Yeah my broker told me that he could do everything himself and all id have to do is wait. But i opted against it. Personally i like to know whats happening from chapter to chapter, signing the forms and seeing arrival and completion dates. Just so you know where you stand. I hate waiting for a phone call, its like waiting for a diagnosis! so yeh, let us know how it goes!

** This is just my personal opinion so don't flame me without justification ** Laws are brought in for a reason, and 9 times out of 10 it is a legitimate reason. The reason in question in this case, driver road tolls for under 25 year olds. To put it simply, there are too many inexperienced young drivers on the road with cars far too powerful for their driving experience. Taking away the ability to drive the high powered cars theoretically means less deaths. I think the ruling is a great idea, all we hear every day is another group of teens have died in a tragic car accident, most leading from speeding or drink driving. The youth of australia have not shown good enough reactions in their driving from the countless govt ad campaigns and thus the laws being imposed. I know that when i passed my Driving Test, i learnt more in the first 3 months of driving on my own in the 6 months of being a learner. I was not at all ready for what i was too experience, not one iota. Extending the Learners period to 12 months is great. Power restrictions is a great idea. All in all it seems to work on paper, and has worked in other countries and states of australia respectively. Queensland should be no different.

Purchasing from J-spec

mmmmm, generally people who have had bad experiences have no one to blame but themselves hey -
Yeh no worries stink. Basically i had fairly good luck with the whole process, so from time of purchase to time of arrival came to around about 2 months, just under. (not long at all) If you are importing through SVI and have bought the car already, you should be recieving papers for import approval for ur signing within the next few days (seeing that it is nearing the departure date). Once this is done, your broker will send it away to be processed (SVI). Time frame wise: It took 3 days for the payment of the F.O.B. Price for the car to be wired to the car company in Japan. Once this was done i was sent a confirmation of recieved of pays documentation. Once this was confirmed with my broker he set up a booking for the nearest available shippoing departure from Nagoya. This turned out to be about 10 days later that it left, 10 days on the water. You then recieve documentation for an arrival notice that your freight has arrived safely, 24 hrs later you should recieve an Invoice for the shipping costs, duties, GST, customs and whatever other costs are incurred during shipping and customs clearance. Customs takes 2-3 days normally (if u pay promptly). 1 day for your car to be transported to your compliance workshop. 5 days is the normal time-frame for a 33gtst to be complied. 1/2 day for registration and insurance. done done done. -------------------------------------------------- hope this helps. Basically the longest time you have to wait normally is from when you find your car to when it leaves japan, once it is in aussie waters and aussie hands, everything is quite speedy.

Hey All, Just writing this up to show you my experiences with the importation of my R33. Phase 1: Speak to Craig @ J-Spec Imports. Decide he knows what he is talking about and their range and coverage was second-to-none. Wire AUD$1000.00 to J-Spec (service fee) Phase 2: Found the car after months of filtering! Wired the amount owing for the car to Motorworld Corp in Nagoya, Japan. Phase 3: Recieved receipts/invoices for both the car payment and service fee. Recieved documents for signing for Import Approval. Recieved documents for signing for Customs Clearance. Phase 4: Was notified of the shipping ETD and ETA Dates. Recieved Confirmation the car was on the ship 5 days later. Revieved reciept/invoice for Shipping/Port Fees etc. Paid Shipping to Seaway AUD$3,036.00 (much cheaper than what i thought!!!) Phase 5: Awaited car to clear customs. Recieved notifcation that my car was on transit to SVI (Special Vehicle Imports) for compliance. Phase 6: Compliance was completed - Invoice Recieved and Paid (AUD$2500.00) Phase 7: Car was registered and Insured - Invoices paid via internet. Phase 8: Happy new skyline owner driving back from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and a new home for a great car. -------------------------------------------------------- Could not be any more happy about the process guys. A big shoutout and thankyou must go to the following: Craig - J-Spec Imports - Broker. Mick - SVI (Special Vehicle Imports) - Compliance. Brendan - Seaway Logistics - Shipping/Customs. I Highly recommend the use of all these guys/companies...made my whole experience easy and worthwhile for sure! :sorcerer: #N.B. All prices were Inclusive of GST.

