I had exactly the same thoughts as you. I was tossing up between the 86/BRZ and the GTI. But fairly certain I'll go for an 86/BRZ later next year. An R34 GT-T or S15 crossed my mind but they're a bit old and the fuel consumption of the R34 would be too crap for a daily again.

I did solid mounts all round. The revs determined which new part of the car rattled and at what volume. It also made bolts and screws undo themselves lol

Age would help *budum tish* My Cube works out about $65 per month daily use cover for $20,000. They have quoted me a ridiculous premium for the 86/BRZ I want to insure next year. Currently quoting $1500 insured for $43,000. Really it should be around $1000 at my age with a rating one and other policies with them I would think. By the time I want to insure it I'll be 28/29. I want to stay with them if I can as they're good to deal with. I should be able to haggle them down, having friends who work for them is a bonus.
