  1. Thread closed and user banned. Selling defected cars is illegal in SA. Being a jerk is illegal on SAU.
  2. I have decided to build a CarPC for my wifes new Forester (as I no longer have a car, I need to do things to hers). Basically, I wanted GPS for the new car and also a reversing camera and phone control and rather than buy these items seperately, I could build one single unit to control all of it. I have a touch screen Alpine Unit atm and integrating it with the carpc is going to cause too much hassle, so that will be going (If you are keen to buy it, let me know). Requirements; Ease of Use. It must be easy to use. It cant be like my home theatre project that nobody but me can use because I never properly finished it off (Thats a story for another day). If its not easy to use, Bec will probably just pay some 15 y/o kid to pull it out and put the stocker HU back in. Touch screen. It must be 100% controllable from the screen. While I will have a wireless keyboard and mouse somewhere in the car for installs and whatnot, the unit must be able to do anything without touching anything byt the screen. GPS. It will have GPS with voice directions. CD/DVD playback. It will have CD/DVD playback which will auto-play on load. Again, no fuss, it should be as easy to play a CD/DVD on it as it would be on the stocker unit. Cant cost too much. While this wont be a 'budget' build. It will definately not be crazy expensive. We have a mortgage, one child and a single wage. It has to be a build that most people could do. (Unlike the home theatre which came in close to $3k for the box and contents only). Would Be Nice; Phone control. Dial, txt, etc from the touch screen with integrated hands free. This is possible and shouldnt be too difficult, but its not 100% required (I have a bluetooth handsfree already hence why its in the 'would be nice' pile). Wireless sync of directories between home theatre and car pc. ECU Logging. Very low on the priorities. The car is 100% stock, no mods. This would just be as a wank wank really. Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Again, a bit of a wank. But if it can be done cheap... I will update this first post as I decide on features and hardware based on the discussion in this thread. Christian.
  3. Guys, avatars can only be up to 120x120. If you upload one that is not square, then when it is resized to fit within 120x120, it will be all pushed out. Make your image square (if its over 120x120) or resize it so that its largest border is no bigger that 120px. Christian
  4. Keep in mind also that with the soon-to-be rejuvenated SAUWiki, a lot of info from the forums will be migrated into the wiki for easy reference. Christian
  5. Thinking about your nuts and holes is making me hungry. Bugger all. I tried it a few years ago and didn't get one bloody job from the cheapskates on these forums.
  6. Hahaha, I dont work on that site, but thats who I work for.
  7. Wow, a lot of variation in these jobs. We're all not sys admins like I thought. I'm a software engineer / web developer (what a shock!!) for realestate.com.au. Christian
  8. Ok, that page has been updated with the new Invision links.
  9. Yeah, the problem is that those links are from when we used to use vbulletin and they havent been converted yet. This will take you there; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=27387
  10. Keep in mind that by changing the URL default colours, your sig may not be legible in the other style. Christian
  11. Hi Everybody, We are pleased to announce a new competition to be run for the month of April. We want you to design some t-shirts, hats, aprons, whatever! This is going to be for the new SAU cafe press shop opening soon. The top 4 designs (as chosen by the members) will win an SAU sticker and their design on a tshirt! Your design can just be words, it doesnt matter. We have had winners in our comps before who are not designers. Everybody can enter this and have an equal shot at winning. Rules: Submissions must be in by midnight AEST April 30th 2008. Your design must be able to be used on cafe press - that is, it must be an image that can be applied to the front or back of a shirt/hat/apron. It can not wrap around etc. Your designs must be your own work Multiple submissions are accepted, however, you can only win once. The most voted for design will win. Your design's ownership will belong to SAU - this is so we can reproduce the design for more t-shirts. EMAIL YOUR DESIGNS TO [email protected] - Submissions posted in this thread WILL NOT BE ENTERED!!!! This is to make it fair for everybody. We will post the designs in a poll on the 1st of May for voting. Thats it. Get Designing. Christian

  16. Hmmm.. Probably worth while giving users this permission.. I'll sort that out. Christian
  17. GeeTR, Its one server that all of SAU is on. The server maintenance scripts run at 2am, but I'm going to look into moving them to 5am because theres a lot more activity at 2 than 5. Christian

  20. Hmmm... I'll check the logs. I wasnt aware of any network issues, I know the hardware was ok. Thanks for letting me know. Christian
  21. Hi Ryan, Send a PM to SAUTraderAdmin and Bec will sort you out. As for size, I'm going to be changing the site a little bit soon and may be incorporating bigger banners, but as Ash said, I only have banners to pay the astronomical hosting cost for a site this big, I'm not trying to make money from it and we barely cut even with it every month as it is. Christian
  22. I'll take both the front tie rod's. I'll pickup tomorrow, need them urgently. PM me if you have them and a price. Christian
  23. Funnily enough, I am in the middle of re-writing all of the guidelines and howto's for this site... Its a big job! Kaz, I feel I need to reassure you that it is definately a family site. I know a few people who will browse the site with a youngan on their lap (myself included) and I'd hate for people to not be able to do that. Please rest assured that things do get actioned, it just takes time sometimes. Christian
