FYI... there are road works currently happening in the National Park... Only a short area at the moment... maybe 500 metres? But no doubt they will be doing more in coming weeks... So maybe a different location would be best for now? Then again, not exactly sure if this thread is still about a Natio cruise or somewhere else from all the conflicting posts!

R34 10th Anniversary Charity Cruise N Show N Shine
Moelders replied to mxfly's topic in Events Archive
Put me down to be there Should be a great day. -
I remember that Terry. Although I wasn't old enough to drive back then They used to have signs up around the Great Western Highway, out towards Bathurst that said "Police Aerial Rader in Use" or something similar. One of them had spray painted under it "cops in Space"... Thought that was pretty funny Well if anyone even remembers the Muppets these days...

+1 for that. the -9 seems to be very similar to the GT-SS in power and response etc. The -7s are definitely the N1 turbos. -5s more like HKS2530s... Check out this link: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbroom/Turbos.htm. Some very good info on there. However, apparently the -9s don't come with actuators which have to be purchased separately. Apparently Garrett don't sell many of them, mainly selling -5s and -7s to GTR owners (Possibly because of the common misconception that the -7s are GT-SS equivalents on top of not having the actuators?).

I would suggest make sure you drive a few of them, and don't buy until you have! My R33 V-Spec has ~80k kms on it, and the gearbox is beautifully smooth and certainly has no noise or grinding in it. Are you in Sydney?

Lowering Ride Height With Coilovers
Moelders replied to Bakes's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Already looks pretty low in the photo... I hope you don't intend to come to Sydney after you've dropped it more, or the first pothole you find will inherit a V-Spec undertray! Not that there are many potholes in Sydney roads of course... -

Awesome racing, and great vid! Great to see so many different types of cars on the track at the same time! Reverse grid racing in particular looks like it could get exxy for you guys though! Great to watch though! -
Good post! Been thinking about getting a trickle charger for some time. Just bought an XS800 for myself now

Hi All, As the post title says, would like to buy a standard air box for an R34 GT-R. My car currently has Apexi Pod filters, however I would prefer the stock airbox with a drop in filter. Will consider a trade for the Pods. Cheers.

Should be fine with those mods Actually, mine had the Potenza Re01 Jap tyres that came on the rims from Japan, so should be fine there too... Of course, it's possible different RTA inspectors at different inspection sites might have a different opinion, but I suspect as long as they are normal road tyres you shouldn't have a problem. -

Hey mate. Not sure exactly what else they check other than the plate numbers matching etc. Took them 40 minutes. I think they might go over it to make sure it hasn't been in an accident and that it is structurally sound. My car came from Japan and I had put back on, after compliance - Nismo LM GT4 rims and an aftermarket (but very quiet) Fujitsubo exhaust. The workshop did put in the standard airbox (car came with pods) just in case. Mine passed without a problem, but with only those 2 aftermarket parts, so can't really comment on if they would notice or try to reject yours for any other aftermarket parts... Cheers. -

My first suggestion would be don't go to the Wynyard RTA! The lady I dealt with there said that all imports have to have the VIIU done. I know they told me a load of crap about a lot of things, but if the people behind the desk there believe it should be done on all of them, then there's not much chance of not getting forced to get one! Good luck and may you not get selected! -

Thanks NISMO, will keep the docos with me, don't worry about that! Hopefully I have the same sort of happy smiley Police around when I drive! MX - Awesome mate Yes, the car seems to be in fantastic condition, and I can't wait to actually be able to drive it legally, where I want! LOL. Good luck with yours too, will have to check it out when it arrives! -

Went to the Wynyard RTA... And I was nice to them... very restrained as I usually am, but still they just reckoned it wasn't allowed for imports. Anyway, doesn't matter now. Will just drive it home from the workshop, then to the inspection the next morning and should be fine (I hope!). -

Further update: spoke to someone else at the RTA, this time in the department that deals with Unregistered Vehicles. She told me I can legally drive the car home from the workshop and then to the inspection from home all as part of the "Allowed to drive relating to getting the vehicle registered" rule... So anyway, will see how it all goes! Wish me luck! -

Thanks for the advice. You are correct, it does not state anything about imports being excluded. Sadly it doesn't say anything about them being them specifically being allowed either. But surely if people with Race or Rally cars can apply for one of these, why wouldn't I be able to apply for one with a valid compliance Blue Slip? The Blue Slip is surely at least the "Road Worthiness Declaration" they mention? Seems it depends who you speak to at the RTA... I actually just rang the general enquiries line. Interesting that the lady was so adamant that imports could not be allowed. A change in their process to yet again try and screw over the import owner/driver, or just my bad luck?? Anyway, will try at an actual RTA office and see how I get on... Yes, to both those questions MX :-) -
Hi All, I have just imported an R34 GTR from Japan (personal import organised by a dealership/importer). Just wanted to share the fun I've had with dealing with the RTA... Got my Blue slip, Green slip and required doco and headed off to the RTA to get my car registered, happy thoughts about being able to drive my car shortly in my head... Lady at the RTA tells me that I need to get a VIIU inspection done. She says that "All imports" have to have this done. Booked me in for the 22nd August, which is not too bad I guess. So I ask, can I have temporary registration so that I can drive the car until I get it inspected? RTA: no, under no circumstances can an imported vehicle that has not previously been registered in NSW be given a temporary rego. Can I get a permit to drive the car home (still at the the place that imported it for me) so I can then take it to the RTA inspection the next morning? RTA: No, not for an Import under any circumstances. So I can drive the car, but only to the inspection place, and then either back to the importer or home after that. But the thing is, even though I have paid for my Greenslip in order to get the rego, as I understand it the car will not be insured because it is not registered? So whilst I may be able to drive to the VIIU appointment, I believe I would do so at my own risk, and if involved in an accident would find myself uninsured?? Could get it put on a truck and taken there, but again, it's not insured, so if they damage it, then tough luck as well?? Any thoughts, experiences and suggestions about this?? Basically, even though I have followed all the legal steps and done everything properly to import the car and get compliance, it seems the RTA still want to stuff me around and make importing a car as painful a process as possible.

Differences Between S2 And S3 R33 Gtr
Moelders replied to R33GTRKid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Certainly the seats and Xenon lights mark it as a Series III. I've seen a few Series I or II R33's with the Xenon's put in, but I don't imagine anyone would bother to put the Series 3 seats in and door trims! Looks like you have yourself a Series III Nice looking car As to "how do the lights look any different", check out some pics of R33 GT-Rs pre-97 and you can see the different look of the non-Xenon lights. You should find plenty on here, or otherwise just google R33 GTR pics -
Differences Between S2 And S3 R33 Gtr
Moelders replied to R33GTRKid's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The obvious differences are Xenon lights and Different interior trim/stitching in the Series 3's (in the seats and door inserts). I also remember reading somewhere that the series 3 had a strengthened 3rd gear, but I can't recall where I read that so may or may not be entirely true! Not sure if there are any more differences? As to what month the Series 3's first came out? I think august 07, but I can't confirm that as I'm at work and my Skyline mags are at home... My Jan. 98 Series III is for sale, if you were interested in buying one? Cheers. -
Would love to go and check it out. Looks to be some really nice cars that will be running. What time will it be starting?? Couldn't see that on the superlap site, but could be that I'm just blind...
