  1. Maybe a single length would make it look better. I might be able to push down the guts coming out of the holes too.
  2. I put PPF on my new headlights which was easier than I expected. I have some for the X5 too because it's headlights are pristine for some reason and I dont think they'll stay that way. I also put some silver wrap on these number plate holes. The colour is not a match by any standard but I think it still improves things, what do you think?
  3. Good lord. Looks amazing, well done!
  4. Welcome back! Hows the V36?
  5. I'm replacing the front tyres on the E39 tomorrow because one of them has a few gouges out of it. There is so much tread still on them but they're also 9 years old and the rubber is super hard. This falls within the guidelines of 10 years old that I've read which surprises me given their condition. I'm curious about whether you guys care about tyre age or just judge the tyre based on condition? How old would you consider too old?
  6. Some of the BMW community feel it offers a fire resistance of some description but I'm not sure that's accurate.
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing it on carsales for $2m.
  8. Yeah, the E34 touring is like hens teeth. This one is really nice, she's a touch rough but we'll get there. Horrible, broken key buttons were irritating me so I bought some replacement buttons and new batteries. The pic makes them look gross still but it is such a difference. I accidentally broke a little bit of the new button on one of them by using a pick to get it in place. Super good service by the guys at Remote Pro who offer free shipping regardless of order. Hats off to them.
  9. This is kinda how I see it also. Could drill down then into sub tags.
  10. Mate, don't stress about it at all. We'll get there, theres no rush and definitely no pressure on you at all. 👍
  11. So, I think we'll still need some trial and error here. If a piece of content has the tags; wiki, r33, brakes it will display on 3 pages - wiki, r33 and brakes. So, maybe this will need something like 'wiki-r33-brakes' ? Note that open tagging is GONE in v5 - so authors cannot add tags to content. It will be up to us to add tags so the naming convention is also up to us.
  12. Guys, here is the incoming tag system. I think this will be really useful for us. https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community/invision-community-5-tagging-reinvented-r1302/
  13. But, do I have to? 😬
  14. While doing my tailgate struts I found some rust. Also replaced my bonnet struts. Such a cool satisfaction with that job.
  15. So I removed as much as I could from both sides. The shop vac did a great job of clearing 99% of it. I got it all as clean as I could and then absolutely drenched the whole lot in the rust converter. Tonight or tomorrow I'll hammer it again. The cavity must be close to 400mm in length and surprisingly I was able to get it right to the back. I'll quickly reassemble and then pretend I never saw it. I'll post pics (for me to ignore later) soon.
  16. Looks great Pete! Sounds great in that video also.
  17. Should have checked that. On the plus side, I got my Bluetooth adaptor.
  18. Sorry the pictures suck. So hard to get camera and light in there
  19. One of the first jobs with the E39 is making sure the tailgate stays up. In BMW fashion they made a little cavity under the roof to hide the dampers rather than putting them down the side like everybody else. As you can see I have these little cavities that house the dampers. When I cleared one out and vacuumed as much crap as I could out of it I noticed a fair bit of rust. The cavity is bone dry, even after all that rain we had only a few days ago so I'm assuming that whatever allowed the moisture in is fixed but I'd like to treat the rust in there. I was thinking of just blasting it full of rust converter but I didn't know if this would be beneficial considering I can't actually get in there to prep anything. Maybe there's a better product? Thanks guys
  20. I dunno man, that VX S with 200,000 k's is still hanging out for 1.5 I reckon the R34 is the better buy, personally.
  21. Dang, doesn't even include on roads.
  22. The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk. I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday. First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts. I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going. Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
  23. Welcome (back) Gaston! Keep us up to date with the hunt!
  24. I reckon you'd get 90% off. My washer doesn't get between spokes very well. Haha! I love my Gerni! Argh! Steam cleaning has its place for sure.
  25. No. I think it's gone. 😭 I think you can get body coloured ones on eBay so I think I'll get one of those... Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it.
