  1. well bugger. looks like i am putting away a bit more than i had hoped for. but i suppose it's all in the fun of owning a gtr well i suppose no more first gear fun.
  2. ok so here's the thing. starting to need to do the whole oil problem thing in my gtr. and i'm not going to ask what i do cause i searched for all that stuff. but is it an engine out job to put the trust sump extension on. can i get away without running the external feed from the back of the head if i do the sump and the restrictor in the head? is it an engine out job for the external feed? i would imagine head off (need to happen anyway) just trying to organise what to do. cheers, stephen
  3. yeah i'll always have a soft spot for a worked 31. wagons in particular. oh well at least he turned around half way up the mountain. probably couln't keep up when the real driving started
  4. great day out. first cruise with the sau crew. all was very good apart from the guy in the "get sum" r33. seemed to stir the pot a little. ha ah that swim was awesome, well except for the killer turtles. just got to join th sau club now. cheers everyone for a great day out. edit: apologies to "goner" i wrote the wrong plate without even thinking about it.
  5. yep the sil80 is still sitting at my place. got the old wheels back on it (ones in anna's picture) motor was f**ked when i bought it. my own fault though really shoulda checked it a bit harder. oh well served me for a fun few months
  6. ha ha gotta love being well over the weight limit at wet and wild. i'm not exactly a small guy (around 130kg) so yeah, you start to realise that the weight limits are just a rough guidline lol.
  7. just thought i would post that video up if you haven't seen it. what sort of race car are you looking at?
  8. well that was kinda the plan but yeah not now. pretty much decided i am happy enough with that figure to not bother toying anymore. get the car back either today or tomorrow so i can't wait to take her for a drive. i know it's not really a direct comparison. but it does (kinda) show how much further you can go with a better ecu. horses for courses though the PFC is a fair bit cheaper and a lot easier.
  9. anyone meeting at the morayfield southbound bp? don't really feel like going up to chancellor park just to drive back and i know there's a few of us skyline owner in the caboolture shire. also do we have a set cb channel? probably best pm it to me cheers stephen
  10. yeah i suppose. just let me bask in my ignorance for a bit longer. still pretty good results. here's another sheet form this afternoon after a bit more fiddling. cars almost finished. bloody mechanic still fidling with the tune just to see how good he can get it. still more than happy with the results. going to fiddle a little bit more and try to get the power coming on a little earlier. another intresting note is that more timing was actually fed in at higher rpm's as opposed to the general rule of thumb, more boost less timing. (still nothing compared to a n/a motor)
  11. different tuner however same dyno but different days. and yes the tuner has put more time into it, just merely pointing out that there is the possibility of putting more time into it i.e using much closer mapping points (125rpm increments) doing things like running twin maps (a future plan) just thought i would post it up for the hell of it. however once the wolf v500 is fully tuned then i will do a back to back comparison run as both are plug and play. still more than happy with the power coming on a bit earlier up top. and like i said throttle response is noticably better. but then again the wolf is a more expensive ecu.
  12. well here is a small comparison. running exaclty the same still using the afm's for now (only for sake of comparison will be swapped out straight after) same filter everything. this red line is the pfc (tuned by P.I.T.S) and the blue is the wolf v500 tune, which is not finished yet there is still a little way to go and to sought out why the power is dropping down so early. going to play with the timing and look at it possibly blowing out the spark (splitfire coils with 1.1mm plug gap) throttle response is noticably better with a much smoother running motor. same power so far but it is coming on a lot earlier. one issue my mechanic has noticed is it was running a bit rough (barely) when using larger mapping points. so we have dropped the mapping points down to 125rpm increments. much smoother. post your thought people. p.s. sorry about the quality, dodgy phone camera. cause scanner isn't working.
  13. intrested in the gain's on a rb26, cause i'm considering getting cams done for mine
  14. well let's face it. it's stupid law and i sure a hell hope it doesn't get through. if i was put into that situation i would run. there's the small chance that they havn't seen your plates and let's face it. many skylines won't have a problem out running a skyline. let alone those of us with a gtr. but that's just creating more danger as you will be going faster trying to run away than you are likely to whilst racing. stuff it they can have the stripped out shell after it's been "stolen" and stripped. then hey wait all of a sudden i am a few grand richer with many good parts to either put in a new shell or sell off to pay for a better car.
  15. ok i've seen many braided line setups, but with next to no flex this strikes me as a bad idea.
  16. also wouldn't mind finding out what others have done and thier experiences with them. the idea of a 3 ltr with lightned pulleys and flywheel and everything else to help it rev better does really appeal to me.
  17. hmm how would you go just bringing a container with 1 or 2 cars over and just using them for parts? just normally and then just don't get them complied?
  18. hmm that's and idea. expensive though. i picked up an old 85 single cab hilux. $2500 has a 3.8 commodore motor in it and has been mod plated. couple little things before a roadworthy like new tires and new front swivel hubs and then it ready. if your just looking for something to thrash then look around. no point gettin and imaculate and expensive 4wd just to get scratches all over it. and trust me. it will happen
  19. meh. i have a company work ute a fuel card. just keep taking a jerry with me. considering i full up at least once a day they won't notice 10 litres every now and again. i know a bloke who works on oil rigs. all he does is tap into and cap new oil wells. usually does 1-2 a year. there is heaps of oil. just cheaper getting it out of existing oil fields is currently cheaper, so until they are running empty then they won't bother. will be intresting if a few major oil users (like the usa) stop depending on foriegn oil. the international prices would start dropping due to less demand. although with the way china and other developing countries are going they will want it all. plus the damn servo's will still probably charge the same amount
  20. when i was first looking at a gtr i was a bit dissapointed with a stock one i drove. it was like i know this is quick, it just doesn't feel it. that being said it was COMPLETLY stock except for a k&n panel filter. however do a couple mods and WOW feels like a different car
  21. and this is why i am went an ecu that supports a map sensor. no afm's to stuff up. just a though if you ever upgrade your ecu, one less part to stuff up
  22. i own a 32 gtr. an 85 hilux and go hunting when i can. all of a sudden i feel like the government is picking on me a lot. hey bubba, i feel your pain
  23. go the old datto 1600. then build a relativly tuff l20b, or l18 if you want it to rev more. then keep the extra 10k left after modding and the money saved on insurance and get a gtr when your finished your p's. parts are cheaper. and while it will never be as fast in a straight line( well not until you dump in a sr/ca turbs) i know of a few that will would give some rwd lines and run for thier money throught the mountains. then again i have a soft spot for em.
  24. yeah not worded the best but signed anyway. but hey here's a thought. 1 person shot and killed 30 odd people. the government spent 1 billion+ on the gun buy back scheme, buying guns that where legally owned and registered. now spend that money on the hospitals and see how many more people you would have saved. now that's 1 person. think how many more hoons there are. i agree with the idea, but just remember we are some of the least affected of the examples given.
  25. motec may be very good. but you REALLY pay for it. plus i hear that to unlock all the featurs/extra features you need to pay extra. it will mean spending more but my bet would be the new wolf v500. ordered one today for my gtr so should be here mid next week. www.wolfems.com for details. about 1900 for the ecu and it's plug and play. can get universal ones though. planning on doing a quick fiddle with the fc then a dyno run and then tune the wolf. execting similiar power but a whole lot smoother from the wolf. then you have all the other features it can do e.i. data logging, full race dash compatability etc.
