Mainly the power goals I have with the expected level of response, all on E85. I want to make around 300rwk on approx 16-18psi I want to make around 320rwk on approx 20-22psi I want to make 350rwk++ on approx 25+psi I want full boost (boost level as defined above for each power goal) between 3900 to 4500rpm To achieve that; The 5858 will be slightly laggier than the 5558 but will make more power. A 5558 will have better response and make 320rkw but may need higher boost levels to achieve it - something I cant quite do yet on a standard bottom end. A 5862 or 6266 will easily make that but we believe they may be too laggy for a T3 undivided set up. The 5858 is a middle of the ground compromise. Another reason is I'm making close to 270rwk now out of a 3071 T2 on around 22psi so I don't want to upgrade to a 5558 and make 300rwk on 22psi (it should make more but I don't want to risk it) - I want the next turbo to make a BIG difference to power. BTW my car will be running 295 semi slick tyres all around and is essentially a dedicated circuit car hence the power goals. I dont want power so I can say I have xxrwk - it will be needed and used on the track, particularly Eastern Creek. Ultimately when the time comes (built motor) we will turn it up and try to hit 350rwk++ so the extra compressor size of the 5858 will give us that extra headway, may even be too small!!! That's the logic (?) but will find out when it all happens I guess.

I'm going to purchase a 5858 SP T3 0.63 v-band Ball Bearing for my SR20. Spoke to Yavuz and luckily he agreed it was the way to go with the T3 manifold "for me", although he did speak highly of the T4 twin scroll set-ups. Am going to order in the next week or so.
-
There's a twin scroll 6466 going onto a VE SR20 along with a 6boost and twin 38mm gates. Was already making 490rwk on 30psi with a Garrett GT35 and EBAY spec manifold so it should be interesting.

So the SP on this particular turbo loses 100rpm spool time against the S? How is it only on 'this' turbo and not all SP cover turbos??
-
I just tried 160kg deadlift. Got it up (eventually) and then put it down. Massive headspin. True story.

Yeah I never thought of that! I just put a brand new rear housing on it a year or so ago. But I think I will sell it. Yeah I'm on NS and have seen the build. Scale is in speed so hard to tell but the graph does look good. Its also a large bore engine with 90mm pistons. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=516776&st=60&p=6623610&hl=precision%205858&fromsearch=1entry6623610 There's also Joels 5558 BB. Hard to tell what its like with the graph he has put up though. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=521707&st=30

How did you go with that 5558 on the SR20? Ball bearing or journal? Do you have any further information relevant for SR20? (thanks in advance!) I just bought a top mount T3 external set-up with 44mm tial gate but minus turbo and am trying to work out what turbo to go for (who isn't ). Currently makes around 270rwk out of a T2 3071 internal gate on 23psi with E85 and Tomei 260 cams, standard bottom end for now (Unigroup dyno) so I obviously want more than that, actually a lot more than that - ie ability to push to 350rwk later on. Unfortunately, it still has to retain reasonable response for a track car (very irregular street car) which makes it a bit trickier. So far have narrowed it down to; 5558 journal or ball (55 exducer, 58 inducer) 5858 journal or ball (58 exducer, 58 inducer) TD06SL2-20G 8cm (3" inlet, 52.5 exducer, 54.1 inducer - think it might be too small as most results seem to be around the 250-295 mark) TD06SL2-25G 10cm (4" inlet, 60.5 exducer, 54.1 inducer) It seems the 5558 will make the numbers but on high boost (not good for standard bottom end) and the 5858 will make it easier but will sacrifice some response in doing so (not good for turns 2, 9 at EC and fish hook and last corner at Wakefield ). Currently leaning towards the 5858 ball bearing but not sure about the response it will give.

^^^ Its a different track and quicker than the old layout. Its virtually pointless in comparing the times other than trying to estimate how much quicker the track actually is. Without having driven the new track the changes appear to be; looks to be an increased exit on turn 3 (might be wrong here) definite increased exit on turn 5 removal of turn 7, making a quicker turn 6 increased exit on the old turn 9 improved surface on most of the track -

Yeah that looks very well set-up, turn in is so crisp with little to no understeer despite the late braking. Does exactly what he wants. Compare that to this from Scorch; BTW is Nemo's speedo correct?? The top speed was somewhere in the 240km mark down the straight which seems quite slow for the time they are running. Last year the Sierra EVO was claiming to hit 298km down the straight and even JET200 stated they hit 260km. -

