Okay, so sent the ECU off to the tuner, was told I still had the board plugged in wrong. Tune re-flashed onto the board and the board re-installed, ECU back in the car and O2 sensor plugged in. Cars starts perfectly, drives and idles okay but the engine check light started flashing about 2 minutes into the drive. No idea what it is.

Getting a bit closer to being ready for sale now as my other car is nearly here. Service booked in for next week, I'll probably spend all of next weekend thoroughly cleaning her and I'll get some new photos and a new thread up once she's ready.

I can't believe how clean it is, photo definitely doesn't do Femno's car justice. I should be able to get a photo of my Skyline, Pulsar & Cube together next week before the Skyline goes up for sale.

We got choice of Evo 6.5 and various vintages of WRX. You'll enjoy it, but it doesn't go for long enough.

Okay, so there were two problems. We plugged in the boards one set of pins out. Rectified that and both boards only start the car in limp mode, meaning both boards have lost their tunes. So if that is the only issue then once the board is re-flashed this weekend the car should be apples.

I did type something earlier but lost it when my internet crashed. Black Smoke = Unburnt Fuel, not too bad Blue-White Smoke = Oil, bad. Worn rings, valve stem seals or blown turbo. White Smoke = Water, bad. Blown head gasket.

The RB25DET is 12 years old, not rebuilt and ~150,000km old. The SR20DET is 13 years old, not rebuilt and ~90,000km old. Neither blow smoke. Both have excellent compression and make the power I'd be expecting from them. I just find the thinner oils break down far quicker and end up thin and watery by the next oil change. The slightly thicker oil gives me a quieter engine and I drain almost exactly what I put into them out at the next oil change. A good number of 10W40 oils contain a lot of friction modifiers to achieve the desired viscosity, they're not fantastic for the engine.

Why would I be kidding? I run it on my RB25DET & SR20DET and both engines love it. 10W40 seemed to 'go missing' on my SR which see's massively high revs and reasonably high oil temperatures. 15W60 keeps my RB happy and quiet.

I use Penrite Semi-Synthetic 15W60.
