as whistla said it works best where its designed for.
i dont think the nissan engineer's put in that operating range because they can , they have spend a hellofa lot more R&D then any of us ever could..
if you want to help the VCT work more effectively try a adjustable exhaust cam wheel .

if u are serious about the cam ring up Nizpro in melbourne for a cam, they have done alot of work for the RB30 motors and getting the best results out of the packages they make...
they will be roughly 300 exchanged cam and lifter bodies for the N/A cam ...the standard comp will still work well with the cam .. if u really want some go fast bits get a XF throttle body and get the manifold modified to suit..
do not waste your time with sub zero... Nizpro all the way guaranteed..

that lean mixture is only at cruise mode and or light throttle but as soon as a load is detected it richen's up to a higher 12.5:1.
i was surprised to hear it my self but the owner of the car say that it drives well and he cant pick any faults or misses when using light throttle driving... the motor must be happy .. next time his spark plugs r out i will have a look c and decide then...
i can't see any harm in having a lean mixture regards to the turb's because the turbo is not creating any boost .. at least it will keep the EPA happy .. lol
a friend of mine has the new LT12 with head work new pistons front mounted throttle body decent front mount cooler high flowed 25 turbs and with the cruising mixtures they are that lean it is about 19:1 going of the standard oxygen sensor .. driveability is still perfect... then when power or load is applied the mixture go into the low 12's which is safe ..
fuel economy is better then the standard comp so he isn't complaining..

every body seems to b able to tackle and think of ways to sort out problems with there cars so and most ppl usually are nearly spot on with fixing a prob ..which is bloody good ...
not much goes wrong with my car so i dont have to ask question's on how to fix it and if it does stuff up i am able to sort it out myself...
i am pretty quiet ..

are you installing the red rocker cover 20 out or a HR31 skyline or the silver rocker cover 20 out of a R32 ??
if you are able to buy a HR31 front cut with brakes and suspension aswell i will buy the brakes of u, but if u r getting the R32 well then i miss out ..
