  1. hey guys I was wondering if you can help. I'm gonna be upgrading to a garrett GT3076 in the near future. I also figured it would be a good idea to upgrade the intake plenum. At present I have a front entry modification on the original plenum but I want to do it alot tidier really. So... I'm looking for one of these plenums like the one in this thread: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-218189736.htm if anyone has anything like this they can do at a good price then I'm interested but just want to point out I'm in the UK so that will need to be taken into account on postage and the like. cheers for your help ant
  2. hey guys I'm based over in the uk - hope you dont mind me posting up on here some great work there from everyone - Whiplash I like your models - are they ingame resolution at all? You should post up some wireframes of them I've done a few models over time in the past 5-10 years. They're not the best models by a long shot but I do enjoy modelling cars when I get a bit of time, but mostly I'm focusing on animation and wotnot more than I used to. anyhow heres mine sorry if the images are large!... this is the first car model I actually ever built - it took about 12 weeks as I had no idea what I were doing to be fair lol! I used maya and mental ray. I then did this one whilst working on a movie in the uk. I then used this cosworth and skyline model and did a 3d animation of the two racing. This was whilst working 12 hours on a movie too lol! and about a year ago I did this one. I'm currently using this in a personal project/animation.
  3. hey guys okay I've done a bit of searching on here and it seems that the GT3076 is definitely the way to go for me! I've been pricing it up on tweakit.net and I have to say its alot cheaper than I thought it would be! Feel free to shoot me down/correct me here btw... I'm gonna get one with a .82 turbine housing as from what I've read on here that is closer to the original garrett spec, whereas the smaller housings were designed for 4 cyl engines? Dunno if I have that right but it seems like a good balance from what I've read. I'm gonna go for a stainless downpipe with the kit and I think this turbine from tweakit comes with internal wastegate is that right? I've read a few ppl have mixed thoughts on that vs external but I think internal would be best. feel free to correct me tho! overall the tweakit kit with stainless 5bolt flanged downpipe AND shipping comes to £1,350 - that is comically cheap for me over here! My only worry is if there would be extra pricing on top once it comes into the country - I dont have much experience at all of ordering from overseas but I'm happy to wait the 2 weeks it'll take to deliver. my engine is ready to take this - its a rebuilt RB25det with 87mm wiseco pistons, RB26 nur spec conrods, cometic head gasket and ARP head bolts. 550cc injectors. 32gtr clutch (aren't they easy on the foot lol!) and numerous other bits like oil reloc kit and 19row mocal oil cooler thermostat controlled. It has 60mm radiator and numerous other bits too like ARC fmic (huge thing!) so overall I think this car could handle the 500 I want to try and obtain. so sorry to hijack this thread guys but any thoughts would be fantastic - well impressed with tweakit.nets prices and I will almost certainly be running that route and putting up pictures once I get the kit and get it fitted! thanks ant uk
  4. Floyd/Wolverine - thanks for those links to the sites - they're really good! The ATP turbo one is excellent - it even has pictures to show the different flange types on all the turbo components - makes picking it a bit more confusing but it gives me a better understanding of what to chase up too. Good prices too esp. with the exchange rate altho I wish that rate was what it was a year or two back lol! Worp3d - thanks for your help too - btw that avatar is inspired! SS#eater - looking forward to seeing the updates on your car - this is a really tidy build and I hope I can get mine to a similar level. I'm aiming for 450-500bhp maximum and if I get that I would be well pleased with it.
  5. wolverine - thanks again - how can I tell if it is a garrett housing - is it literally stamped with garrett? I'm guessing the nissan/shoehorned would have nissan on it if it was the lesser version? downpipe - are there specific types that mate up with the gt3076 and onto the other side of your exhaust easily? clutch is never pushed hard - I dont even launch hard as I believe this is worst way to kill a clutch but if it gave out I'd upgrade happily anyways. not a tough job to put another in anyways. even lifted out the gearbox on my own shoulder lol! good stuff about the injectors n nistune - I can get rsp to do the remap/retune again worp3d - I dont know too much about what he's done in the past but I do know the guys level of knowledge at rsp is amazing and they're a really friendly bunch
  6. hi Wolverine thanks for your answers The Z32 is already under my car and my oem ecu is mapped to use it - the tuner used Nistune and was at Rising Sun Performance in the uk (dunno if you guys have heard of them over there?) Anyhow I'm pretty sure he'd be able to map the car using the bigger gt3076 so I'm guessing the standard downpipe is enough for the turbo to work with and is a direct fit is that correct, or will that need uprating too? I have been told I will need to uprate the injectors - at present I'm running Daetchwerx 550cc injectors which I'm sure (at a push) will run 500bhp or in that higher 400 range certainly which would be enugh for me. I have also been told my gtr clutch would need uprating. Any of you guys confirm that stuff?
  7. hi there my name is anthony and I am a member of skylineowners.com in the uk. I have a fairly grunty Rb25det at the moment - it has a fully forged engine but the turbo isn't the punchiest - its a td05 18g and it only makes a total of about 380bhp. Its currently making a smooth 340bhp but I have been looking to get 500bhp if possible. However I wasn't sure what to look for and have just found your thread on fitting the gt3076 which looks perfect and proper beefy under the hood lol! I fancy having a go at this myself but I have some questions. 1 Can you but the 10mm spacer flange to get the turbo away from the manifold? I saw that you cut your own but I dont have any facilities to do that 2 Would I need one with an internal wastegate penny as I've seen a couple for sale that dont have that! 3 Do I need a gt3076 with a T4 flange or a T3 one? I'm a little lost with that stuff 4 I have a Z32 afm - is it much fuss to fit between the induction filter and the pipework? I found this turbo on ebay from perth australia which I've been considering - is this what I would be after? item number: 170313773271 sorry for all the pestering questions but I would really like to hit the 500bhp mark and I know the engine would happily take it (wiseco 87mm pistons, rb26 nur spec conrods, arp head bolts and numerous other goodies). not many people have fitted one of these over here in the uk but I'd like to have a go ta ant
  8. thanks motoman I'll amend my tut to include that have to say at first I did think my filler plug weren't budging but it was just the glue/sealant around the thread. I was more worried at the very very loose gearbox drain plug!!
