  3. I think what might of happened is; * you didnt see the motorbike and almost ran him over in merging so he booked you * you didnt see the motorbike and he didnt see you turn your head, so he booked you anyway for failure to merge safely * you merged, he wanted to talk to someone cause he is lonely on the bike, gave you a ticket in the process
  4. I drive along there every day... You must have got a copper on a bad day, as merging is a bit of give and take when there is heavy traffic around...

  18. doppler is used in the majority of patrol cars in qld, its questionable in a moving vehicle... glass, reflective surfaces and sun light can mess with doppler... lidar is only found in the highway patrol and brand new qld cop cars, its very accurate and almost impossible to question accuracy... fixed speed cameras and mobile units use a "version" of lidar... * I say version, as its quite different to normal lidar... You wont find info on google, its closely kept info I don't even know myself... I think your on the right path, admit the guilt and then accept the penalty and then ask for a work license. Probably your best bet as driving again. yeah as above, but that's only my opinion... The solicitor will know best in his case tho... Its not new, its quite old actually... Since cameras were introduced the technology has changed about 6 times... Currently QLD use two types, however they are slowly changing to just the one... I cant answer all your questions, I only work within a certain part of the camera system (focusing, image production and image storage)... Essentially the camera itself not all the systems around the camera, I just get the info from the unit technicians on the various other parts and how it all works... There is Meta data sorted with every photo about which focusing area was used in the production of the photo... How that comes about I cannot give you info, the software written to run the camera is reasonably confidential... I need to be careful about info given, its not my place to tell eveyone how it works... I can only simplify how it works and explain how hard it would be to beat the facts... Yeah so you fall under the repeat offender system (QLD only). So because you have had a similar charge within the past 2 years you get double points for the most recent charge. You really need to just contact a solicitor, your chances of getting a work license are not affected however as DUI is not a part of your problem. Work license can be granted to just about anyone if they need it to remain employed. That said if you need car storage I have a 3rd built in (and monitored alarm/video) garage space free and available to help, Id love to look at a R35 every morning when I jump into the gold cloud (Lexus)... Just have to push the bikes out to the titan out the back...
  19. So just to clarify for everyone, I noticed a few people mentioned this in one way or another... I work with speed cameras as a part of my job as they use a fair bit of technology from the firm I work for. In short, the laser scans on a level. Similar to a dumpy level (tradies will know what that is). However this only indicated a range & an est speed. The computer than goes to set the dumpy (styled) laser on the vechicle suspected of speeding. It can manage up to 6 lanes at a time with a 150m head. (Meaning 150m clear unobstructed view of the 6 lanes). The less the clearance distance the less lanes it can cover. Now, the laser is then fixed on the suspected speeding vechicle and a range in metres is recorded, then (depending on setup) a timed amount a 2nd range is recorded. Simple maths then records the speed and it is rounded down to the nearest km/h. What you dont see in your photo is the car being targeted, however this information is recorded. Think like a DSLR, when you focus to take a photo is indicated a priority focus point. Entry level SLR's have 7 to 9 points. Speed cameras have closer to 54 focusing points. If you go down the path of blaming the ute in the photo it will get dismissed straight away, you will be seen to be clutching at straws to get out of the fine. Therefore any additional attempts to dodge the fine here after will probably fall on deaf ears. With that explained, id avoid trying this method completely. Biggest problems with speed camera threads is everyone seems to know something about them, but very few actually work on them or in the industry. The best bit of advice here is to contact a solicitor whom specializes in this sort of thing and disclose them the full truth and let them give you the right advice. In all honesty the best you could do is prove the camera was not calibrated that day. But chances of it not being down as per the legislation are slim.
  20. I used the sandwich toaster to do hash browns before at the office... Works great on "contact grill" setting... took about 4 minutes from frozen solid...
  21. let me save you the test drive, just do it... you will go and jizz your pants and then you'll be off to start the next upgrades... I used to run 17psi @ 270rwkw & 21psi for 300rwkw on a standard head and there was a big difference even between those figures... It was the difference in lighting up the tyres sooner...
