there are allot of assumptions and generalisations in this thread... remember there is always two sides to a story, i heard today the driver of the car is wanted by the police for questioning about other "criminal" matters... so one might assume the attackers knew the victim in this particular case, and this was some form of payback or warning... never know...

Telstra is the only provider that has given me good coverage in regional QLD... As stated in the wasteland thread I found no other service out near Dalby or on the highway between Toowoomba and Warick other than Telstra... I get coverage all the way to Hervey Bay with my Telstra 3G work phone, yet my personal phone drops out everywhere...

Spotted a number of Skylines up over Mt mee and down through samford... Red R34 with a huge rear wing forgot the plates, but think there were something like RRR34 or similar... Also spotted Ad_N in his GTR, he looked straigt at me and i tipped my helmet in his direction but im sure he had no idea who it was... I was riding with a group of mates, I was on the bright green Ninja (the one in my avatar)... We stopped in that pub there on the corner for lunch which was over rated and a $2.60 can of coke... Then we got soaked to the bone coming in back through samsonvale and down through the back of Warner... Ended up having the front wheels skimming the surface through corners there was that much water on the road... Was surelly time to go home...

QLD transport can contact the owner of the plate for you... A mate owns the plates "ROYS" and Qld transport contacted him saying that someone wanted to buy the plates etc etc was he interested in selling them and if yes they would pass on the details of the buyer... But yeah you can ask qld transport to contact the current owner of the plates... On the other hand one side of me says, return the plates to where you bought them from and kick the seller in the back side for not informing you of this issue...

Quick get him, he drives an auto... Ummm, give me a go and ill tell ya... Nah seriouslly you can launch hard with autos... 1. Do a skid on the pad. *Cause is makes the tyres sticky *It gives you a good shot of adrenaline *Most importantlly it cleans the tyres 2. Stage the car using the stage lights 3. Apply the foot break with the left foot pretty hard 4. Start to put your right foot into the throttle *This will basiclly stall up the car and it will sit on netural boost and maby even start to build a little boost. *Use less throttle then for the skid otherwise your car may begin to skid 5. When the lights go green let your left foot off the brake and stab the right to the floor. 6. Cross the line and down shift and brake safelly Thats pretty much what I would do with and auto. If you find the rear wheels what to skid when your staged or you want to launch a bit harder, then maby try a bit of handbrake also to keep them still while your stalling up the car. It all depends on how much power your car has and what suspension/tyres you are using as to how the car will react on the line. But hey thats what test and tunes are about, go down the quarter 5 or 6 times trying different ways and see for yourself which is the fastest. There is probablly better advice on these forums than what i wrote above and if you want some great advice just pm "markr34gtr" as that is Mark Jacobson as in the owner and driver of the godzilla motorsports R32 GTR. He is one of the fastest GTR's in the world and has been down the q/mile more than the rest of the forum put together... Most importantlly have fun...

Sorry missed your point first time there Simon... Yeah if you crashed cause of a flash then maby you might have something to stand on as another driver whom was not speeding at the time... But remember they could charge you with "Driving with un-due care and attention" as a result of your admission of being distracted... I honestlly believe that they have most bases covered when it comes to this stuff, even if its unethical or emoral...

To add more info to this thread in hindsight; The plugs gap was half the issue and so was the heat range. But the biggest issue was old coil packs, not faulty but old. They still worked quite well at stock boost, but as the heat got into the coil packs under hard driving they started to fail and a light show occured under the bonnet (which was discovered on the dyno with the bonnet open and the lights out). So after investing in a set of splitfire coil packs I was able to re-gap the plugs to 1.1 mm and the car never ran better. In time I added a GT30 high mount and upwards of 21psi, the plugs and coil packs still performed as good at this level as at cruising speed under no pressure. Also the heat range has less to do with the problems discussed in this thread, gap and coil condition are bigger issues than heat range. I now believe in hindsight the following rule of thumb; Stock boost, heat range of 6, gap of 1.1mm if you have good coils. Stock boost, heat range of 6/7, gap of 0.8mm if you have old/semi faulty coils Stock boost, heat range of 5/6, gap 1.1mm if you have new/splitfire coils Up the boost 16+psi, heat range 5/6, gap 1.1mm if you have new/splitfire coils Up the boost 20+psi, heat range 5, gap 1.1mm if you have new/splitfire coils Up the boost 25+psi, heat range 5, gap 0.8mm if you have new/splitfire coils (You must have a set of good/new coils if you ever plan to run big boost, as saving money on good coils could cost an entire engine) Ps. Heat range will change depending on where you are in the world, average temps in Brisbane are hardlly ever lower than 10 in winter and hardlly ever higher than 40 in summer. Also different cars will act different way, depending on timing and ECU performance. So there are a few variables to consider when reading the above advice... Hope this helps... Hindsight is a wonderfull thing...

Do it, its soooooo much fun... Just remember to wear long sleeve shirt and long pants, have a helmet with an Aussie approval sticker and your set to go... Oh and turn off the A/C before you get to the line, cause if your dropping water they will make you go back to the end of the line... But apart from that, its awesome fun...

There probablly is a way out of most fines, but I guess it comes down to how much your willing to spend on legal costs to avoid a fine??? (ie. $5000 in court to escape a $250 fine) If you got plenty of points id suggest talking it on the chin and live to fight another day...
