hi everyone. just wanted to know if anyone knew where i could get the shocks that hold up the boot re-gased or can u get stronger ones. reason is i have 2 JBL AMPS mounted on the boot lid so i need something more heavy duty due to the weight on the original gas struts. Cheers weight unknown so anything u know of will be great. Callum

If you had a home stereo speaker connected it may be the incorrect impedance which causes amps to do very strange things or u have damaged the decks amp. u may be able to get under warranty if you play dumb. like the other guy said check for shorts on ur audio line

hi peoples. seeing as my engine looks to be screwed does anyone know of anywhere in sydney where i can buy a good quality reasonably stock RB25DET. how much are they usually and do u get any type of warranty on them? Cheers

and what kind of prices are we usually looking at for that and a time frame for off the road time? i may be doing it myself but how much does a tuner or whatever charge to do this kind of job? Cheers for all the help Callum

ok so lets just say my rings are gone. whats the best option to fix or replace the engine. is it usually best to just get a front cut that looks to be in good condition or would i be better off fixing my current engine up? from what i understand getting to the piston rings means to basically pull the entire engine apart correct? Cheers buddy

kool. will do. is it normal for the RB's to still run perfectly smooth which a bad compression. at idle it almost sounds like im running a high lift cam and then its clears as soon as u start to bring up the rpm. Is there a good plumb back catch can u guys would reccommend and where can i purchase online? Cheers for your help.

Hi everyone. Just the latest questions i have on my oil issue where oil is going through the inlet on my rb25det. Basically as known there are breather hoses which from my own knowledge is to pressurise the sump. now at high boost and rpm there is oil coming through these pipes and its end up leading into the intake pipe which is why everytime i close the throttle its sprays out my BOV. So i said no problem ill block them off like i have done previously on older cars as these are usually only put there because of ADR rules or similar. so idid and it ended up shooting my plug out due to so much pressure building up and popping it off. So does this mean i possibly have some dodgy cylinders or a cylinder in the car? cracked rings etc etc. i installed a temp catch can from this breather hose and it fills up pretty easy when u give the car a proper hit. should i purchase a proper catch tank or is my engine stuffed. If i have missed something please ask for any information u need to help with my problem. Cheers Callum

hi everyone., I recently purchased a turbo (vg30) with garrett internals highflowed and installed it on my car. when up to temperature it runs perfectly under boost and load. however some mornings, not all, it idles at around 500rpm and then the idle up comes on and sets it to 1000 or whatever when its cold. this has only happened since change of turbo. any ideas. Also oil consumption has gone down but its still there definatly. it cant be a dodgy piston as its running so smooth. is it likely to be a blocked up 1 way valve somewhere? i did clean out the intercooler. the oil is still coming out the blow off valve. Cheers for you help in advance. Callum (oil is 10w-40)

17" Deep Dish 5 Spoke Rims For Sale
sky_hi replied to TOH's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
what brand, type, offset are they? also what tyres? -
Hi everyone. just a quike question for you all, have a r33 Gtst with a set of 17" Stern wheels on it. there are also centre caps supplied with the wheels. the centre caps have a badge that it stuck to the centre cap with double sided tape which over years has degraded. just wanted to fix up these centre caps which will take some time but i heard that they act as dust covers to stop dirt and stuff getting into the wheel bearing. is this true or are they purely decoration only to fill in the hole in the centre of the rim. Cheers for your help in advance Callum

hi. still having some issues finding a replacement turbo charger for my 1994 r33 gtst. i have spoken to garrett direct, gcg turbos, and other people and everyone seems to be able to repair the stock turbo in about 3 days but this isnt really any good. im looking for a full replacement turbo bolt on to the standard fixings for around the 2 gran mark. does anybody know where i might be able to get anything. otherwise if not. if i get the standard turbo with steel wheels and high flowed do you need to replace anything else on the car for it to work. eg injectors, computer. a replacement would be better as the mate im doing with lives a fair distance from home so we are gonna do it over a saturday so if i can have a brand new one in my hands it would make life much easier. cheers callum

Changing Steering Wheel On R33
sky_hi replied to danielribo-r33's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
u prolly need to pull the horn cover off the old one and under there somewhere will be a nut which fastenes it to the steering shaft. u will most likely need a power drill or similar to take it off u can get ones that plug into ur cig lighter and do the job pretty well. then its basically bolt ur boss kit up n mount the wheels u will also prolly need to run for the horn one wire to ur new center buttin tab and then another to a ground somewhere but im sure u will work it out. -
Hi, just wanted to know how to adjust the base timing on a RB25det in a skyline R33 gtst 1994 model. also at what degree is base timing. i have found to much pinging at higher boost as timing is advanced to far i think. i believe u need to put the standard computer into program mode or something like that. cheers callum

sky_hi replied to sky_hi's topic in Engines & Forced Induction

Callum Cheers guys -
hi. all. this is my first post on here so ill intoduce myself as well. name is callum. bought my first skyline about 7 months ago now and have been looking for a car club to join is NSW and this place looks like it may become home. anyways ill get on with the topic for now. basically i am the first aussie owner of the car. its a 1994 R33 GTST. car has been running fantastic out where i take it for a good hit. basically one night i ran the quarter mile and it all seemed fine. except for the fact that when i was slowing down at the end of it i put it into first gear and the car bunny hopped to a stop. engine was still running. i then turned around thinking it was strange and in first gear again gave it a small hit up to second gear. the car started jerking again. i pulled over and found oil ontop of the rocker covers. had been coming out just where the hose clamp near the inlet is as it was a bit loose. this was very quikly looking like a blown turbo. so i took it home and pulled of the pipe and sure enough there is some engine oil there and it had also sprayed out the BOV. so i marched off to place i was reccommended near me called tunehouse in Marrickville. he said i could fix it or go for a better turbo wich is as the heading says a T3/T4 Hybrid. the whole thing to do would cost around $3500 full installed. does this seem a bit dear or a good price. has anybody used him and know if he is any good. his workshop looks pretty good but you just never know. also would i maybe be better off purchasing a good turbo myself and supplying it to him. Cheers Callum
