  1. Do it urself. sprey wd40 or penetrene. let it soak for an hour or two and then use the largest drill you can safely use without threat of hitting your threads. best to use a pin puch to mark your drill point so drill will stay in centre. use the biggest possible easy out and make sure you buy the good brand and not cheap shit from the local $2 shop. Make sure you tap the easy out hard on the head to seat the easy out and also to shock to metal thread around the bolt you are trynig to remove. It really is an easy job and at the end of the day if you cant do it or you wreck it, THEN call someone to do it. Dont be scared to try as you are already in a position where you are thinking of calling someone. At the end of the day if you stuff it all up, you will still be in the same position you were in to start with ( i.e. having to call someone). SO give it a go. Nothing like working with your hands n building shit to fully appreciate being a man with skills, not a boy with a wallet.
  2. is there a problem with the N1 pumps even when using oil restrictor kits, larger drain holes, and a baffled sump?
  3. I have until recently always had wrx's. I always run a knocklink on my engine. There have been many cases when I have filled up on optimax that my knocklink has indicated detonation. I used to not care too much about what fuel i was using except that it had to be 98 RON. After making a decision about 9 months ago not to use optimax again I ahve never had a problem with detonation, or atleast the knocklink didnt pick it up. In short I think BP make an equal product to Optimax but they make it consistantly where shell dont.
  4. Oh im sure they will be just lining up at your door with that sorta money up for grabs!!!!!!!!
  5. COME ON GUYS!!!!!! Surely someone on here has some info regarding a more lenient place to get a safety cert for a modified GTR. If you're worried about putting the name up here then pm me, or a hint or anything.
  6. Ive bought a 33 gtr vsepc in sydney and am bringing it up to townsville once Hills Motorsport get me my magic numbers at the wheels. I was wondering if anyone here in townsville knows of any "modification friendly" transport approval stations that are a bit more lenient when issuing safety certs????
  7. N1 oil pump and full extended and baffled sump.
  8. Im at a time in my life where I can burn a little cash off having fun but if you can tell me more about the box you bought - where from, how much, it would be appreciated
  9. Has anyone here had bed experiences with Hills? Please gimme a call on 0438564732 as Im spending big money and have been told these guys know their stuff. My name is paul.
  10. Thanks dirtgarage thats definatley food for thought. It already has a set of 350ho hks on it so i will have to do a swap and retune at some stage to see what the results are. If im gunna need 9500 rpm dumps to launch then that mean the gearbox will definatley be gone soon.
  11. are these bigger or smaller than the gtr-s turbos? and why would they be better suited?
  12. Hi again, the turbos are hks gtr-s but i was told they were rated at 450hp, and other sites I have researched agree with that. I think the inevitable will happen and i will have to re-do the box although i've been told the r33 box is a lot stronger than the r32. So that gives me a little hope. Im used to having cars that are not real street friendly and thats the way i like em. If i want refinement and boredom I will go buy a hsv senator. Anything you guys tell me on here I do take into consideration because as i said before im very new to the gtr scene. So any comments are not taken as smart arse remarks. purely as info. With this car I just feel like doing something a bit crazy...a bit wild so thats why im chasing big numbers, big revs, and using high lift, long duration cams
  13. Like I said above I have done the quarter many times before in my WRX's and also in a coupla older V8 dinosaurs when I was fresh off my L plates. But having said that, there is a real "knack" to launching a wrx the right way and Im assuming that this will be the case with the GTR too. It will take me a while but what I was really asking about ( which has been answered too thanks all) is what time I can expect once im used to launching the GTR.
  14. hks twin 450 hp. biggest low mount hks units available for a gtr set-up.
  15. Hi all, I agree the box will be broken but then i will go all out to get one that is super strong. I cant quote brands or names at this stage because i simply dont know enough at this stage. Part of the build up includes a custom clutch set up built by some guy in QLD. He was recommended to me by Hills motorsport and they are taking car of it all for me. I chose hills because the car was in sydney when I bought it and the import place I bought it from suggested I use them to do the minor work I had planned first (larger cams and stronger springs). Has any one here had work done by them? I have heard some good things about them and mark seems to know his shit, but then again im only new in the GTR game.
  16. Hi All, Im very new to the GTR scene having converted from many years with STi WRX's. I felt it was time for a change so I have purchased a n R33 GTR Vspec in Sydney. Im currently in townsville. It had around 280kw atw so I took it to Hills Motorsport to get bigger cams/springs in. To my dismay, when the head was pulled off they found it only had cast pistons (standard). Since I was aiming for around 350 kw atw I thought this was a bit much for standard pistons so I have decided to go the whole 9 yards. With the gear i've bought Mark from Hills Motorsport estimates he will safely get 410-420 at thw wheels and anything up to abot 470. My question is this.........With good tyres ( not slicks) RE077's???, what 1/4 mile times do you guys think it will be capable of? I have run the quarter many times im my STi's and also done lotsa track time so im no starightline only amateur.