Import Approval?
Sambo33gtst replied to stink's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
ohhh i see what you asking. So no, import approval means what i stated. Not whether it is sitting at the docks waiting to go....thats up to the shipping company and papers to be completed by your broker. that system sucks. -
Compliance does not have to be organised before you purchase the car. Do not know where you go that from However if you talk to the compliance workshop once you have purchased it and set a date for import, they will organise import approval for you. If it is going to take 4 months, the best thing you can do is enquire is to how long it would take if u had compliance done in the eastern states and for it to be delivered to you in WA. Then weigh up whether it is worth the extra cash. 4 months however is only about 1 month longer than normally how long it takes, so yeh...delays suck, but they have to be expected.

Its Australian Governmental Approval for the go ahead to allow your car to enter the country. Doesn't take too long, just be patient -
Car Grades
Sambo33gtst replied to CSNet's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Alot of cars that get downgraded from 4 to 3.5 is because of the Km's on the clock...more often than not it is when it has breached 100k's + Auction Grade 4 with J-Spec will ensure you a very nice car indeed. Speak with Craig and he will look after you man, the last thing he wants for his customers is a bad car and a shitfight. He will tell the truth straight up. -
Car Grades
Sambo33gtst replied to CSNet's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Umm ReeceR, I could provide a link for you but this depends on which import broker or company you are using. However, from the amount of time i have spent researching all the cars for my import i have found they vary quite alot from auction yard to auction yard and again to the final sale of the car. From my understading anything about Auction Grade 3.5 on average is going to be a decent car with a few niggly problems. I have imported an r33 with a grade of 4 and it is quite clean indeed. Just make sure u see the underbelly of the car before u buy. Salt on roads in japan = rust. -
So should i rename this thread to "Public rant" ?

hahah some decent ones coming thru i reckon a funny one wouoldnt be too bad...

lol u dont mean to attack me, its all good man. I understand it can be very easy for some people to judge one's driving skill thru text they see on a forum lol. And last time i checked saws on a building site do tend to throw the dust a fair distance, say for instance if ur setup on the only dry ground on the site just a thought. Yeh it was my mistake but blaming it on poor driving skill is more than likely a fallacy. Just a bad decision made in the heat of the moment id put it down to. Good lesson learnt aswell. Flaming isn't though

Haha, thanks for the advice peoples. I just went and got a second hand rim from the wreckers for $45 and quickfit put a tyre on it for $20...so all i gotta do is give him the rim to throw in the boot and we're sweet. One thing though...commodore ABS = Sh!thouse. Honestly, it did not pull up the car in the time it should have...it was a fairly low speed spin hmmm. *shrugs* and yeh, it was in a housing estate, lots of building going on...so i think a chippy had set up his cutting block on the road >.<

Li'l story for you guys. Last night was a going away dinner/drinks for a mate who is leaving the coast for work for about 6 months. So we came to the decision that i would be the DD (designated driver)...so were at the pub having a counter meal and a few beers...while i had like 15 lemon lime and bitters after dinner we cruised into mooloolaba to hit up the irish bar for some more brews. Come about 12.30 we decide to jump into my mates car (VX auto commodore) and drive home and drop everyone off at the end of a very decent midweek binge. So we got to our first destination where i dropped off both the owner of the car and his cousin and we were left with myself (driving) and my mates and well known rev head in the passenger seat. Soooo a few roundabouts into the journey home, stew tells me to give it a bootfull thru the roundabout. So i drop it back into second and give it a punch...coming out the other side of the r'bout the rear right wheel hits some sawdust and quickly i find myself line locking down the street until finally i catch the offside off the road and ive done a complete 180. Now all is well and good until while im spinning i find it is bin collection tomorrow, so all i can see is an incoming gutter and a wheelie bin . So what happens? The rear right wheel (the same one i lost it on the sawdust with) has the hit the gutter on parallels and tot op it off i collected the rubbish bin, and it didnt fall over!!!! But to put a dampener on it all, it ripped the tyre off the rim and bent the rim like there is no tomorrow. BUT! Stock rims! check the boot for a spare and thank god there is one. I pop off the damaged on, replace it with the spare, and off we go. And double thank f#ck there was no rear axle or suspension damage I told him straight out today and he was slightly pissed, but happy there was minimal damage. Freakin' commo's man, such a heavy ass and they handle like a bucket of puss >.< the end.
