I used 7kg and had not much left over when I did it myself. When we did a mates car there were 3 of us and he bought 7kg and had a heap left over! You will need from 4-7kg. At roughly $6kg get more then less. The deadener starts to crack after 1 minute when the dry ice is applied. Leave it on there for a minute or two and then move it around. The hard part is moving it around. Start at the highest point of the car (back seat) and then move it around then down to the footwells. For the wheel arches and transmission tunnel, you will need to put it in a bag and try and get it to sit on there. The sound deadener is the easy part, the seam silicone is the hard stuff and the dry ice wont remove that - chisel, hammer, wire brush, heat gun, turps and plenty of swearing to get that shit off!!!! Have fun!

OMG those seats look fantastic. The entire car looks fantastic. A brilliant car regardless of what it is used for or how much it costs. If we could, we would too..

Mate you do have some very bad luck. Turns me off building a motor! A friend is sleeving his 2.2ltr that Unigroup is building. I'm sure Yavuz would be aware of this but I'll be sure to mention it anyway. I cant wait to hear how your car goes, I can imagine how you must feel. It will all come good and then you would have forgotten about it.

Dane; can you please link to the turbo kits you are looking at? The Powertune 3071/3076 twinscroll kit comes in at $5815 complete. That is a lot of money compared to the normal 3071 version kit at $3800. Seeing Dave's cars results I find it hard to justify the extra 2k. Dave; What do you think you would make on a built motor with 24psi on board and C16? I bet it would be around 315rwk... and its a 2.0ltr. I dont think your set-up is too far behind these kits that are being discussed including _omg's. 20psi by 3600rpm still amazes me and I imagine it would have cost around $3k-$3.5k all up for the turbo, mani, gate, lines etc? Not a bad result at all.
-
Have you seen these results? This is an S15 engine with cams but a standard bottom end. That is the best result in terms of response I have seen from a 3071 turbo, 20psi@3600rpm and peak power of 285rwk@20psi. Throw another 4psi and it should hit 300rwk. You cant want much more than that! Silvia NSW

SAU Nickname: SRS13 Car Make and Model: Nissan Silvia S13 Circuit Name: Oran Park GP Lap time: 1:20.06 timed with an XT Lap timer Modifications Engine: 2835 turbo, tomei cams, d-jetro etc Power: 248rwk@17psi however was running 15psi on the day Suspension: Kei Office Coilovers and all other arms Tyres: Kuhmo V70A 245/45/17 Brakes: AP Racing front / stock rears Body weight: 1100kg??? Was a pretty slippery track being just after the dust storms. Still more to be had in that time with some better driving but am reasonably happy considering it was 2 seconds faster than my previous best.

When your barelling down the straight at over 200km with 2-4 cars around you, the last thing I am thinking of doing is looking away from the circuit over a brick wall to check if someone is pulling out. I am mindful of where I am going and what the other cars around me are doing. Whilst we all have a responsibility at the track to drive and act safe, I don't believe drivers who are travelling down the straight at those speeds should have to contend with a person pulling out onto the track at 50kmh going onto the driving line. The marshall should be watching and making a decision as to when the best time is to let the car out and the person entering the track should be watching what the other cars are doing and take extra care and caution. I know the marshalls don't always get it right but some of the calls were absolutely dangerous and possibly reckless. I was with Mark when the guy pulled out in front of us and I really did sh!t myself. I honestly thought someone was going to hit him. Anyway, no real harm was done and it was a great day. Cant wait to do it again!

My thoughts on the Kuhmo's so far. The sidewall is stiff being only a 40 profile so tyre roll (sidewall flex) isn't that great as compared to an RE55. As such, you dont need to run as much camber as you would with the RE55. I am finding that whilst the wear is good (longevity) the wear is slightly uneven across the tyre. The inside is wearing more than the outside which suggested that I may be running too much camber. I backed off the camber when getting a wheel alignment from 4deg front and 3deg rear to 3deg front and 2deg rear. Even then, the wear is slightly uneven wearing more on the inside than outside. Not sure if this is to do with my set-up or the tyres however I remember the old Lotus cup tyres (205/45/16) wearing in a similar manner. Grip levels mid corner and corner exit were slightly reduced with the reduced camber but thats a trade off for increased tyre life I guess. The Kuhmo's are rated as a hard compound so you can go quite a few laps without them going off. They get up to heat pretty quickly though (1-2 laps) but maintain grip levels for up to 10 laps. The Kuhmo's like slightly higher tyre pressures. I ran them on 30 cold and tried to keep them at around 34-36 hot as recommended by Kuhmo, whereas with the RE55's I ran them 32 hot. So far I am happy with them except for the uneven wear however if I had the same size rim all round I could have rotated them to assist with the wear. Will let you know how I go at Wakefield. 1:07.xx is the target....
-
Yeah they go OK. The size is fine as it fits both 8" & 9" rims well. Managed a 1:20.06 at Oran GP with them on the weekend. Grip levels are good and the wear seems to be OK. Going to Wakefield this Monday so will see how they go at a track I am familiar with. Can't compare them directly to a RE55 as I have not used the RE55's brand new.

A few mates and I are also running the Kuhmo V70A/V700 245/40/17. Picked them up from John Mills at F-Sport for $330 each as they are the control tyre for the Saloon car series. For $1320 for a full set, you cant go wrong. Will be buying another set whilst they are at this price. The 235 and 255 sizes are up around $470 mark as they are not the control tyres.

The black S13 was me! Was a great day, heaps of fun! Started to come to grips with the car again after a few mods. I ended up doing a best of 1:20.06 timed with an XT lap timer however I know there is more in it just from watching the vid... definitely braking too early into the kink, turn 3, Sutton's and the last corner so plenty of room for improvement

I'll be there! -
Brilliant car. Does it really need a 900hp RB26/30? lol Unfortunate accident though. It seems he was still on it as he was turning left and the rear end of the car just came around on him under boost. Not much he could have done in that instance. Do you have any external pics of it?

I am there for sure. I called a few days ago and the receptionist said the next practise day was Sept 25th so am wrapped this is on. -
These would be great to have in the car as they double up as gauges and provide important information for review afterwards. Where are these available in Australia? Do they come with sensors etc needed or are these purchased separately? Will they work with Power FC's? Cheers.

The Radical SR8 is 380hp and 600kgs from memory. Yes it is based on 2 Hayabusa engines. Relatively inexpensive too, considering the times it is running... That link above is I believe where he bought it from.
-
Great times and good video. Little bit out of sync though with the data logger as it states your braking when clearly you are not.
-
Some really quick cars! Were the Radical SR8's ignition problems sorted? The owner is still getting familiar with the car hence the current times. The 1:28 was done by Garth Waldron when the car was having ignition issues ie missing at various points throughout the rev range. It should still go quicker. The same car did a 56 lap of Wakefield with the same issues!!
