Driver Dynamics Sandown Trackday Saturday 2nd August
llama_au replied to kevwrx's topic in Archived Events
^^^none of the above pending the condition of each before you go there. Make sure you have plenty of tread on your tyres, plenty of meat on your pads and that you're up-to-date with a service. It never hurts to change oil before and after a track day though. Be very careful not to put your handbrake on in the pits or you'll be very likely warp your rear rotors They teach you when to begin breaking, what lines to take through a corner, when to accelerate again and when to change gear. It's a very informative and enjoyable day, you'll want to go back. -
Newbie With 3 White Nissans Saying Hi

Some photos from Sandown the weekend before last (I chose the ones with the most body roll as it looks more interesting than the straight ahead photos ): The photographer seemed to get more photos in the 3 laps the instructor did in my car than when I was driving it (you'll see photos with two people in the car.) I probably did 40-50 laps before calling it a day and watching people. -
I wanted to make love to the Porsche. F*ck it was quick. And the R8 was f'ken loud for stock. Good loud. It was nice to actually see cars like that being driven hard

^^^have you got a photo of the TX5? It seems familiar, not sure if it's the one I'm thinking of.

Stalker No. Would you do it for some beverage? I need to see you anyway. It running a bit rich and a couple of problems have just reared their head And that screaming on boost is back. It held up well after a track day today aside from using 50L of 98 octane in less than 140km I think it had the worst fuel consumption of the day and there were some large power cars there. There were two problems immediately apparent as soon as it hit 5000rpm however. On low boost (14.9PSI) it blows plumes of black fuel smoke and splutters and hesitates and doesn't want to climb past 5000rpm happily. The tacho bounces up and down and it jumps and splutters. On high boost (17.4PSI) it'll still splutter when it hits about 5000rpm but isn't blowing as much smoke and will happily climb and sit on 7500rpm. I think it needs a bit more dyno time. -
I saw those, but I meant completed pics of the whole thing. I don't know what your car even looks like

Congrats! So where are all the pics?

Not sure about Coburg but I know Dromana definitely isn't within the JDM radio frequencies.

Front wheel Trent - cheers for the offer, I'll be in contact if I can't get it sorted out -
Friday night/Saturday morning. A dark metallic blue R32 with a kit and black rims at Baysey Maccas. Lovely colour.

I've had a bit to think about over the last month. I wanted to rule out compression and timing first and foremost. So, the good news. Compression is really good. 158, 160, 158, 158. In comparison my brothers 10,000km rebuild made 132, 132, 138, 132. Needless to say he's not particularly happy. It'd suggest that my engine does have the genuine km's it was sold to me as having (under 50,000km, it'd now have around 70,000km on it at maximum.) I wouldn't have guessed it the first time I saw it with the rocker cover off covered in thick sludgy oil. So I'm extremely happy my compression is factory spec. The Auto is also fixed, but I'm now a bit out of pocket. I don't want to discuss all the details online but in a nutshell someone had bent the throttle cable and mechanisms going into the Auto when the turbo was fitted. As a result the Auto saw the car as being at 50% throttle...at idle!!! It was holding out the gear changes for the fact that at half throttle it thought the car was at wide open throttle. So now, it's back to driving, revving and changing gears like a normal car. I'm annoyed, but quite relieved. Now timing was a bit of an interesting point. The timing light would suggest that at idle the car is barely running a couple of degree's of timing, it was hovering pretty close to the first marker (sometimes almost on 0'.) I was quite sure when I'd seen the consult readout it was closer to 12'. The cause of my whack timing at idle was something so bloody simple it's actually pretty embarrassing. To compensate for a crappy idle the idle adjustment screw had been adjusted in the past and consequently the ECU saw that the car was idling too high and kept trying to retard the timing to 0' to compensate and bring it down. The consult was reading anywhere between 0' and 3' timing!!! It's now happily sitting on 15' which is factory. It's also revealed where the screaming/whistling noise the car was making on boost was coming from, that tiny screw! So when I have the time and money - now that everything mechanically is perfect, I'll go back for a re-tune. The only thing left to check out is whether there's an exhaust restriction. -
I was unintentionally stalking a black R34 4-door in my white R34 4-door Followed them into Ringwood Station, then parked behind them, then left at the same time and drove to Burntbridge shops and parked near them again. Just so happened we both needed to go the same places.

I went for a sight seeing trip on it yesterday, along with the rest of Melbourne I think it's fantastic, it'll cut my Croydon - Rosebud trips to see my dad down by half. Most of my time spent previous was just getting to the South Gippy.

I liked Kung Fu Panda, but it wasn't that funny. I wanted to see it for the graphics. On the other hand I absolutely loved Hulk and Get Smart (which I saw on Thursday) would be the funniest movie I've seen all year. It's a must watch.

I've just given up on reporting people. The last time I went down to the police station with a number plate as I was following a drunk/drugged driver swerving all over the road and hitting guard rails they didn't bother to send anyone out. If it's not a hoon in an import, they don't care if there's someone out there endangering lives.

Completely understand. I haven't used your service but I've heard only positives. It's encouraging to see dealers/brokers willing to put the time in to explain the process to people because it's not straight-forward at all and the information isn't readily available.

See you guys there. Also booked

I'm not meaning to argue - but I disagree, I've seen coupes come up that would have worked out roughly that price on the road (some cheaper.) I wanted a four door, and it was a fantastic price for the condition of the car. You offer a warranty, so I'd imagine with your mark-up and warranty it'd work out a little bit higher then going through an import broker. And that's not a bad thing, it's really up to the person what works out best for them. Not everyone is comfortable buying something they can't see and touch first.
