They are a half scale car powered by a motorcycle engine and transmission (geared to the changes)... Yes its door to door racing, more touch's than the utes most sessions... Its tight and particularly scary in a concrete jungle... It has become very popular with up to 40 cars on track at once, it costs a 1/10 what a supercar costs to own and run... Morning mangs.... Today I have nothing to do until 1pm... My arms are still killing me, I feel like I went 3 rounds with a bear in the jungle...

Wow, well an update; That debriefing session was massive (4 hours)... I thought I went alright based on how many cars I over took, however my time needs much improvement to get anywhere near the front... I set the forth fastest lap of the day, but only did it once... I need to be more consistent to get up near the front... Most of my laps were 3 or more seconds off the front runners, only pulled 2 laps close to the front runners consistent times... I also torched the car pretty bad apparently, tires wreaked, steering arm bent, rev'ed the engine way too hard and was un-kind on the brakes... Today shows me that racing is not all about smashing every bit of HP out but more about technique and driving lines... As I said I have much to learn... Driving into those blind corners is scary, very scary actually... All you see is a concrete wall and you know what the corn looks like on the other side but then there is 6 or 7 other cars around you... Popping exhausts & skidding the wheels under brakes across the shiny surface... Its hard work too, my arms, hips & neck are so sore... The experience is priceless and im loving it but its taken more than I expected... Aussie race cars were described to me as a fast go-kart, im yet to put words together that describes it accurately... PS> Having a ball tho With about 70k for a season... Or get sponsorship and make someone else pay the 70k per season... I got a ride at QR through a mate, they liked my lap times and were desperate for a driver for two rounds this season... My story i a bit different... I will most likely never drive again after this weekend, it was more about right place right time for me... The regular driver will be back next round to take his spot back...

Well Ive just come off the track, in a good way (via pit lane)... PS> This circuit makes my bunghole shrink rapidly coming into the corners... We are now got a hour to relax and eat before the debriefing and timing sheets come out... Im starving just wanted to log on to update fb... Ummmm not sure... I know they big into circuit racing, ill ask...

Yarp... V8's are on this weekend and its a street circuit... I have a Cams license and a mate of mine is a engineer for one of the top V8 teams... He pointed me in the direction of "Prodrive" which is the company behind the FPR V8 team... They also put allot into the aussie race cars... Anyway my lap times in practice at QR the other month were enough to impress a few so they invited me to drive their car in Townsville... As its my first time around this closed street circuit I have to do a full days training before driving on this track... We are limited in the aussie racecars to 200 hence my comment... I really have no idea how fast this track is, until this afternoon I really wont know... QR is very different to a concrete jungle like the gold coast & townsville...

morning spam from townsville first day of learning how to drive a race car on a race track... by this afternoon ill be doing 200kph in a 60 zone legally... this morning first session, breakfast... no shit... they said you cant drive or learn on an empty stomach so they have bacon and eggs for us cooked by Frostie & Whincup...

Thats better... Mt Mee will be faster than the highway due to traffic differences anyway... Mt Mee is always quiet... I wont be there anyway so go what ever way you want... Im just saying Mt Mee is where most of the fun is on that run... I'll be in Townsville learning how to drive an aussie race car... Some say Dan decided the engine was too good and put it in his ride on lawnmower instead... others think he prefers a 2JZ for his garden maintenance... All we know is he is the Shrek...

skip the boring highway bit... Go from Aspley up through Petrie, head to Dayboro and then over Mt Mee... This will bring you out at Woodford... This way you skip all the boring highway bits and Mt Mee is an awesome ride/drive... As from Woodforf the rest is good stuff, out to Kilcoy down the back of sommerset and over Mt Glo & Nebo and home... Looks like my average northside Sunday ride...

Well there you go... Our garage is once again all Japanese... Lexus, S15, YZF-R1, GSX-R1000, ZX-10R & CBR-1000... Now just waiting on the S15 to be replaced with the Merc and zeee Germans will have to become allies with the Japs... Remember last time that happened...?
