  1. should sit about 2/3 up and 1/3 is usually what it stays at for the first 5min in the morning, just because thats life and oil is thicker till the engine warms its self. what specifically did you want to know but? mobile 1 is good and so are iridiums, yeh being skylines they kill any spark plug faster than most cars so looks like we are spoiling our cars
  2. hmm thats the next oil for me for my manual gear box apparently its 3.8 liters but with the whole GTS4 thing i looked and there are about 3 topics on it in transmissions and they are all totaly different does anyone know what type of gear box i have? simple GTS one? and any stats on it if its not the simple GTS one? but being AWD i am pretty sure i have a transfer case.
  3. O ok i saw the nulon at the shop yesterday and it would have been my 2nd choice i picked redline because lots of turbos are using it and i was thinking being N/A it will be like giving it a treat and the best thing for it, the guy at burson said i should use fully synthetic for the engines life now because mineral mixtures wont do the job after fully synthetics???? yeh reading the label it last for 30,000km and can oil a jet turbine so im expecting my pistions to be 100% haha i also heard the RB30de/t jets blocked oil gallery's a lot so the oils there would be a fair bit of a important thinggg ??? anyways off to work now cheers, Andrew
  4. MELBOURNE — A-car Accessories Contact Name: Chris Phone: 03 9639 8393 Fax: 03 9639 8016 Address: 231 Russell Street MELBOURNE, 3000, VIC Email: Pls phone Speciality: Red Line Oils & Autoparts Retailer Try there first people to look apparently its slightly cheaper if not you will find bursons stock a good range of redline. gts4 mayyybe a little different, mine is 3.8 if anything yours will be less but not by much only 200ml
  5. i had a look around and see a lot of oil forums but one on the N/A section and though i need to hear how everyones oil are going in there cars because there isnt anything new on engine oils here. i brought Red line 10w40 high performance, all synthetic oil apparently this does wonders brought it for the new engine going in with about 50000km on it spent $121 on 4.7liters because the bottles are in gallons (PFFH) haha whats eveyone elses view on these top oils like royal purple and bla bla elf and yeh all that? and what are hopeless fake oils?? cheers, Andrew
  6. thats ok there like a billion good threads her to conform on except i cant find anything about a gts4 gear box (manual) GRRRRRR need new oil for that
  7. spotted a r32 across from Narara train at the lights station 7:40ish i think you saw me mate
  8. yeh mate you cant expect the oil to just work straight away, all the guys say let it set for 500km and they say the long you drive the better the oil gets. cheers
  9. Sorry to hear that but good to be comp insured i guess because thats a fair bit of a hit you had. i was driving the other day in the wet! let me say my tyres cost more than my rims =\ and i sliped out at the back doin about 10km/h i was turning right at a T-intersection and it sliped up hill as i was making the turn doin 10km/h i own a gts4 so im AWD and i sliped so comes to show anyting will in the wet. after i was bored spo i walked to where i lost the back (it was about 600meters away from home) and saw on the slope of the road in the rain the roads are so sh!t that its making a mini waterfall of water, think the goverment should have built better roads. i guess anyone on a sloped road keep this in mind because it was way in the back of my head before i checked it out cheers, Andrew
  10. R338OY is right about the oils the make of the oil is called redline lightweight shockproof the grade is up to you depending on the crunch, when you go to the place take a look at the grades they sell in that type of redline try somthing close to a 80w-90 as i see a lot of skyline guys using that grade. Remember winter is coming up too and the crunch may seem worse so give the gearbox about 500-1000km to get the oil through its system (ive read on the forums the guys say the any gearbox oil needs to coat it for a bit) around what area are you in? im on the central coast N.S.W and i guy mine from Bursons automotive again prices range and i see it inbetween $25 and $33 per liter i dont know how to fill the gts people say pour it down the shifter and others say that dosnt go to your gearbox so look into that. i have a gts4 so i have to use a handpump to put my gearbox oil in cheers, Andrew
  11. HAHAHA woops i was doing a reply to a oil change on a engine at the same time. So your post is on the engine one HAHAHA ill post it now:). - yeh its 3.8 liters and light weight synthetic from redline is the best gearbox oil because its more technical than a shell or castrol with the nulon adjective go redline or your syncro's will get crushed fairly easy with other brands cheers for the oil filter in the gearbox HAHA ,Andrew
  12. i have the same problem to i did i compression test at a workshop and my 5th piston was down 50% to the factory settings. so i brought a new bottom end with 40,000km on it and it looks like im going to have fun yeh agreed with the people saying check your plugs to see how blackened they are then a compression test if they are fairly black. cheers, Andrew
  13. Redline MT90!!!!!! i remember now no need for cross reference
  14. Shell Spirax CX 80w-90 is recommended (by nissan and they recomended it 15 years ag for r33's so do not use is same for castrol with the nulon adjective is not good its not capable of the gearboxes needs the syncro's with get crused cross reference this with a redline oil and its a smoother oil and you will thank yourself for paying a little bit more
  15. 3.8 is correct without a oil filter 4.2 is with a oil filter 100% sure on this mate there is a few forum lying around on it glad its redline aswell what weight are you using?
  16. haha just remember the plug and the "black pipe thing" known as the AFM [air flow meter] is a must you cant get rid of one but changing is ok i guess but it wont do anything good for your car unless you do the whole intake to eat more air then you need more fuel when you pull the plug out the car dosnt know hoe much air is being taken in thats why it dies because the ECU dosnt get the messages other than that the pod filter question once you do it the first time you will be able to change them in 10min after that you will get it wing nuts are the best to screw it to your AFM thats all you really need to do (and put the gasket inbetween)
  17. it could just be the belts dont have a lubricated surface so they squeal supercheap auto have a green spray can and you spray it on the belts and it will lube them to stop the squeal thats all i can think it being =\ worth spraying them i guess
  18. agreed with a lot of things on the topic holden or fords or what ever we shouldn't judge the guys because on the road its there cars doing the talking for them and when they get out the cars and you have a talk to them its great you learn more and talk about two totally different cars, and he they are human. i guess th police and news will never understand crashes have to happen and thats life its inevitable to stop these things ever. The news and police give us the label as "hoon" and dont even look around to see the amount of high performance car drivers that care about these things and all they do is make stories more dramatic. "everyone should be a hoon because everyone breaks rules and goes over limits regardless the intensity of the crime" all it is, is a sterotype to give us a bad name send my condolences, Andrew
  19. dont worry sounds the same as mine all i need is a wheel balance and alignments those are what i have been told it is (professional mechanic guy for rims and alignments and balancing drove it and its been conformed) so id say 99.9% sure
  20. i am having EXACTLY the same problem inbetween 1000-2000rpm so pretty much 1st and 2nd gear im taking it to my uncle this weekend and he will sort this out and if this post is still up and has not been sorted. ill do i write up of what was needed because im 100% sure or gearboxes are in the same condition by the sounds of it (i have not changed the gearbox oil from the previous owner because i have not been driving it much only like 800km in 3 months so im worried about the condition of it) and i work at supercheap because im only 17 and at school so its all i can do for now and im telling you do not get vmx80 the syncro's will get crushed with that oil (im not one of those yeh 10w-60 oil is good for your engine supercheap guys ) the oil is not well enough designed to cope with the gearbox redline is safe because its a well tested product and obviously passed ........ special for the price its at =\ cheers, Andrew
  21. spotted Sn-33-ze aka Andrew and stuck my finger up to get you back from last time ... but you didnt even see me and there was a black 32 infront of you
