pretty bored at work today so i'll post up what me and my guys have been working. We generally only build parts where we see a part that isn't already available, or if the available parts on the market dont meet our requirements... All of this stuff is for my E36 BMW (w/rb26dett) BIG BRAKE KIT This kit consists of proven OEM components (ie calipers and rotors), and a CAD designed and lazer cut caliper bracket. * 2 pot PBR Calipers * 345mm (x32mm thick) Rotors machined to suit e36 (5x120) * Lazer cut 10mm thick mild steel caliper bracket to suit standard E36 (non-M) hub This was just a cheap solution/upgrade, not meant to be as good or better than a $2k big brake kit! STRUT BRACES (FRONT AND REAR) AIR BOX (TO SUIT RB26 INTAKE on E36) RADIATOR AIR GUIDE work in progress.. COIL PACK COVER INLAY (RB26) Most of this stuff is out getting laser cut this week, the brake kit is ready to go on just need to have the brake lines modified. strut braces, air guide and air box are all made from alluminium sheet in varying thicknesses. We'll weld up when it all arrives and i'll post some shots of it all fitted. cheers Chris.

Cre8toR, glad a fellow bmw owner approves of the transplant!! actually got it started the other night which was a bit of a thrill, rb26 sounds menacing with just dump pipes attached! Go ahead on replicating my engine mounts/xmember.. that design just made the most sense to us at the time.. getting the standard loom hooked up and supplying power to the ECU is a breeze (when you finally work it out!) just PM me when you're at that stage. christo.

Well i normally post in the BMW Projects topic on Eurocca.net (http://forums.eurocca.net/showthread...=17736&page=15), and regularly poke around on SAU for hints and tips for my RB26'd BMW, so it's nice to get creative on something a little different. My father in law owns a cabinet making business, so one day we decided to start making my 2 year old son's christmas present. The theme is "Lightning McQueen" from the pixar movie "Cars".. and my son's favourite character. McQueen is a bright red C6 Covette built for the racetrack. The bed has been CNC routed from MDF, and all edges rounded with a hand router. The wheels are sandwiched pieces of MDF (thicker tyres on the rear of course!!) and have even been installed with ball bearings as my son loves to spin anything with wheels.. i guess he gets that from his dad! Once constructed we painted the entire bed in 2 pack red base coat, then masked off the areas where the lightning bolt is and painted those areas in yellow base coat. Then we layed down the pinstripe around the edges of the lightning bolt and sprayed 2 pack clear over the entire thing (this way my son won't be tempted to try and peel up the pinstripe while he's lying in bed). My wife grabbed some stickers from the internet and printed them onto label paper and cut them out by hand. There's about 30 hours in this bed and hopefully my son will fit in it for a few years before we have to think about doing another one! me thinks F1 theme next!!

Need Info On Rb Engines For Conversion To A Non-nissan
kristafa replied to niterida's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
so you're talking about converting a standard road-going RWD car to AWD? take the GTS-4 .. if you use the whole drivetrain then you are looking at using the standard front diff located in the sump, then those front drive shafts need to go somewhere, so your looking at replacing your front hub/rotor/wheel/suspension assembly. the rear drivetrain can be taken care of by a custom drive shaft to the vehicle's std rear diff (see hardy spicer). i had considered doing an AWD conversion to a RWD car but seriously the thought of trying to fabricate all the frond end suspension components... it will be costly and time consuming -
because there'll be no stuffing around with an s50 engine into an e36..! and what's the price difference? cmon can't beat the old jap-euro tagteam!!!
-
any chance that part differs between engine? could nissan have incorrectly supplied you one from rb20/25/30? that part should definitely be a tight fit, even without goo
-
my mate had this on a rb25.. full boost around 4700 and made 270rwkw.. i think on ebay they sold it as a 'T70' cost him like 400 bucks was pretty fun to drive, if you dont mind hanging around for boost ;-)
-
back in 2006 me and my mate put an RB20 in my E36.. have since pulled out the RB20 and installed RB26..! there's 16 pages in my build thread on eurocca.net -> http://forums.eurocca.net/showthread.php?t=17736 should keep you busy. Note the custom sump you'll have to build ;-) keep us posted! Chris.
-
looks like i've got an SAU member sending all the bolts, but i'll consider buying new clutch bolts from nissan since that's not an expensive exercise, thanks for the advice. Chris.
-
you'd think being bolts they wouldn't be expensive at all, but nissan quoted: $11 PER flywheel bolt (!!!!) $1.80 per clutch bolt $1.90 per clutch bolt washer that's $100..!!! so if anyone has these parts (used) pls let me know.. Chris.
-
i'm sure i have one in my 25 box at home.. going into my bmw so wont need it.. PM sent
-
Needed asap (or let me know where i can get some new ones..!!) 6x flywheel bolts 9x clutch bolts will pickup (brisbane area) or pay for postage. 0422 933 217 cheers, Chris.

any more thoughts my design anybody? sump ring is back from the laser cutter today so wanted to get this sorted.. i think setting the pickup nice and low and in the centre of the bowl, plus having these angled wings should keep oil down
-
cooler pipes are in aluminium, exhaust is stainless.. and i didn't purge the pipes while welding i dont have another argon feed as its just a backyard setup
-
ok trent thanks for the tip.. with regards to the use of the 4 'wings' on the pan.. any thoughts? does it makes sense to have these to stop the oil flowing out with those forces in cornering and accel/braking..? i've seen the use of hinges around a box section could i get away with some box section with some holes cut into it..? is the idea to stop the splashing of the oil and stop the pickup from drawing on pockets of air momentarily? have been thinking about this for ages (months) but still feel like a noob..!
