intake to shove the old plastic one out the way because i think im going 80 or 90mm throttle body, i have those dkne extractors in my skylines back seat atm waiting to go in the engine bay before that air mod though and splitfire coilpacks and just changing every maintenance part there is from fuel filter to gaskets. i dont want to get a rb30 bottom end and addaptor plate and spend money on a engine that needs to be fitted in there when i can make minor power with a lot better response. turning into a what to do to my engine forum ayyyy only hopes for me are the pistons in japan or the rb30 pistons, fingers crossed
  21. ahh yes i found that out after seeing a lot of GTR's like this, although it would be good power being a everyday driver i think i have to keep my response in mind. Price wise i have a few rb30's lying around in my uncles workshop some in tiptop condition so it would only be adapter costs. ive even got a bottom end from a 25 thats only done 40,000km so im really set on looking into the rb30 pistons tomorrow morning so many options to choose from all at once, haahahaha
  22. GTS4WD i think you might be right im sure you can use the rb30 pistons or the rb25 pistons in a rb25/30 hybrid, so there im seeing them as a pistons for rb30's and rb25's am i not right?? anyone who can answer this with a first hand experience on the differences, it would be much appreciated. If so im going to get a good set of 87mm VL/r31 pistons and be very happy i have 12 rb25 pistons, and rods so im not short there we looked into a rb30 bottom end but it sits ontop of the 4wd drivetrain and such theres no way it wanted to fit in there because have one in the garage and its not the gts4 block shape thanks GTS4WD, ill get my uncle to play with the pistons and stuff and see if this option is the winner
  23. yeah so this was my plan C because the price is going to be really big probity. i can wait a month or two if no stock pistons or engines turn up then i might choose hand made. The only place i know of so far that make oversized pistons for it are Nissan but they only do it from japan and Nissan Australia will not order it for us. i have the part number for the pistons.
  24. ok yeah this might be a place for a wanted sales forum but i dont think it will be any use there seeing as ive been looking 3 months for a set of 87mm non turbo pistons. If anyone can help me with a few places to look at it would be so much help to a skyline thats been in a driveway for 3 months with no engine.......ANY HELP yes they need to be 87mm because i warped the bottom end (i dont know how but it isnt to but) the thing thats making me go 87mm is the scoare with the 5th cylinder, its so bad it looks like a 100 year old drain pipe, so yeah all cylinders need to be boared by 1mm now and i need help finding a set of pistons. PLAN B if anyone knows of a gts4 engine, its just been so long without my car ill just buy the engine and stick it in (bottom end only would be nice as i have a reconditioned top end now) yeah so its a bit complicated for a wanted forum seeing as these parts are not your everyday parts in japan even Cheers, Andrew
  25. ok s even if you do have that power its going to take a lot of money to make 60kw =\ if you want me to make it short and simple take your engine out and go find some 87mm pistons except i need them at the moment because my cars been off the road for almost 3 months =\ hmmmm trust me you will get over trying to make your NA have power, just go sex spec till you can have a turbo because you can pull sex spec off and stick it on the turbo car if its a gtst
