  1. I tried that but half my crap is on the driveway.
  2. Yep cool, it definitely looks scary on Youtube
  3. Oh, I meant more about the internals if I was going to put a quaife in or similar. Thanks for this, I'll reach out and get some figures. I do think its going to be damn pricey though.
  4. Could still be wheel bearings. Or a diff? Dunno if that's a whistle, probably more a whir. Sounds like the rear is unrelated? Hard to diagnose anything with the amount of info though. YOu could get under the back and just check everything is tight ?
  5. The 'ol single spinner ain't gonna be fun much longer as I start to add a bit of power. I haven't hit the track in the 335 but I did a few in the 330 and even with a lot less power the need for an LSD was there. I'm throwing around some options, all of which are out of my price range atm (a fair few maintenance items to do first). Quaife is up there but there is a mob in the states that have a helical LSD shipped to me for around $1300 USD which seems reasonable. A few guys are going 8.8" ford but I don't want to have to deal with modified housings or shafts or anything. Makes life difficult in the future. Ultimately I'd love a BMW LSD that would just be a straight swap but they rarely come up. Do I need to get these installed with some kind of specialist diff mob? Its definitely not something I'd try on my own. Thanks guys.
  6. Might be worth just starting with some basic measurements of the mounts and caliper height. I don't recall ever seeing the brakes swapped out before. I believe S14, R32 and Z32 all use the same mount (But I could definitely be wrong). If you can't find any other help, maybe see if you can find some measurements of these calipers to see how different an adapter would be? Good luck, keep us updated.
  7. Nice one. Make sure you start a build thread, I know there'll be lots of people keen to follow on. Welcome!
  8. Yep, this was confidence inspiring I knew if I stuffed it up I'm only $200 away from a fresh one.
  9. Love your work guys thanks. @Duncani was going to wiggle the wheel that was my next test.
  10. I'm trying to prep the dirty 30 (330i) for sale. One issue I have is that the car becomes deafening at around 60 - 70kph. The noise is definitely wheel speed related rather than revs. It sounds like loud-tyre noise but amplified 10 times. There doesn't seem to be grinding or metal-on-metal etc. I've done the diff fluid on this car about 12 months ago. I believe the noise was occuring then also. Made no difference. I'm leaning toward bad bearing (passenger side done last year) but I've never heard of them being *this* loud. You honestly can't have a conversation. Any ideas? Thanks guys.
  11. I had a big dent on the boot. I'd already decided to either get a new boot lid or even just a small lip wing that would go over the dent so I figured i'd try to fix it myself. Before; So, I attacked it with a slide hammer, some glue and a microfibre-wrapped hammer. Gotta say, I was pretty impressed. Its not perfect but I don't hate looking at it now.
  12. You're not the only one in this boat. 🙄
  13. Found a rare moment of motivation and energy on the weekend. Drained the power steering reservoir and replaced it. The reservoir contains a non servicable filter and who knows how old it is. New genuine reservoir and then flushed contents 4 or 5 times with Liqui Moly CHF11S. Steering was a touch heavy and occasionally clicky, the fluid that came out was a bit nasty and while steering is still heavy (compared to the 330i), its no longer clicking. Also, as all the front and rear windscreen seals are shot, I got to removing the old ones and managed to fit the new rear upper. I need to source a new front lower seal but I'm getting a new windshield in next week due to a crack so I'll do front after that. New upper rear looks so nice. I checked the brake fluid and found there is so much sediment in there. I actually bought a front pair of 335i calipers to put on the 330i but never used them. I'm going to clean them up and paint them silver, I'll do the seals in them while they're out and then when I fit them I'll put in the HEL braided lines I've got and flush all the brake fluid. I'll try to source some nice pads and DBA T2's in the meantime so I can just get all the brakes done in one go.
  14. Sorted out my horrible headlights. It's worth mentioning that the Mother's plastic polish was absolute crap. Once I switched to Meguiar's plastix it was so much better and easier to use. I think I'll eventually clear coat them for better longevity.