  9. hey guys changed my gearbox oil this wkend - seems to have made a nice difference especially gear changes higher up the rev range (ie: when booting it). Heres the link on my site below... anthonymcgrath.co.uk - changing your gearbox oil
  10. yeah the hot water trick works miracles on all kinds of things hahaha! I'd never tried it before and it just kinda popped in my head - didn't think it'd make the job that much easier lol!
  11. cheers ppl - glad I could help just got me oils (silkolene silktran) for my gearbox so gonna be writing up some notes on that this wkend, taking some pics n doc'in the whole process - wish me luck lol!
  12. just an update for you all here - apparently the last post about removing the glove box and injecting in some expanding foam stuff seems to have worked out well. Take a look over Mava's thread again and see what you think.
  13. hi guys again, not the most complex of tasks but I took some pics and wanted to share them with you all installing coilpacks
  14. hi everyone, I know its not the most complex of tasks but its amazing how many ppl in the uk ask this one so I wrote up a tutorial and thought I'd post it up on here too (with your permission) http://www.anthonymcgrath.co.uk/gtroc/fuelfilter.htm
  15. did this myself - worked a treat
  16. hey chaps. I'm looking to upgrade my tubby to something beyond the stock ceramic one - ideally anything that'll run more than one bar. what is a good turbo to look out for for my car? I've only got stg1 mods so: hks pod filter exhaust decat trust turbo downpipe any thoughts? ta ant newcastle uk
  17. hi everyone I wouldn't mind getting a spare o2 sensor for my R33gtst - ideally a new one too. however trying to get one of these in the uk is a mare can anyone on here give me a costing or knows a place to buy one overseas? cheers anthony newcastle uk
  18. completely agree - I'm the same - before I turn around I'm like "that'll be a skyline" to me mates hehe. a skyline with a good back box has such a deep burble on idle and a solid roar on gas ...as I'm sure you all know
  19. cheers guys - maybe best to just pick up another good gtst out there and strip my own car back to stock like you said. I can always start again I suppose. didn't realise shipping a car is so darn costly!
  20. -cheers I thought it sounded a bit whinier - at first it was a little irritating but I've grown to ignore it - just turn music up a little Mark, I fitted one as I were told it would certainly help when it comes to remap/pfc time this wkend coming (woohoo!) ..I'm not sure what power they can supply but it cant be worse than the last one. The thing I have noticed is that the car certainly boosts alot better than it did previously - it did nowt but hesitate when I floored it but it seems really strong now right thru the rev range - theres still a bit of hesitation (need to gap plugs to 0.8mm) but its definitely improved the car
  21. fitted gtr fuel pump over wkend (well a mate did and I looked on!) ...it didn't quite fit the bracket but its nowt a couple of thick cable ties didn't sort out to hold it in place. The pump is working fine and the car feels a bit more responsive too but the pump seems to sound a little more whiny - its more evident when in the car than outside it strangely. Has anyone else fitted a gtr fuel pump and can they vouch for it being a little louder? ta ant newc uk
  22. cheers akeenan & MK2 - yeah I guess it prob would cost the same to import it as what I'd lose but its just a very VERY good condition motor. Can anyone provide any up to date knowledge on this topic? I could get another motor whilst over there and use it as a runabout so I'd be happy to wait on the shipping time. getting a new PFC fitted the car soon so it should put it at stage1 and the boost could easily be set to default by saving off the PFC remap and uploading the base map to the car which should reset the boost. Taking exhaust/induction and decat out wouldn't be a bother either. this is just my understanding of the mods I've done on it but after that it could be shipped over couldn't it? you prob all think I'm mad but I doubt I'd find one is as good condition and certainly couldn't get the cash back I've put into it as everyone wants a gtr here in the uk now (dunno why with the bloody fuel costs!)
  23. hi everyone I've got interviews this coming week with a couple of games companies - they're quite interested in me. If I were to be accepted for a job in oz/nz and I wanted to take my car over can anyone tell me what would be involved in shipping it over? i'm gonna get a heap of "sell it and get a gtr" but I like my gtst its fast enough and I can get under the engine to simple things like an oil filter What I'd like to know is can anyone tell me how long it would take to get over there, what it would cost, what to look out for - do they allow modified motors (mines at stage1 once pfc goes in at end of this month) I could sell it but I'd end up out of pocket by about £1000 and I've worked hard to get it tricked up to a good driveable motor. any info appreciated heres hoping! ant newcastle uk
  24. yep a good hks pod filter will make a sweet sucking sound/fighter jet sound on a standard gtst when it comes on boost - when your on boost and you ease off the gas it makes a lush pphhhtttssshhhhh sound which you can control depending on how quick you take your foot off the gas. My friends gtst is running at 1.4bar of boost on a hybrid and his sounds even beefier - mine is more like a high pitched hissing... his is like a really bassed up hiss as its just pulling so much more air in. pod filters dont give a massive performance gain but they certainly sound mint hey Rolls: so blocking off the standard Bov will create turbo chatter is that right? Is there a link on here to a more in depth talk about it? ta ant newcastle uk