That Dominator EVO should be in Pro class - its just as mental as the EVO's in Pro and obviously just as quick!!!! Scorch is going really well as is MCA. Nemo is in a different league - so far! -

Thanks. Should have guessed Tilton with Garth driving!!! Cant recall if discussed previously but the track has to be quicker this year than last with the changes made, does anyone have a guestimate of how much quicker or even better does anyone know how much quicker based on times in similar cars then to now? -
Great result mate. Congrats. Not sure on the road speed conversion to rpm but it seems to be hitting 16psi at 4000rpm; 16psi is the boost level chosen not 'full boost' capacity of the turbocharger and system. Don't mean to be picky but its good to know the difference as it can be misleading. If it were to run more more boost, it would take more rpm to generate that additional boost. Basic eg, full boost could be theoretically 45psi + and at that boost level, it would not hit that at 4000rpm but more rather 5000rpm or so. More relevant, if they were to turn the boost up to 25psi, they might see that figure anywhere from 4200rpm to 4500rpm.

After a back session yesterday, I jumped on the rower to finish off. I was stuffed after 4 minutes! Well 3 really but pushed to 4!!! Definitely going to do this more often but I'll change it up and do rows after back, cycle after legs and running at other times. It will be my first real go at any cardio in 9 months of training...

Anymore info on the car doing 1:28.. ie who is it?!! -
I start off with squats and then go to leg press. Always do squats when I train legs. Love them and hate them at the same time lol Chest workout tonight; Bench press x 4 sets (10, 8, 6, 10 reps) Incline DB press x 3 sets (10, 8, 6 reps) Decline bench press x 3 sets (10, 10, 8 reps) Seated cable flys x 3 sets (12, 12, 12 reps) Push pec deck (? unsure of name) x 3 sets (12, 10, 8 reps) Birds - have you tried a pre-workout powder?

Fair point but I still don't think its fair for the Open class guys. As you know, they allow a certain number of cars to enter into each category. This is to ensure a fair amount of track time with hopefully not as much traffic per group or session. If more cars are bumped up that is more traffic to contend with and more chance of ruining a lap. It could certainly work to ensure cars dont miss out, but not entirely fair if the numbers are high that do not comply (as is being suggested here). Anyway, that is enough on that I reckon. Noone is ever going to agree and ultimately what I or anyone else thinks doesn't really matter. Will let the organisers deal with it. We can be hopeful that they are aware of it and are looking for ways to deal with it next year, fairly for everyone. BTW - the Cyber Evo does not look as bad as the initial photos suggested. Cant wait it to see it run. Also, how many EVO's are competing this year!!! There are a stack of them in all classes!!! -
TM7GTR: Will take the shoulder feedback on board - cheers. Trozzle: The gym has a machine that you can use your legs separately or can be used pushing both legs together or each leg alternating. You load the free weights onto the machine for each leg. Can be used as a press but ensures each leg pushes the same amount: just not as declined as the normal press machine.
-
I started off with single leg almost all the time. I got up to 90kg a leg but haven't done them for a while as I concentrated on the leg press. Will switch it up. BTW do you do them alternating or push both legs together?

I dont think they can simply bump them up. This may throw the numbers right out and may require re-working of the schedule to allow the increased cars in Open the same amount of lap time. Thats not even considering the impact of increased traffic for Open. I dont think it would work. Someone mentioned they can see some of the cars on the website that clearly contravene the rules. If so then the organisers can and should do something about it but how many cars do the organisers see prior to the event? Again, make the rules clear and enforce them. BTW I am not hung on this, I am merely spectating and am going to enjoy the even for what it is. Boxhead - that new food area is fantastic. Really nice environment with TV's, lap times, good food, nice seating and beer. I was really impressed. I just hope for WTAC they open it up and make it twice as big as it will be a popular place. -
Yeah I'm loving doing legs as well. Seeing some major gains physically and with the numbers. Although I got up to 300kg leg press last week x 3 reps yet this week could not do 290kg for 1! Think I need to stick to around 270kg max until I can do it more comfortably.
-
Thanks. That is quite similar to what I currently do although not in that order and I we do 4 sets on the main movements ie miltiary or DB press and then 3 on the others. Also vary the weighs and ensure we do a combination of heavy exercises and lighter ones. Goals are to essentially strengthen up and get bigger (perhaps more defined for shoulders).