  15. Car looks great! Whens the tune coming?
  16. Yeah the other option to driling out and replacing the bushings is to adjust the wastegate actuator arm, basically you make it longer and it pushes the flap shut. The good news is that its just a noise atm and even then only at cold start. I dont really need to think about fixing the turbos just yet. Oh, the tune I'm considering from MHD has a rattle eliminator. It basically changes how the arm from wastegate works but comes at the cost of more lag. I dont fully understand but might be a bandaid until I need to change them.
  17. I was just watching a dude on YouTube putting together his Lamborghini V12 in the uk and complained about 30 pounds for a single injector. 🤣
  18. Yeh there are a few yank sites that sell them for half of BMW Australia (even with exchange and shipping). So I at least know where to turn if I need to later.
  19. I did the one thing that I needed to feel less stressed in the car yesterday. Replaced the thermostat and housing (which was a bastard as it sits right at the bottom of the engine but just above the sub-frame and has 4 big hoses attached) and also the Mickey mouse flange. Then flushed all the green stuff out and filled up with fresh BMW coolant. The Mickey mouse flange was intact thankfully but fell apart as I pulled it out so good to get it done. I also replaced my charge pipe as the OEM one is plastic and prone to cracking after a while. A few good steps towards better longevity as the whole cooling system is now new (rad was done a year or so ago by previous owner) and all the hoses seem nice and fresh.
  20. Quick update, I reached out to my parts guy at local BMW dealer (he and I have gotten very friendly over the years). Injectors are $1k ea and HPFP is $2k. Lets hope I'm ok for a while.
  21. I have index 9 injectors which means they're not the latest but have likely been updated by a previous owner as I believe my car came with index 6's from factory. I believe there was a recall for this problem. Wastegate rattle is affecting my car but no boost leaks. Yet. I'm definitely looking to get all the bits done that need doing before I start putting money towards making it a little quicker. It hardly gets driven as it is with 2 x sub 5k trips since Sunday . As stated, all the main problems with these cars have been researched and sorted with solid replacements now available. Worst part about buying a used car is not knowing what has been fixed / replaced or not. I have a new power steering reservoir and the aluminium charge pipe to fix today or tomorrow to check off a few more maintenance / pre-problem items. After that, maybe this weekend, I have new thermostat & housing, mickey mouse flange and fresh BMW coolant to go in. Radiator was done a few years ago ( I have a receipt) and the water pump was done last month. That should make the cooling system rock solid for another few years at least. For those unaware of the mickey mouse flange it attaches the cooling system hose to the block. But, alas, its made of plastic and completely disintegrates over time. The one on my 330i quite literally fell apart in my hands as I was replacing it. I have a billet replacement. Check this for an example;
  22. The 'wang (Hafei Xiaobawang) was released 15 years ago and I'm not sure it's aged quite as well.
  23. Yeah definitely will keep it updated. I've not done much lately but I have a heap of parts (mainly maintenance) to go on. I'll get the GoPro out and do a video of it shifting, it really is amazing and not sure I could live without it now. Wow, seriously? The Ultimates were awesome on the 330i at Wakefield. No fade at all. I didn't realise they were not trusted. Oh please. Properly maintained N-gines are fine. Another Bendix hater. I didn't know that was a thing. Whats the alternative? I know most people will say different pads for street and track but thats not going to happen. YellowStuff? And I agree with you on the engines (obvs) - well maintained and they do very well. My water pump has already gone so thats one of the big issues fixed already.
  24. This S13 has a BMW 8 speed, with a clutch, mated to a 2jz. Easily a contender for a Frankenstein award. Super cool though! I have this transmission in our X5. Might do a sneaky manual conversion. My wife would love it! 😬
  25. Welcome! The. Vspec II is an absolute fave of mine. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress but I'm not gonna lie, I'd prefer to see it kept factory and well maintained. 🥺
